  1. This is good stuff. IMO, MOST times we had the right play called just couldn't execute. I mean that last one was just a great play by Smith and lucky catch. EASILY could've been our ball. Maybe I am a fool, but this looks to me like our players just aren't making plays. Slow reaction times etc. Like the original post said, some of the backups/younger guys HAVE to step up. I am not giving up hope yet....
  2. YIKES. I have no idea what goes into the PFF grades, but Banks has seemed "fine". Jones too. Hopefully the young pups grow up soon.
  3. I’m still pissed that Bijan is not used more. 16 carries?! 1 reception? Uncalled for.
  4. Positive thought: I thought we would go 9-3 at BEST this year. We can still do that. Heh. Negative: I didn't think we would be 2-2 after four games this season. The Tech game: What an effort by their offense. I have NEVER seen a team go up tempo the entire game. That was the difference in my opinion. They controlled the time of possession and ran about 1,000 more plays than we did. That usually matters. I have not given up hope...our best player (other than Bijan) hasn't really played much and is coming back soon.
  5. I just wanna say major props to the dude (can’t remember who) who said “watch out for Smith running.” And everyone bashed his ass saying Smith had only 50 yards rushing all year or whatever. He’s killing us with these clutch 3rd/4th down runs. Fuck.
  6. Defense struggling, but their offense has been impressive. Or maybe our defense is showing signs of sucking. I don’t know, but that’s a great stop.
  7. I think Quinn plays today. He’s a baller. He’s practiced all week and has a damn mullet. This is conference play and he’s my quarterback.
  8. I just want to apologize to Bijan. I told my son while watching the game: "what is wrong with Bijan?! He keeps falling down on the first touch." Moments later he broke that first long run. Was glad to hear that Sark told him to STOP DANCING. Let's hope he puts together a lot more games like this this season. Also, Tech scares me.
  9. My first thought was "dirty hit" but now that I have cooled down a bit I say "nah". We would be HYPED UP if one of our guys did that to Young. I felt SICK when QE was just laying there. I hope Card can keep us together.
  10. What a damn shame. At least Caitlyn Jenner (pic 1) got to go to the game.
  11. My thoughts on the game: 1. Was happy with how we competed. I am ALWAYS negative. Always think we will lose. For some reason this past week I thought we would keep it close. Glad we did. 2. Ewers is THE REAL DEAL. I won’t get into the “what if”, but he can sling it man. I think it is clear as day why he won the QB battle. Dammit i wish he didn’t get hurt so early. 3. The defense, my GOD the defense. THEY EXIST! Maybe it’s Patterson, maybe they have just gotten used to PK, either way, today they impressed. I will say, Bama’s offense kind of sucks. Gibbs was great and played everywhere. Geez. 4. My 15 year-old son (who kicks for his team) said “that missed FG is gonna hurt, watch”. (Miss by Auburn). I kind of said yeah, but let’s see what happens. Well, dammit we lost by 1. 5. We may need to look at our deep snapper. On the missed FG and a punt he snapped the ball low. Gotta do better. 6. We belong. There is no doubt that our depth may not be equal with other top teams, but we belong with the top teams, IF Ewers is our QB. Without him, we are whatever. That being said, was proud Card didn’t completely shit the bed. 7. That Ryan Watts missed sack will haunt me. (Theory time) Why not BLOW YOUNG UP!?! I think because everyone is so SCARED of penalties they shy away from actually hitting dudes. I dunnno, but that sucked big time. My son and I screamed thinking he was sacked. I guess players make plays. 8. This season will be fun, ESPECIALLY IF EWERS IS READY TO GO.
  12. The “missed intentional grounding” was the right call. I had to rewatch, but the “pass” hit off of Overshown’s helmet. Same as if he would’ve batted it down. Now, was it a “real pass”? No, but the rules are rules. No way was that a real pass by Young, but the refs got it right unfortunately.
  13. I bet Alabama is way more scared of us than we are of them. Their coaches are HOPING Ewers makes some dumb mistakes, because if not, Texas wins this. Our defense will be ready. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I was bummed we didn’t see Ewers hit on a deep ball, but like others said he had some very impressive throws. The “simple” one where he pump faked in defenders face while running and then tossing to Sanders to his left was awesome. Didn’t seem like much but that had Aaron Rodgers written all over it. Can’t wait to see him again this weekend.
  15. I sometimes get bored at work.....so when I saw this thread my first thought was "I wonder how Saban's former Alabama assistants have done in their SECOND year as a head coach after leaving Alabama?". Now, some went straight to head coaching after leaving Bama the first time (Smart, Kiffin) and some took other assistant positions before becoming a head coach. But, the "second year as a head coach after leaving Bama" is my stat and I am sticking to it. Here is what I found: Kirby Smart: 13-2 in second year at Georgia. Mario Cristobal: 12-2 in second year at Oregon. Billy Napier: 11-3 in second year at Louisiana. Mel Tucker: 2-5 in second year at Michigan State (Covid year) Mike Locksley: 2-3 in second year at Maryland (Covid year) Lane Kiffin: 5-7 in second year at FAU Jim McEelwain: 8-6 in second year at Colorado State Curt Cignetti: 12-2 in second year at IUP (mark me down as "never heard of this guy") Jeremy Pruitt: 8-5 in second year at Tennessee *Charles Huff: Only one season as Marshall Head Coach. *Butch Jones: Second season at Arky State. *Dan Lanning: First year at Oregon. Average: 8 wins, 4 losses Now, some of these guys are still head coaches an some have left. So, after intense research and using my Apple II E computer to run extensive analytics, I predict Sark will go at LEAST 8-4 this season at the helm of the mighty Texas Longhorns. My real prediction though is 9-3.
  16. Well, this is interesting. Some aggy simulated the 2022 season 1,000 times. His results are posted on Reddit. He has done it before so you might have seen it. Here is one quote in the Reddit post about Texas: Check it out on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/wxevkz/i_simulated_the_2022_season_1000_times_here_are/
  17. Apparently Coach Herman visited my work’s bathroom recently.
  18. This may have been mentioned, but this HAS to be a good sign. Caesar's Sports Book recently updated their Heisman odds. Ewers odds have actually improved: https://247sports.com/LongFormArticle/Preseason-college-football-Heisman-odds-updated-for-2022-season-191563788/#191563788_1
  19. So, all of this doomsday talk about our QB situation made me wonder about the talk surrounding some current college QBs who have been great. I did some searching on the Bama boards from a year ago and found some VERY similar talk about Bryce Young prior to the 2021 season. There were SOME positive things as well in the thread I found, but just like every other message board, no one knows shit. Gotta play real games and see how these dudes react. I am not saying we are "just like Bama" or that Ewers is Young, but this stuff was great. Also, the last quote was in the thread as well talking about Sark. Let's just play the games and see how the hell it goes.
  20. Y’all are looking at it all wrong. To me, the problem forever has been the DEFENSE. Look at all the turnovers they are causing! This is good news.🤪
  21. I know he was "new", but I thought Ewers looked AWFUL in the spring game as well. Few good throws, but overall, meh. Definitely worried about the QB play.
  22. Didn't ou go 7-5 in 1999 and then win the national title the next year? I think we will do the same, except we were like 5-7 so maybe we will go 10-2. So yeah, 10-2 or maybe 9-3.
