  1. 1. Quinn makes NFL throws with regularity, 15 yard outs and comebacks. Most college teams don’t run plays like that because QBs can’t make those throws consistently at this level at Quinn just dimes em. Quinn also shows an uncanny ability to drop perfect passes between the layers of a zone defense, which is a highly coveted skill for a QB in the NFL. 2. You’re making too much of the talent around Quinn. Worthy is an electric player, but he has inconsistent hands and can’t track a deep ball to save his life. Mitchell has a great catch radius and makes good adjustments to the ball, but he isn’t a physical player and he tends to disappear for large sections of games due to loafing. Sanders is just an incredible TE, but he’s been injured a lot this year. This offense is talented, but it’s not like they’re carrying Quinn. 3. Quinn has improved dramatically from last year to this year by any metric and saying otherwise is absurdly stupid. 4. One freshman QB has won a Heisman and a natty. One. Most freshman and sophomore QBs don’t play very well at all. Wanna know what Joe Burrow’s redshirt sophomore stats were? 7-11 for 61 yards and no TDs. RS junior year? 219-379, 16 TDs, 5 picks, 133.2 rating. That’s a guy two years older than Quinn throwing to future first round picks at WR. Quinn is better than Joe Burrow was at that stage while being younger. 5. Quinn’s not perfect, but he’s a lot better than you’re giving him credit for. You deserve the raft of shit you’re getting for your awful take.
  2. Ahh now I know you’re being a troll, which freshman qb’s win heisman trophies???? I’ll hang up and listen.
  3. what at all have you seen from QE that leads you to believe he’s an NFL qb? he’s not even a particularly notable college qb despite being surrounded by elite talent and elite QB coaching. he’s also making the same mistakes and showing the same poor mechanics as he was last year, despite being coached by the best QB coach in the country. in an era where freshman QBs win heisman trophies and put up obscene numbers while playing spectacularly, QE being a 3rd year guy who isn’t in the top 50% of best players in his own offense does not portend well for his future as an NFL qb.
  4. So Quinn isn't as good as two 5th/6th year guys and a returning Heisman winner that was pegged as the top qb in the draft before the season started? Welp, I'm out on him now.
  5. I am glad we have Quinn, but I also remember Heisman rumbles early in the season. He looks great at times, and as has been mentioned many times, has learned to throw the ball away. The sort of things players learn after a year and a half as a starter. But if I am being honest, flashes of brilliance are not why you take an early pick on a QB in the NFL. Look at Quinn's TCU games the last two years. Would you draft him off of those specific performances? Last year obviously a big No, this year? A great half, followed by a 3 point 49 yard field goal? I would also worry about Quinn's size and durability if I am an NFL manager. The one thing I was sort of surprised about is that unlike so many of our QB's Quinn has not gotten bigger and packed on the muscle that will help his durability. He reminds me a lot of Shane Buechele except a little smaller (and playing behind a decent OL). So there is certainly a path for Quinn to the NFL. I will give Quinn a little breather room coming off and injury, for his performance against TCU. But the bottom line is, putting up 3 points in a half as an elite top flight QB, is not exactly confidence building, especially from and NFL perspective. Now if Quinn comes out and lights the world on fire the next two weeks and kicks ass in the bowl (praying for Playoff here) game, then he can raise his stock. But right now I look at him as a very talented not too durable. It also might also be useful to remember that Quinn was expected to push CJ Stroud out as the starter at Ohio State. All that being said I think somebody in the NFL will draft him this year. I am still uncertain that he truly bleeds burnt orange, which is the main reason a player would return. I think he has matured and realized what a great opportunity he has here at Texas. But is that a respect for the program and a desire to better his future? Or has he fallen in love with the place? I hope it's the latter as much as the former, but I don't think anyone knows the real answer here. I just want us to have a QB that can lead us not only in the first half, but in the second half as well to step on the neck of the opponent. Quinn has an opportunity to show us this killer instinct this weekend.
  6. My little brother stuck around for seven years and changed majors a dozen times and this is the reason why. Only other places I've seen with consistently equivalent talent: Tceh and Texas State. Back on topic, 10 rookie QBs started this season in the NFL, a new record. The previous record was just four years ago (Kyler Murray, Daniel Jones, Dwayne Haskins, Gardner Minshew, Drew Lock, Devlin Hodges, Will Grier, Ryan Finley, and David Blough). You couldn't pick some of those guys out of a lineup if the other people in the lineup were all dressed as team mascots, and at least four of those guys, and maybe six, had nothing like the arm Quinn has. If people think Quinn isn't getting drafted...what the fuck are you smoking and did you buy it legally? If it's me, I'm thinking my contract could be $9-$12 million now and there's no telling whether I get tossed into the fire rookie season and I'm out of the league due to another injury, or I could stick around, maybe win a Heisman behind the best OL in college, make another seven figures in NIL money, have my career insured by Lloyd's, and my first contract could be $33-$35 million...among the other, ahem, perks.
