  1. He's baaaaaaack. https://www.tmz.com/2022/06/15/bam-margera-taken-back-rehab-treatment-center-reported-missing/
  2. These shots give me serious Monty Python and the Holy Grail vibes. Maybe that's a French knight looking out from the top in the first pic, checking out the wildlife below him. Gotta love the shaggy bevos as well.
  3. In Color *was* the second album. Surrender kicked off their third studio album, Heaven Tonight. When I saw the thread title, I immediately thought of Surrender along with Baba O'Riley and More Than A Feeling. Others beat me to the punch on all three.
  4. I personally chuckle when I see opposing fans or players throwing the horns down because it shows that Texas is living in their heads rent free to the point that they can only try to change the horns up instead of coming up with something original or interesting on their own. I also don't get upset when I see horns down in part because that's what the morons want to see happen, so I don't give them the satisfaction. That said, for this douche clown to state, "Saying that I'm making a mockery of a participating team because I put a Horns Down is ridiculous" is itself ludicrous. Of course throwing the horns down immediately after the national anthem was an effort to mock the Lady Horns. For him to suggest otherwise shows just how fucking moronic he is.
  5. The Library Cop on Seinfeld, several PTA movies, and so many more. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/philip-baker-hall-dead-90-171815959.html
  6. csb -- Just realized that a buddy of mine played HS baseball with the guy doing color commentary for this game. /csb
  7. I think I have identified the weak spot in our lineup tonight.
  8. That was shaping up to be a lot worse than 1 run.
  9. JFC, guess we didn't have much of a strategy during the rain delay except to go to sleep. Ardoin and Campbell looked like they were inconvenienced to be called out of the dugout to bat.
  10. JFC, ESPN. Let's put a dark filter over the camera that's farthest from the play when we show the replay, huh?
  11. Be careful out there. Glad this little guy seems to be recovering okay. https://www.yahoo.com/news/copperhead-hiding-leaves-bites-5-153634173.html
  12. Ahhhh . . . Southside Johnny. Always a great time at his shows.
  13. Czech dropping knowledge on my ass. Had no idea that Temperton was in Heatwave. Just knew him as a prolific writer of hits for others.
  14. Thanks for the info about the venue transfer. Given that the transfer only occurred about 4 months ago, I would be very surprised if the coverage action has been resolved in the meantime. If that court is as backed up due to criminal matters and COVID as the fed courts out here in CA, it'll be a while before things are resolved.
  15. Curious to know why you believe GEICO lost the federal court dec. relief action. One of the recent KC-area newspaper articles linked in one of the other posts said that the declaratory relief action is still ongoing and, if decided in GEICO's favor, would probably result in a finding that GEICO is not obligated to indemnify the Missouri state court judgment. Is there some updated information indicating that GEICO also lost its federal lawsuit on the merits? The order linked in your post was simply a partial grant/partial denial of the two fuckers' (literally) request to proceed anonymously in the dec. relief action. It didn't decide any substantive insurance coverage issues.
  16. Going from LA to DVNP and then to Mammoth Lakes in one day is going to be packing an awful lot into that day. LA directly to Mammoth Lakes is 4.5 hours or so by itself, which wouldn't leave much time for a side excursion to check out DVNP if you want to get up to Mammoth Lakes by the evening. As Otis mentioned, you could maybe shoot into the west entrance of DVNP by taking Highway 190 east from the Olancha area and see Crowley Point, which is a great view. You might have enough time to do the hike to Darwin Falls. But that's about it. I wouldn't recommend going down into the valley proper in late June -- it's going to be hot down on the valley floor. Stay at higher elevations where it's cooler. As Otis said, take plenty of water -- more than you think you'll need. FWIW, if you're a U2 fan, the site of the joshua tree that was on the cover of their album The Joshua Tree is located a short hike off Highway 190 not far outside of DVNP. If you google "location of U2 joshua tree," all kinds of websites will pop up that can provide the exact location, including GPS coordinates. The tree itself died several years ago and is now a carcass on the ground, but the site still sees a lot of pilgrimages by U2 fans and music fans in general. They leave all kinds of memorabilia and other shit out there, including a heavy-ass plaque. The wife (no pics) and I found it one time for kicks when we were coming back from a trip up to Mammoth and we had some time on our hands. It's like a 5-10 minute hike from the side of the highway if you know where you're going. It's an interesting little side-side-trip that probably wouldn't eat up more than 30 minutes or an hour at most. But, again, it's very likely to be quite hot in that area during the day in late June, so make sure you know exactly where the location is when you park your car and start walking, take water with you, wear comfortable shoes, etc., even though it's only a short hike from the highway to the site of the tree. If you get dissuaded from doing the side trip into DVNP, you still have some other options. The Alabama Hills just outside of Lone Pine are very cool -- the site of many movies over the years. Easily drivable (the roads are soft dirt) and some short hikes make it fun for kids . . . assuming you'll have kids in tow. Kids love climbing on the rocks. You can spend anywhere from an hour to half a day in the Hills. There's also a pretty good little film museum in Lone Pine that focuses on all the films that have been made through the years in the Lone Pine area. Or stop at the Manzanar National Historic Site right off Highway 395 between Lone Pine and Independence. Well worth a few hours or even a half day. Terrific visitor's center with a lot of informative exhibits, movies, etc., and you can also drive around the area that formerly served as the intern camp, get out and walk to where buildings once stood, etc. There's also an obelisk-like memorial. Visiting Manzanar is going to be very interesting (and sobering) for anyone with even a passing interest in WW2 or history in general. Frankly, I think you'd probably be better off checking out Manzanar instead of doing the quick side trip into DVNP simply because (as Otis mentioned) most of the cool things to see in DVNP are either located in the eastern side of the park in the Furnace Creek area which will take extra time getting to and where it will likely be hot as hell, or are closed for repairs (Scotty's Castle). Save DVNP for some other time (esp. the spring, when the flowers are blooming and the temps are comfortable) when you have more time to explore it.
  17. This thread is equal parts entertaining and frightening.
  18. Watched this again for some fucked up reason, and still cannot get over this travesty.
  19. Now we know who to blame. Sounds like you and the boy had a swell time. Fun town and a fun place to see a couple games. I haven't been at Wrigley since Opening Day (Night) 2015. One of these days . . .
  20. Recently? Not that I know of. Not since Kennedy v. Louisiana.
  21. Yep. As the link in Bookman's post above indicates, there was a long period of time in which rapes that didn't result in death could get the death penalty in certain circumstanced in certain states. IIRC, one of the inmates who was already on Death Row in the Sixties (when Dick Hickock and Perry Smith of In Cold Blood fame arrived at the Kansas State pen) had been sentenced to death and was eventually executed for a particularly vicious rape in that state.
