  1. They haven’t got to discovery (at least I don’t think so) in any of the lawsuits. Pretty sure it’s just been pleadings and leaks to the press. Official document requests, subpoenas to third parties, depositions, etc is when parties explore the proof the other side has for their claims and regardless how strong you may feel, it’s too early to predict a win for anyone
  2. Honestly I think you described 40 million of his voters
  3. 30 prosecutors from the Washington DOJ office walked tonight for prosecuting J6ers. That’s quite a large percentage of the field office. Oh and DC is a unique place with federal jurisdiction so the local DOJ office handles most crimes in the city with the local “state” AG office takes stuff like traffic and juvie cases. Anyone feel safer? Who wants to drive to DC and commit felonies?
  4. Not to be a nihilist but does it even matter if Kash Patel is affirmed or not?
  5. Trump likely believes HIV is a gay and/or black people problem. Aid to gays and blacks is inconsistent with his priorities so it has to go. More likely- reports saying if review of web material was too voluminous to get through by 5p today then it came down
  6. To negotiate what exactly?
  7. So wait. The guy nominated to run the FBI received $900k from Trump’s media company this Tuesday and not one article in a major newspaper blasting the corruption? Surely this is at least half as important as one time when Bill Clinton was on the same plane with the AG while his wife ran for president- right? I mean what the actual fuck.
  8. Oh we shouldn’t ignore the 10% tariffs on all imports from China. Markets already tumbling - will this force another ag bailout? weeeeeeeeeeee
  9. Is it political to point out that these tariffs are prohibited by the trade agreement his administration negotiated and signed? You’d think it’s in the government’s interest to respect treaties or trade agreements with our allies - but nah fuck all that. Let’s disrupt favorable international relations for funsies. Oh also you seem to be missing impacts on housing due to lumber tariffs, increased costs for aluminum, the Fed keeping interest rates high, private sector more likely to implement hiring freezes to stockpile cash in case of an economic downturn, and the retaliation against goods we export which all will inevitably make kitchen table issues more expensive and also destabilize the stock markets. Should we also ignore that it seems a material motive for the administration is rooted in misunderstanding the definition of a trade deficit? Because that seems like an important part of this whole situation too
  10. Wild to say this given the last 12 days or so. Or having lived in Texas for any public employees other than police…
  11. We are in a legitimate constitutional crisis.
  12. What absolute bull shit - Also, what’s worse: the intentional constitutional overreach or that some random jack off can freeze billions in appropriated funds without authorization?
  13. Any truth to reports that non-political heads at FAA were fired today before this incident?
  14. I spoke too soon apparently, TRO granted. The judge relied on the Press Secretary’s comments to essentially rule the rescission a nullity
  15. Welcome to Calvinball - the President now is the sole arbiter of whether money appropriated by Congress will actually be spent. We’re so fucked
  16. None of that is clear at this point
  17. I think it’s also intended to screw them out of their retirement/pension benefits
  18. Media rooms should be barred from repeating Trump press releases without a basic fact-check
  19. Last time he ended with a coup- we’re seeing one now at the beginning
  20. Oh no big deal- just Trump and Project 2025 assholes usurping the power of the purse from Congress and creating a constitutional crisis. It’s Day 9
  21. Red states will still receive federal funding under this proposal. But Trump can’t undo legislation by EOs
  22. They aren’t planning on deporting them all….
  23. there is no doubt that the President now has full control over the prosecutorial discretion of the DOJ and is immune from all criminal conduct for it - just as John Roberts wanted. This is Roberts’ legacy and this is what people voted for.