  7. There's no question if he declares he will be drafted based on potential and upside, but based on his body of work so far in CFB you know Quinn has to be asking himself how high he would be drafted coming out this year. If he comes back he will once again land on Heisman lists and have a chance to even win the thing if he improves just a little bit. Of course I don't know how Quinn or those around him think...as in I wouldn't put money on him coming back. If he comes back he absolutely will be on the radar for lots of awards, and it has to be tempting.

  9. Such as Longhornlove? Not touching this thread as of now lol. I still think there's a greater chance he declares than comes back, but the chance of coming back has risen as his draft stock has fallen. He was in everyone's Heisman watch list early in the season, now not even on those that go 20 deep. That could change with some great performances the next 2-3 games, but he won't be invited to NY with this much ground to catch up.
  10. From the '70s to '90s, Miami had Jim Kelly, Bernie Kosar, Vinnie Testaverde, Steve Walsh, Craig Erickson, and Gino Torretta, the latter three of which won national championships in '87, '89, and '91 (and Kosar won in '83), with Testaverde and Torretta winning the Heisman. In terms of college production that streak is unreal, but consider that three of those QBs had lengthy NFL careers and the other three also started NFL games under center, and I doubt any school matches that streak.
  11. I was only considering collegiate production. In Vince, then Colt, we had two of the best back-to-back starting quarterbacks in the history of college football. One should've won the Heisman and the other was in the top three in back-to-back seasons. Yes, I know we had a couple of years while Colt matured into the juggernaut he was in 2008 and 2009 but let's be honest, if he hadn't gotten hurt his freshman year, the Longhorns would've won the Big 12 title and gone into the bowl season with just the one loss to Ohio State. OU went from Baker Mayfield to Kyler Murray to Jalen Hurts, then Spencer Rattler before Caleb Williams, which is pretty remarkable. I'm sure there are other examples but I'm having a hard time coming up with them.
  12. Chris Simms was the #1 player in the country coming out of high school. He was very similar to Arch Manning in a lot of ways given his family pedigree and skills. If Mack had done with Simms what we are doing with Arch, everything would have been so much better. Imagine the following: 1998 - Major Applewhite starts while Ricky wins Heisman 1999 - Major Applewhite starts and earns Big 12 Offensive PoY. Chris Simms redshirts 2000 - Major Applewhite starts. Simms gets mop up duty instead of splitting 1/3 the stats. Same 9-3 record but both QBs keep confidence. 2001 - Major Applewhite starts. We still barely lose to OU, but this time we beat Colorado and play Miami for the title. Simms gets a lot of run since we had nine blowouts. Major Applewhite graduates with two Big-12 titles and a National Title appearance. 2002 - Chris Simms starts as a RS-JR - Maybe a more confident Simms improves on our 11-2 record, we beat Tech and play for another title? 2003 - Chris Simms starts as a RS-SR - There is no Vince Young vs. Chance Mock debate. Instead Vince backs up Simms and gets plenty of mop-up time. At this point Simms was a great QB. No way we lose to Arkansas. Instead of 10-3, we go 11-2 or 12-1 and likely win another BCS bowl. 2004 - Vince Young starts Those teams were absolutely loaded and the QB mismanagement cost us at least one trip to the MNC game, maybe two.
  13. And 04/05/08/09 were the good years out of 03-09. 7 years and 3 weren’t title contention years. Point is QBs need time to develop. QE would be an all American and heisman finalist next year IMO.
  14. It’s such a deep QB draft, he can come back, try for the heisman and have a much better shot at being a top 2 qb drafted next year.
  15. the reason: Texas fans. i remember when quinn committed how all of my friends who follow recruiting were basically acting like we’d just signed tom brady, when in fact we’d simply gotten a verbal commit from some doughy, goofy looking 26 year old kid from SLC. from the day he verbally committed to Texas our fans talked about him the way beano cook talked about ron pawlus. it was as if quinn’s commitment was a guarantee of heisman trophies and national titles. our fans never learn. nope, no matter how many 5*, can’t-miss studs we sign who flame out, or how many underrated 3* guys become AA’s and award winners, our fans will always cling to the next big commit as if VY is walking back through that door. and once that happens, it’s just easier for all of them to completely ignore reality/anything negative, lest their world view be shattered. easier to just keep deluding yourself than to admit that you got all of your hopes up only to be let down again (never mind that your irrationally high hopes are to blame for your disappointment much more so than QE and/or Sark).
  16. Wut? If he comes back for his senior season we beat Ohio state again, we mud hole Oklahoma, we dog walk Alabama for back to back titles and he most certainly wins the heisman. He goes 1,1 if he comes back for another year. Bad take and you should feel bad. Haha jk but seriously.
