  1. I'm recording it and just catching up. "Adminstrative timeout?" Oh sure ... when they do it it's an "administrative timeout" but when I do it it's "disturbing the peace" or "reckless driving."
  2. Bob Uecker turned 90 yesterday. I love this old commercial with him and John Goodman.
  3. Just read that Wilt suffered a total rupture of his patellar tendon in the 9th game of the 1969 season, missed 70 games, got back four months later for the first round playoffs against the Suns, and averaged 23.7 ppg, 20.3 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 5.5 blocks per game on 54.9 field goal shooting. In the 7th game, Wilt had 30 points, 27 rebounds, 6 assists and 11 blocks on 61.1% field goal percentage. The opposing center, Jim Fox, had 7 points in the loss. Again: 4 months after completely rupturing his patellar tendon. Warrior.
  4. As far as I can tell it's all just a crap shoot anyway. The cheap group with Shlossnagel has just as good a chance of picking a superior AD as some consultants or whatever.
  5. Agreed. I had never seen it before and just geeked out. His observations regarding Linebackers being so hard to project was very surprising to me but, after I thought about it, it made sense.
  6. I thought this video was pretty interesting and very well done. These YouTubers are getting pretty good with respect to their video chops. Lots of good snippets of Longhorns, too. Question: do high school football recruiting rankings accurately predict NFL success? Among the conclusions: 1) 13% of 5-star recruits ended up being All- Pros 2) Timewise, the further away from high school graduation the less accurate the star rankings become 3) In terms of the ability to predict future super greatness, it's harder to predict with football than with almost any other sport (makes sense if you ponder it) 4) Some positions are much easier to predict. 70% of All-Pro running backs were predicted to play in the NFL when they left high school. This is the highest among position groups 5) WR are also easy to predict. Objective measurments (speed, strength) were highly correlated to future success. 6) Of the 31 All-Pro Qbs since 2012, 25 of them were not expected by the 9.95ers to reach the NFL. and so on and so on. I just liked this dude's presentation and I'm tired of reading about who might be Ketchum and there's not much else happening so if you feel like it take a look and tell me what you think.
  7. Irony. You talked about making terrible comparisons when the post you quoted did not make a "lazy comparison" of Baker to Choate, or any comparison at all between the two men. Rather, it was a comparison of Surlyhorn's reaction to the hiring of the two men. Reading is fundamental.
  8. He wasn't describing the situation, but the conversation around Choate's hiring. Then again, this is a board with thread titles like "Hey P.K. ---- what would you say you do here?" and "Lincoln Riley or Bust!," so I'm not sure why I'm surprised at some of the takes hereabouts.
  9. Good Lord, the meaningless things that some of y'all obsess over. I'd rather read a thousand pages of cheese puns then the last 10 pages of this thread.
  10. Peter Navarro is going to be wearing an orange jumpsuit.
  11. I saw the Drive-By Quippers in concert. It was a bit exasperating because each song was less than 30 seconds long.
  12. Sting 'em, Bees!!!! I FINALLY, after 30 years on the internet, get to talk some high school football smack to somebody! Feels good, man.
  13. Tristan Thompson suspended for 25 games for violation of NBA drug policy. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/39370359/cavaliers-tristan-thompson-suspended-nba-25-games
