  1. This... Goddammit. Even though we live in Seattle, only my wife and oldest daughter drink coffee/tea. Not me or the youngest or the dog. Walked through the house last week and ended up double fisted like that photo... 60% of them with at least a quarter inch of liquid left at the bottom. After I ran the dishwasher and put things away, a quick inventory revealed that we have 35 coffee cups in the cabinet; a number which doesn't include any from the two formal settings (fancy eatin' plates, for the cavalcade of celebrities and dignitaries we host) or any of the @15 travel mugs and bottles. I'm going to start throwing away one mug a week... No one will notice until mid-November
  2. Hell, this is so iconic that I forgot it was a CCR cover.
  3. I won't say this is the "greatest" live cover of this song, but it seemed appropriate for today:
  4. That's OK- she doesn't know how either.
  5. Florida school bans Amanda Gorman’s inaugural poem after parental complaint For the record, here's the poem in question: When day comes, we ask ourselves, where can we find light in this never-ending shade? The loss we carry. A sea we must wade. We braved the belly of the beast. We’ve learned that quiet isn’t always peace, and the norms and notions of what “just” is isn’t always justice. And yet the dawn is ours before we knew it. Somehow we do it. Somehow we weathered and witnessed a nation that isn’t broken, but simply unfinished. We, the successors of a country and a time where a skinny Black girl descended from slaves and raised by a single mother can dream of becoming president, only to find herself reciting for one. And, yes, we are far from polished, far from pristine, but that doesn’t mean we are striving to form a union that is perfect. We are striving to forge our union with purpose. (selectively spoilered for longcat) When day comes, we step out of the shade of flame and unafraid. The new dawn balloons as we free it. For there is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it. If only we’re brave enough to be it.
  6. WaPo: An analysis of book challenges from across the nation shows the majority were filed by just 11 people
  7. And he's definitely "on brand" for the folks in Trump's universe: Anchorman and Modern Family star Fred Willard arrested after exposing himself at Hollywood adult movie theatre (RIP to a comedic legend)
  8. Well, he won't need a stepladder to get in it for a change
  9. Running for president? In those heels, he ain't running for shit....
  10. Man, you better stay away....
  11. CSB- My brother in law's father in law works at Kettle, so we occasionally get to "test" some of the upcoming flavors. Pepperoncini was one that we all agreed on, and Mike always brings a bag of those over to the house when we're in town. This was my favorite: But they changed the flavor between the test process and production. Now? Meh. Relatedly, from the Northwest: The surprise is that they're terrible. Ironically, this describes the flavor pretty well.
  12. FWIW To be fair, it could also just be Thursday...
  13. I'm not sure it ever was in the first place....
  14. Because they weren't your kids?
  15. King, Queen... either way, it's royalty.
  16. This is a pretty good interview: https://www.gq.com/story/dave-matthews-profile Not a huge fan of his music, but have met him more than a few times (some of the same circles here in Seattle). Really level-headed and nice guy, and one that will initiate a conversation. /CSB
  17. Seems orca-strated
  18. We used to live in the Pasadena area right off the old Route 66. I always thought it would have been fun to drive to see my best friend in Chicago (two blocks off route 66) and to visit my brother in OKC (one block away) and my parents in STL (quarter mile from 66) on the way. "Ok,let me see... Out the driveway, turn right and drive east for 2500 miles. We'll be there in no time!"
  19. Steelcase Leap v2. This is the way.
  20. With each other???
  21. Okay, well, uh... candlesticks always make a nice gift, and uh, maybe you could find out where she's registered and maybe a place-setting or maybe a silverware pattern. Okay, let's get two!
  22. Given Stormy's account, I have difficulty believing Trump is a master debater. Thankfully, I also have a difficulty picturing it.