  17. QE came from a bit of money already and is cashing in quite nicely. This is not a kid from an impoverished background so “don’t judge him for being all ‘show me the money’” type of deal. I don’t judge anyone for wanting to make money. Good for them! Make as much as they can for as long as they can. If Quinn stays he has a chance for a Heisman and perhaps be an overall top pick. that is not happening for him this year. Gets one more year with Sark to work on things and bulk up more. Most good HCs have said (bc I read and watch the draft) they don’t like it when a QB leaves early. Period. Quinn can do what he wants but I think he’s getting bad advice to leave this year. If that’s what he’s being told. That’s my opinion. If you think different, great! You’re entitled to your opinion. Ofcourse if QBs just want to avoid Chicago this might be the year to go pro. I don’t see how Caleb sidesteps a lot of the shitty shitty teams no matter what his dad says or thinks.
  18. Arch Manning’s “people” which include two SB winning QBs and a grandfather who just happens to run a prestigious QB camp told him to play his senior year of HS. Told him to play all four years of college before going pro. Wanted him to sit and learn his freshman year of college and to stay and graduate and also to play his whole time here. To learn under Sark. Quinn’s people (or QE makes all his own decisions) told him against Ohio State’s advice to not play his senior year of high school, and to allegedly leave early for the NFL. If we were talking about any other position but QB, either approach could be the right one. Now with NIL kids don’t have to leave early to get paid. QE is making money. We know he’s talented but now he’s been injured three times since his junior year of HS where he has missed and possibly will miss a few games. At the start of the season he was a top 3 QB. Now many of the mock drafts I see online have him not only after Maye and Caleb. They also have him after Penix and McCarthy. If he misses significant time (we all hope not) and we don’t make the CCG and CFP this year, there will be more hype for the QBs that are in it and eyeballs on them. He’s already out of the running for a Heisman as is Caleb who probably regrets he stayed his final year but he’ll be compensated as a number 1 pick. TLDR: I think Arch’s people are giving him better advice than Quinn’s people and Arch’s people actually know what the fuck they are talking about and have the receipts to back it up.
  19. i apologize, but i’m failing to understand the point of the posts directed at me that are mentioning other unanimous no.1 recruits. tim tebow, adrian peterson, jadaveon clowney, trevor lawrence, etc etc. i’m genuinely asking, because i don’t understand what point y’all are trying to make. all of those guys were far better college football players than QE has been which only supports the point i’ve been making, specifically that QE’s hype- the fan expectations, the heisman talk, the projected first round draft grade, etc- are a product of his HS rankings (and the fact that he has arm talent) and not based on his actual body of work as a college QB.
  20. Lighten up francis gif, all I was saying was greg davis offenses put up a metric fuck ton of points and stats. I would take it again in a heartbeat. We aren't this juggernaut historically that just wins conference championships, heismans, thorpe awards, or national championships. I was simply stating that what Sark is doing currently is fine with me, ugly or not lol.
  21. people keep referencing this, but it’s a disingenuous comparison. colt’s sophomore year was an outlier (he was coming off a neck injury and he lost his nfl o-line from his freshman year, plus his team was arguably worse than the year prior, as opposed to his team being far better as is the case with QE) and more importantly, Colt was placed *second* in the rocky mountain news headman poll when he got hurt as a freshman. colt was arguably (definitely?) more polished as a redshirt frosh than QE is right now, he just never had QE’s hype or physical skills. footwork, timing, accuracy, pocket presence, mastery of the offense, and so on and so forth, they all go in Colt’s favor. so whereas Colt took a step *down* in season two at Texas for various reasons, QE has taken a giant leap forward this year, and yet we keep comparing their two seasons as if it indicates that they’re on the same track, when they’re really not. colt as a freshman: looked to be a heisman finalist before going down as a sophomore: outlier year coming off injury and playing behind an inferior OL as a junior: all american heisman finalist as a senior: all american heisman finalist one QB played at a heisman level as freshman and outside of his sophomore year maintained that level of play. the other QB has never looked like a heisman contender and still has lots of work to go before he is Colt’s equal in pretty much everything that isn’t arm talent. i think we should tap the brakes on this comp. all it’s really showing is that the worst version of colt looked pretty similar on paper to the best version of QE.
  22. Then what are we even talking about. This started with a stat post comparing them for 7 games in their redshirt sophomore season. What’s the point of that? It tells us nothing. You can’t hand wave away Colt’s success because he played for a good team. Greg Davis was calling his plays lol. Colt never had a group of weapons like this team has. Colt was Heisman candidate level in every season he was here except his sophomore year. If you compare their full tenures to this point, they aren’t comparable. That’s not a slight on Quinn. He just hasn’t been at that level yet.
  23. As a RS freshman, Colt was going to go to NY as a Heisman finalist before he busted his shoulder against K-State in November.
  24. Colt led us to a 3-1 record over OU, was a Heisman candidate three times, and had us a Gideon dropped pass away from back to back national championship game appearances. Please dont disrespect Colt like that.
  25. I was prepared for heisman candidate play, thanks for the heads up.
