  1. Did you just try the fried pork chop with salat on top? I told you it was good.
  2. I mean, this dude calls out that Texas avoids Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Alabama in the same article he ranks 7 of the Aggy opponents in the bottom half of the conference. Who had the easy schedule?
  3. The Sedona thread got me thinking about how to spend 2 days in AZ in January. My 13 year old son has a soccer tournament in Phoenix Jan 3-5 (Fri-Sun). We want to spend a couple of days on the front or back end to do something fun. Leader in the clubhouse is fly into Phoenix Wed Jan. 1, drive somewhere in the afternoon, spend Thursday doing something fun, then returning to Phoenix for a Friday late afternoon game. The two options we are most heavily considering are the following, and I would love some advice. It will be me, my wife, and 3 boys aged 8, 10, and 13. In general, 3-4 hours is about the max length of time we have before "this is awesome!" turns into "when are we going to be back at the car?" for my kids on hikes and/or scenic outings. 1. Use Flagstaff as a home base Wed and Thurs. night for a day trip to the Grand Canyon on Thursday. We've never been, and it seems silly to be in the area and not go. But that feels like a lot of time in the car (2+ hours to Flagstaff and another 1.5 hours to South Rim), and my fear is that 1 day won't feel like long enough to say we "did" the Grand Canyon. I honestly have no idea of what there is to do other than a bunch of hikes and scenic overlooks. That gets old for my kids, so maybe 1 day is plenty. 2. Sedona. Looks like ~2 hour drive from PHX, and the Sedona thread looks like there are a ton hiking of options that will satisfy our needs. Less time overall in the car, but it's not the Grand Canyon. We'd probably have time to do something in the afternoon if we wanted to, but would need to be something that doesn't require much energy. I'm open to a potential 3rd option, but these seems like the most obvious 2 to consider.
  4. In all seriousness, though, if he had perhaps been more of a gentlemen and shared two pina coladas and a longneck bottle over dinner, she'd be bragging to friends about that summer rather than suing his ass.
  5. I'm having trouble visualizing the geometry and physics on that first paragraph. Sounds like quite the rodeo. Anyone want to take a stab in MS Paint?
  6. Was her name Tomorrow? Because Tomorrow never came.
  7. "The Thunder Rolls" "Oh it's rollin' baby!"
  8. Definitely think he's going to want God to answer his prayers on this one
  9. Seriously, WTF is that? Is he cheering for the refs?
  10. Carve is pretty good shit. I've been to the one on SW Parkway multiple times for work but never ordered the chicken-fried pork chop. I just went to their menu to see what's changed from the last time I went, and I noticed they have an option for putting a "salad" on top instead of gravy. It looked like arugula and a few tomatoes. This is probably a "ban user" POV, but if you've never had a CFS or CFPC with squeeze of lemon or arugula with a light vinaigrette on top, you should give it a try. It's a fantastic combination. It's pretty common for schnitzel to come with a lemon in Germany, and I had a pork schnitzel topped with arugula and lemon vinaigrette at Trattoria Lisina a few times that rocked my world. The acidity from the lemon and the bite from the arugula cuts through the fat of the meat and crust, and you don't have that "full and greasy" feeling afterwards.
  11. I feel like the audio from "back up Terry!" dubbed over this video would be pretty epic. "oh lawd!"

    USMNT 2024

The training camp is actually in Austin? Is the public allowed to watch any of it? If the omission you're referring to is Gio, isn't he still recovering from a groin injury?
  13. I did not have "my wife posts here under the name kevwun" on my bingo card today.
  14. It's the difference between "he doesn't give a SHIT!" and "he doesn't GIVE a shit." The difference is what are the results on the field. If he's winning, who fucking cares if the head coach shows up in tailored clothes? He doesn't have time to look good for you. He's too busy winning football games. If he's losing, then he's a fucking slob whose game prep resembles the attention to detail he gives himself when he leaves for the office. Now, if you look like a slob and have Mack-level paranoia on 9.95 reports and go 7-5 in year 1, you better have some thick fucking skin and believe in your ability to turn it around.

  16. Kid turned into 6'2" offensive lineman and pitcher for his HS baseball team. https://www.chron.com/sports/astros/article/Astros-special-place-heart-Jose-Lima-Jr-Junior-14518991.php I had forgotten Limatime died at age 37. Fuck me, that's young. His son was 11. Edit to add I'm talking specifically about Jose Lima Jr. Wikipedia states only the following sentence on his personal life: Lima had at least six children with at least six different mothers. He was married twice
  17. I hope she's a good cook,because being hot as balls isn't enough.
  18. https://seekingalpha.com/article/4722537-intel-not-worth-the-90-billion-price-tag-for-qualcomm Thought this was an interesting article on establishing a valuation for a potential merger with Qualcomm. I don't think there's a chance in he'll of that happening, but interesting nonetheless.
  19. I'm always tempted to buy pork belly at the store, and then the same question pops in my head. "WTF am I going to do with that amount of pork belly?" Did you roast that or smoke it? You've cut it into bacon strips, so are you now going to freeze a good portion of it, or are you planning to eat 10lbs of bacon before it goes bad? The fat clearly isn't rendered, so do you cook it like regular bacon before you eat it? Which then begs the question of why you cooked it the first time. Maybe this belongs in the "cooking stuff you suck at" thread. I suck at finding uses for anything more than about a pound of pork belly.
  20. We tried that with our cat because she kept jumping on the kitchen counters. She'd jump up and be like
  21. Get over yourself. Do you think the signature in his post is referencing a children's book? 2024 The Orangeman Returns with Thunder.
  22. LOL, literally the first thing I thought of when i read the post. All that's missing is a MAGA hat.
  23. Can't you also add the construction cost of the pool to your cost basis when you sell? So if you're on the hook for capital gains, the cost of the pool helps offset that. Obviously YMMV depending on what sort of gains you have, but anyone in the austin area in the same house for 5-6 years likely stands to make a tidy profit when they sell
  24. I've done that before, and it absolutely simplified the process, but I like the crispiness you get when you flip once. Once I flip, I give a 10 count, turn off the heat, then plate the eggs. Comes out medium every time.
