Setting Up a Virtual Private Network

Recommended Posts

I know absolutely nothing about VPN's but I am considering setting one up for my house.  Not a tin foil hat type person but I'd like the extra layer of privacy.

My internet/wifi is from ATT if that matters.

Are they worth it?  Do they work?  What do I need to know and what is the best way to set one up?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

avatar explains a lot.

just my amateur take - i use them on a device by device basis rather than my whole home network.  i've heard a vpn can sometimes be problematic with services uch as netflix, so i like the ability to be able to control it on an as-needed basis.

I was about to start a new thread and found this one.

Anyone else have thoughts? Are they worth it? Just someone else tracking your shit? Which ones are good, not good, etc?

Do you have something to hide?  If so, yes, it's an added layer of security.  Defense in depth, if you will.
