All this talk about being conservative, if arch hits his wide open receivers - let’s just say the 6-7 passes we know of and flip to plays the Collins face mask and arch’s stupid sneak right when he shoulda snuck left and Texas wins 17-7, at least. I just don’t buy the game plan itself was an issue. fact is Texas is still on the cusp like Clemson, Georgia and Ohio state were before they went on championship runs. yes 4th and go for it was abysmal, and arch made youthful mistakes under nfl style defensive duress, but I do think *if* arch can learn quickly that this team can still win it all.

Love is love… initially thought that guy was open carry (I don’t know the rules) and then realized nah he’s just an old with a belt holster for his phone.
-
First I hate it when hot straight women wear the lesbian flannel uniform, it’s so unfair. second, I rarely wear Texas gear anywhere except at a game or watching a game on tv, and I squat to pee but I can fight you so fuck the haters.

N95 masks as opposed to fishing and hunting gaiters work. I religiously wear an N95 when traveling and it’s money. Proper face masks reduce the transmissibility of COVID to an uninfected person by 99.99% if I recall correctly the stats. Not a surgical mask, not a KN95, anyway, social distancing, proper masks and vaccines were 100% on the money the correct course to take. To be blunt there’s not much the CDC did wrong. CDC didn’t pass the mandates - GREG ABBOTT closed Texas down, not the CDC. TRUMP passed the first of two major bailouts that spun up inflation (partly) not the CDC. To be fucking blunt, the CDC trains for this shit and they fucking hit a grand slam here. How we can sit here and criticize the pillars of public health and the recommendations that in hindsight actually saved millions of lives is beyond me. and what’s worse is we need to keep the research, the monitoring rolling not just Covid which still presents a major health risk (albeit much less) but for future pandemics as our planet is getting really crowded with viral hosts.

Vax rates are declining but many districts are near, at or above the 95% threshold considered necessary for herd immunity. Take this “form” away and laziness will be the likely culprit for most opt outs.

You caught the stupid when in Oklahoma? Man it’s worse than I thought. I’m so sorry, thoughts and prayers.

Negs are dumb, I give 1 neg to 100 positive (excluding rage +1). Only reasons are tranny jokes - I’ll fucking fight you before I tattle tell and report - and opposing team trolls, that’s it. 200 negs given to 19,000 positive rep (various sorts). I’ve received 80 negs from the dregs of surly society. ignore is a beautiful feature.

Goddammit I had “mother goose, you pussy” then second guessed myself. oh and I’ve added protein powder, creatine, glucosamine / chondroitin, and collagen peptides (powder) to my daily regimen to make sure my muscles and joints have what they need. 50+ is no joke, but you can still athlete the fuck out of sports and the gym if you go slooooow, listen to your body and care and feed it right.

I was still playing tennis but after I finally got well after long Covid i wanted to get back into peak shape. I have a frame that makes push ups unbelievably hard and I’ve never successfully done a single pull up in my life, so I went a different route. One day at the gym per week for a month then two days then I hired a trainer and that took 2 months, so I started with a trainer in the third month. Inside those unsupervised gym days I started with one set of 10 light weight, I was curling 10 lbs per arm. I did like 90 lbs on the leg press. I did only one set. Full body and I did some basic core work like planks for 20 seconds per rep. I try to use dumbbells as much as possible. Machines isolate too much but I use a few especially lower body. I did curls, triceps, lat pulls, overhead press, chest press, row lift, leg press, leg curls, calf press, and all light weight, like “ goose you pussy” (top gun reference) level light weight. Second week I did two sets, third week 3 sets, 4th week added weight, fifth week added more, sixth week even more, you get it. Then by the ninth week I had some reasonable strength and then moved into let’s get this going. I was train wrecked exhausted the first 3 weeks maybe 4 I can’t remember. I was going to bed at 8pm. I was so sore. I think stretching, hot baths, lots of water and electrolytes, and plenty of protein matter. I devoured food I would eat so much food. But after about 4 months it leveled off and I started dialing it in. i was also walking some not enough and that’s a great active recovery for people our age, days off go get your 7000 steps. now I’m 200 lbs on leg press, 25 lbs each arm for curls, etc. pretty close to where I want my 3x10 weights to be. now I’ve added 2+ miles of sprint intervals on the stationary bike for heart, max oxygen capacity, and blood flow (organ and brain health). Usually 8 all out max sprints with zone 2 (easy) cardio in between. Max sprints mean you can’t talk when the sprint is done. And you get your heart rate to peak super quickly. These are so good for you and beat the shit out of 30+ minutes of zone 2 cardio. go slow, consistency is what matters. I’m 7 months into this after letting my early 40s peak fitness fade and I’m rolling and it’s awesome. Never ever let your lower back strain too much, stop immediately. listen to your body, feed it, give it the right care and nutrients and enjoy the process! and honestly, if you can find a sport to play that workouts help make you better it might stick more permanently. Ball sports have always been the only motivation that keeps the train going. you can do this, it’s so worth it.
-
You’ll be fine I’m sure. Even if there is something to deal with. Cardiologist visits on the regular are a good thing, I’m set up now for an annual and got my baseline at 49. Made me feel a lot more comfortable.

