Unless it’s not a federal crime I guess. But he would if he could.

Even if the appeals judges had thrown out their hate-crime convictions, the trio faced no immediate reprieve from prison. That’s because they’re also serving life sentences for murder after being convicted in a Georgia state court.

It says 11th Circuit so it's federal. Pardon incoming.

I seem to remember that they were convicted of state murder charges and also federal civil rights charges, but I might be mistaken on that

Correct.  The opinion, if anyone cares. https://media.ca11.uscourts.gov/opinions/pub/files/202212792.pdf

This appeal arises from the federal convictions of Travis McMichael, Gregory McMichael, and William Bryan for their involvement in the tragic shooting death of Ahmaud Arbery. In Georgia state court, defendants were convicted of murder and other charges and given life sentences.1 Following their state trial, they were tried and convicted in federal court of interference with rights, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 245(b)(2)(B), and attempted kidnapping, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1201(a)(1).

Because the Georgia prosecution and judiciary did its job here, I object on principle to federal charges, trial and conviction.

the whole point of federal hate crime legislation is because backwoods folks like to let these kind of turds off.  and that's not just limited to the trial court.  ga appeals court tosses it and you're left in a bad shape without the feds on board.

Nah, would not be a good look going into next year's elections.

Of course it will help. "I can't afford beef or rent but by gawd at least he's putting those Black's in their place." That's how maga works. You can literally ruin their lives as long as you give them a license to be racist fucks. They'll vote maga like good racist sheep.
