  1. dude, we should pay you your $9.95 for that, it's literally what they say for money.
  2. @horn4life yes we like our tankless. We added a circulating pump we can turn on remotely 5 mins before we take a shower or bath and it makes it even better. We also have two tankless to eliminate long hot water run. Allows everyone to use hot water when they want and no issues with depleting a water tank.
  3. I like this solution better but we already have 24kWh of battery back up. https://www.harborfreight.com/9500-watt-super-quiet-inverter-generator-with-co-secure-technology-57080.html you can also run them parallel to double your power output. You can definitely run a house including an HVAC unit off these. we are going to move HVAC and heating appliances to a box that is grid or generator powered (1-2 Predator 9500), and use grid or solar for the lights, plugs, data closet, water pump, electric controls to the water heater, circulating pump, and refrigeration. we had our first outage for 4-5 hours this past cold snap (routine with PEC) and we didn’t like the load on solar reserves with an overcast sky.
  4. Infuriating. This is why we can’t have nice things. It would take no effort to design this at construction to be installed on an inside garage wall. Problem solved. pisses me off. you’re a good dad. I hope you got the hugs and I love yous you deserved for helping her out. I suspect this is a build from at least 10 years ago but any new build for a home in Texas has to be built to withstand 10 degrees and no power for several days. Don’t put a generator on it if you can’t afford it but have the electrical at least thoughtfully designed so you can add back up later - just have two boxes - critical and non critical and the ability to add a transfer switch. Be close enough but within code to the gas line so you can add a generator near there later. Have all exterior water lines run in a way you can drain them easily - just put the hose bibs on a separate loop you can shut off. Tankless water heaters need to go in the garage. Have a house water shut off that’s not at the street. Most of this work simply takes thought not extra materials or time and if it does take extra materials or time it’s marginal. It’s time builders start building for this shit.
  5. I’m not sure it wouldn’t. I know what a down the middle noncompete looks like and can evaluate basic enforceability. Outliers I don’t always know for sure so as a corporate lawyer helping an exec I assume they are enforceable unless I have a noncompete lawyer tell me it isn’t. when that question becomes important I ask one of my colleagues. Often times it’s not important because it’s a down the middle assumed enforceable non compete - in a severance agreement that’s often just restating an already in place non compete. In this case it probably warrants a closer review except if the guy wants the money and has no plans to compete the answer doesn’t matter. it goes back to lawyering 101 - never ever leave your wing man, oh wait that’s something else, never ever agree to a provision you are not comfortable having enforced against you. if this agreement is drafted correctly, if the non compete isn’t enforceable, then the $25k should be returned. Sounds like the guy wants the $25k so he better not compete.
  6. All three of you are behind Chris beard, he’s called first dibs.
  7. not sure what was wrong with me last year, we didn't sail much at all. anyway, just fixed that. we don't own the boat it's more of a boat club but I've put 6 dates on the calendar starting mid-February. they also have an upgrade membership that would get me a further discount as well if I start booking more. so my preferred boat (they don't have luxury sailboats) is a 35 foot, 2017, dual helm, Beneteau, gently used. 2024 we are getting back to it. still have the surf boat but I'm getting a little more chill as I peek over the horizon at 50 years.
  8. Trout are coming from a different hatchery, kept outdoors, tails aren’t battered, look really really nice. They are also healthier and ready to fight. Some are harder to hook, just a better experience all around. we were out late enough to maybe catch a caddis hatch and fish dries for half an hour but the wind and cold suppressed it. Oh well.
  9. Sloppy day on the guad. Wind was legit, coooooold at 4-5pm. Late start fished the river differently which was fun. Caught a DONKEY of a male. Young enough to sploooge all over the raft. Big as that one above maybe an inch bigger. Healthier too, that’s what she said. Pic sucked tho. Took forever to revive him in the net I think he was taking a short nap. Then caught a walk off 20 inch female that ran on the reel and jumped like a tarpon. talked about about striped marlin on the fly rod in the sea of Cortez while shooting the shit. My spring guide is there now… https://www.instagram.com/reel/C2St_RWu4O0/?igsh=MWZ0dXg5bW16YWp0Yw==

That’s so cool’s an so amazing. I’m really glad you shared. You can also tell your friend you know an athletic trans woman who gets her ass kicked on the reg in tennis. I win too. Kinda like anyone else. We are outliers to begin with, the ones of us who need to sit on the sidelines because a legit transition hasn’t yet happened or finished are exceedingly rare, like .01% of .1%, what is that .001%.
  12. I’ve work with him all the time, have with TJ as well. Don’t recall the others. I was fishing with Tom when the TXSC ruling came down. We cracked open a beer and kept floating down the Colorado hunting Guadalupe bass on a fly rod. made me wish I was a litigator not a corporate lawyer for a hot minute. Just a minute.
  13. Tom is a bad ass. Highly recommend him for high profile employment cases. He’s also just a genuine good guy, always does the right thing, the real right thing not the Jesus fake right thing.
  14. 100% this. And the lack analytical thinking on this topic by the collective college football world has been super annoying. Texas was paying players all along my ass. I also think Texas stayed the hell out of the SEC for years with their bag game being the number one objection. I think there were plenty of other objections but the cheating was easily number 1. It’s no coincidence Texas said ok we will join once NIL came on and as we all know it’s no coincidence saban retired.
  15. That’s age and gravity for most on surly not some sign of dominance.
  16. So what’s DeBoer’s grade so far on assistants?
  17. Maybe true but I saw Bijan with his lambo at the collective gym in north Austin right after he declared. Seemed like a normal run of the mill day and he was driving it. He said hi to me with a smile as well. I shoulda winked at him but didn’t.
  18. Fair enough but I’m not comparing Miami to Alabama I’m comparing Miami to Northwestern and Vanderbilt.
  19. Look the fact that you watched shitty movies and went shopping that’s on you. Some of us went fishing, hiking and got laid on those Saturdays. Everyone has to own their choices buddy.
  20. So do Indiana, Purdue, Vanderbilt, Mississippi state, northwestern, and other dog shit programs that are just historically lucky get to stay? I’d much rather see Miami in the mix over shittier programs.
  21. I’m gonna sit with this decision for a week or so then go talk to them. Y’all know me, I like the nice things so I’ll probably stick to the L brand. I need to get my f350 fixed back up and I can drive that as a second if need be for 6 months - it’s not common we need two cars since I work from home. My son will be fully licensed today so we have him to help out too.
  22. I think I’m going to get that gx550 unless I have to wait a year. Only thing is no hybrid so we may lease for 3-4 years expecting they will have it fully electric or at least hybrid by then.
