  1. I mean, I think so. Last sentence seems to sum it up: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5440119/2024/04/25/caitlin-clark-marketability-racial-bias/
  2. Is that why you are over-rotating the other way and mentally trying to bend like a pretzel to minimize Clark's impact and stature? You see yourself as a counterbalance here on this conversation to those who are emotionally defensive about the Great White Hype(ess)?
  3. Riiiiight. Chartered flights were happening and the ball was set in motion two years ago, with or without Caitlin Clark being a superstar and capturing White America's mainstream attention and money. That's the argument you are going with?
  4. Is she saying "Gang Members", repeatedly? lol sheesh.
  5. I believe you, you seem to be plugged in on WNBA and not just a Johnny-come-lately like 99.99% of surly and 98% of America. That said, it's super funny that the one woman who's name still escapes me that hip chcked Caitlin Clark, her coach had to issue an apology for her behavior on her behalf. That, my friend is hilarious. Kiss the Caitlin Clark ring if you want to ride the wake of her gravy train. I have never heard of Asia Clark until you posted her name upthread. Also-- Pat McAffee-- super cringe and misogynistic to call her a "white B". Why is that guy such a CHUD?
  6. Echoing all the statements here; super sad, he was a unique and amazing build and player, and super fun to watch (which was/is itself saying something about an OL). Very sad day for Cowboy Nation-- he was one of the greats and that video clip of him running down that Saints LB is one of my favorite John Madden memories ever. "This guy's got a rocket booster strapped to his back!" among many other experiences and plays for sure, but Larry Allen and that play always made me super proud to be a Cowboy fan.
  7. This is why it's confusing to me-- a rising tide lifts all boats. You'd think they'd appreciate the added eyeballs, attention and momentum that she's brought because...it adds dollars to their bottom line at the end of the day. But I guess if you were rational you probably weren't playing WNBA pre-Clark anyways because you'd need to be extremely passionaite about playing the game and the sport in general because like you said...teacher's salary.
  8. You were the one who was trying to pretend that the tweets were plausibly deniable and weren't about Clark Tell me all about it and let's call those for what they are. Personally, I cannot say something or ignore something that I know nothing about, because this is the first I'm hearing of it. I'll definitely defer to you on WNBA history and lore becuase I barely know who Candace Parker is, but vaguely recognize the name. I can honestly say I've never read or heard the other names and/or of the "brawl of 2008" except "Lisa Leslie" and just know she's an OG WNBA player.
  9. I watched two Iowa games to see what the hype was about and found it to be rather enjoyable. I guess because there were stakes (Women's Tourney). I can't find the desire to care enough to spend anytime watching WNBA. However, I find it laughable that Pancho was out here pretending like the tweets from Angel Reese weren't sneak disses at Clark, especially after she overly and dramatically celebrated Clark getting hip checked to the ground, and now Pancho is actting like it's not a big deal. What's the beef you are pretending to not have with Caitlin Clark, Pancho? Further, why are the same people in the WNBA league who stand to benefit the most from Clark's attention and fandom and the exposure she is bringing (read: eyeballs and money), which will trickle down to everyone else in the league, so belligerent to her? Too much sinful pride is my guess as they would rather reign in Hell than serve in Heaven, I guess? Maybe it's racism because she's a white, corn-fed midwest girl who is heterosexual and Christian, which makes her an instant outsider?
  10. Finally got around to watching Dune I-- and it was pretty good. I watched the first 2 minutes of The Marvels and NOPE'd out almost immediately. Can't imagine who would waste time watching that, maybe teenage girls?
  11. Saw this on a plane, it was awesome. Hilarious and always JW was incredible.
  12. Exactly how do you figure? I mean, Naz Reid had himself a gem, but Ant sucked in the second half. Game 1 we dominated them in the paint and boards.
  13. He hates Rudy (FIBA and Olympics beef stemming from France / Slovenia)
  14. I mean, besides the fact I was being sarcastic, it’s funny to me that all these menial positions (e.g. housekeepers, truck drivers, gas station managers) that need humans are so attractive versus, say, a social media marketing associate or business analyst making $80k a year.
  15. How does that saying go? Every......something..... Oh I remember: Every accusation is a confession.
  16. I'm not cool with that and am not supporting it politically with my vote or any money in the Year of our Lord 2024. Thank u, next
  17. Stupid people impact elections/society, is more the point.
  18. You'll get nowhere with a contingent on here in CR-- they have literally argued that Trump is comparable to Hitler because, even though he hasn't killed 7 million people, he has the potential to... possibly if you squint and turn your head and then jump up and down and then if lightning strikes the same place twice, he could possibly one day do the same thing as Hitler. So, in their mind, it's an apt comparison and not hyperbolic mental illness.
  19. This is just a good old fashioned Brisket Friday Afternoon before a 3 day weekend. He's wrapped up his workday by noon and has been working himself up since to where he's positively frothing by mid afternoon and that's even before his first alcoholic drink.
  20. You’d need to be an Olympic long jumper to bridge the gap between how well the public thinks the economy is doing and how well the economy is actually doing, according to a new Harris poll published yesterday by the Guardian. Among the 2,000+ participants in the survey: 56% think the US is currently experiencing a recession, and 55% believe the economy is shrinking. (GDP—a key measure of economic activity—is growing.) 72% believe inflation is going up. (It’s more than halved from a 2022 peak of 9.1% and is hovering between 3% and 4%.) 49% think the current unemployment rate is at a 50-year high. (It’s near a 50-year low.) 49% believe the S&P 500 is on the decline. (It’s risen more than 12% this year, and Wall Street is raising its expectations for the index’s year-end performance. The Dow also just made record gains.) Why is reality missing so many Americans? Even though inflation is finally easing, the average cost of groceries, housing, and other consumer needs has soared over the past few years. About two-thirds of the Harris poll respondents agreed that “it’s difficult to be happy about positive economic news when I feel financially squeezed each month.” ... Media coverage likely also shares the blame. Recent studies show that news coverage is becoming increasingly negative, especially regarding gas prices, a common harbinger of economic panic. Here’s why that’s bad news for Joe Biden. 58% of the poll’s participants blame the current administration for what they see as a worsening economy. Convincing them otherwise will be a challenge, especially since more than 60% of people surveyed said they’re skeptical of economic news. Oh, here is the link: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/may/22/poll-economy-recession-biden
  21. He's a little smart about some things-- the things that he's historically worked on and made him money-- and he bloviates opinions on most everything else. So he's you (and me, and everyone else on this website), just with billions of dollars. Which I guess is why we get to punch up at him and call him stupid and we have the luxury of being poor nobodies that makes us think we are pretty nifty and clever in an "I could do that" kind of way. Imagine if you ever got famous or rich and become a somebody and people went through your tweets or posts here. Based on those (e.g. opinions and reactions and emotions about most things you are so amatuer in that nobody would think to pay you in those realms) think you were one of the biggest idiots in the world. "Probably a good or decent lawyer though, but man, what a dummy!" they'd say.
  22. Didn't we have a guy on this site who was telling us how he almost got fired for failing the phishing links stuff?