So true.

wha? that's not funny that's really really disturbing.
-
but we are in year 4 of this nightmare, i'm done assuming he will fix it. so really it's the hopeful vs. the pessimists. and the pessimists have thrown their hands up and said, fuck it, just kick the FG. which I recognize is also a futile exercise.
-
if ever there was an appropriate use of this gif… this situation is it.
-
4th and 1 from the goal line you have to go for it unless a FG ties or wins the game and even on a tie you might still go for it. That said, don't hold your fucking breath with this coach. The broader question of general analytics role in the decision of whether or not to go for it inside the 25 is absolutely up for debate.
-
this is helpful. Couple of points, inside the 35 is too far out, that's a 52 yard field goal. Let's assume 40-42 yard FG is guaranteed, so that number needs to be inside the 25 when we are talking about leaving points on the table. There is no man's land around the opponents 35-40 where 4th and short has almost no risk - points are hard to get, punt likely a touch back, etc. Then I wonder how that plays out in games that matter - what about OU, UGA x2, tOSU, WA, play off games... and what is the percentage that we need to be at for this to be a no brainer? I don't think it's 50% - straight up that's 4.5 points instead of 3. Plus I bet the percentage is lower against these teams that really matter. I'd be willing to bet that inside the 25 against OU, UGA, tOSU, playoff games, etc. that he's below that 50% average making the above analysis situationally useless. and that doesn't even take into account the defensive slug fests, knowing your defense is only going to give up 2-2.5 scores per game, on the road where momentum matters, what happens when you time and time again go for it and now you need that FG to tie or win. there's just so much more to this than raw averages. every situation is different and analytics matter but they aren't the only factor and general analytics (as opposed to situationally relevant analytics) have nearly zero value to me.

I feel your pain. I’ve bought 2 businesses that ended up being holy fucking awful. Both nearly bankrupted and killed me. Counting substantial private investments I’ve got a total sample size of 17 with 3 new ones getting started and 2 others in mid-flight for 5 total currently TBD. So I’ve had more failures than those 2 mentioned (and some nice successes) but yeah 2 were complete disasters. hang in there. Find your off ramp when you can.
-
I told my trainer I wanted to lift lighter yesterday - you know like a maintenance day or a day off but not - she told me to lift like 80% but 3x15 instead of 95% 3x10. First time I “endurance lifted” …. I’m going to rake her ass, man that was brutal and I’m so sore today.

And refrigerating starches after cooking and then reheating is actually a really good thing. Frankly it’s probably how we should all eat potatoes and rice at least. Just make sure the Tupperware is glass not plastic.
-
I don’t have a huge problem with 4th and 1 from the 1. But the totality of the situation over three years, yeah fuck analytics, take the points.
-
The disconnect is the computers aren’t considering the fact that Texas sucks ass at fourth and go for it and it doesn’t matter what other data is in the so called model. the disconnect is the failure of the computers to realize if Texas can get to 17, the game may be over. So going for it to maximize the chance for 30+ points may not be necessary. The computers fail to realize coming away with nothing …. AGAIN is demoralizing to a defense.
-
It’s worked out so well for Texas hasn’t it? Look there are 3 outcomes (7 points, 3 points and 0 points) in 5 situations. (1) Score the TD easy, (2) clearly a FG opportunity and going for it makes no sense (think 4th and 12), and then the three we are talking about, it’s 4th down and 1 from inside the 10 yard line. get the 7, take the 3 or turnover on downs from a failed 4th and go for it. You all assume get the 7 will happen for Texas as the computers say it should, but it hasn’t so right now you are picking between 3 and 0 points and you’re calling folks boomers for wanting 3 over 0. As soon as sark can prove to be a better than average red zone play caller we can talk about 7, 3 or 0, but right now, the evidence is damning, we are choosing 0 thinking 7 is a real possibility when it just isn’t. He’s so fucking bad at it, and everyone saying they get it are blind as can be. Fix the problem then we can think about 7 or 0 but right now it’s pretty much a guaranteed 0. that’s not even getting into the issue of how you can let a defensive struggle get away from you when you leave 3 on the table or the momentum bust when you walk away with 0. It also fails to recognize how few points this defense needs from the offense to win. It needs more than zero, but once we cross 10 points a win is a legit possibility. That makes 3 points that much more valuable. yeah the 4th and 1 from the goal line you should go for it, I get it, but don’t lie to yourself you all knew it was even odds at best. Shit like that should be 90% odds in our favor. But it’s not. take the points isn’t a failure to see how the game has evolved, take the points is understanding 3 is better than 0 and 7 just isn’t a reliable possibility on 4th and 1 in the red zone right now.

Agreed but the guy said arch had nothing wow about him in the first minute. That dude is click bait trash. It takes 1 second to see arch’s wow factor. Lots of question marks but that dude was wrong out of the gate so I don’t think his analysis is worth the wasted bandwidth to watch.
