That's funny, I've always thought the "Tell me about ...." threads were about Texas fans shit talking specifically about the subject school and not a thread on the Texas board for the fans of that sub

  • Keep ‘em coming - the Yormark and McGuire memes and vids - not only are they well deserved, most of them are hilarious. 🤣   Now that the Tech/UT series is officially over - or at least pause

Double down, by all means.

So that Tech can continue to "dominate" multiple games of blackjack against booger-eating 8 year olds and then sit at the table of sharks and get eaten alive.

It's a cheap attempt to besmirch Campbell, who has had his missteps, leadership-wise; but if he was breaking/ avoiding rules on NIL; rest assured, the football establishment would be up his ass about it.

He just paid everyone 2x before the deadline. Not really breaking rules just bending them. Hope he enjoyed that turd yesterday as much as Aggy enjoyed their number 1recruiting class.

That was an embarrassing performance. The trend of teams with first round byes losing in the semis appears to be continuing this season. I will not be surprised in the slightest if Alabammer knocks off Indiana to continue that trend.

Why not?

What's a few million $ to a billionaire like Campbell. This is his hobby - buying football players.

Really fascinating to see the money man so clearly the face of the program and HC just a guy who stands on the sidelines. Very hard not to see shades of Jerrah and the Cowboys here. Lubbock is spiritually part of DFW so makes sense.

I hate to be the "SECSECSEC" guy but if you placed Tech in the SEC, they'd struggle to make a bowl game even with aggy's schedule. Not to mention if they actually had play a schedule like ours, they'd have a losing record. Ohio St, OU, aggy, Georgia - that's 4 losses right off the bat. Vandy also beats them. That's 5. In the SEC, they are more on the level of your Kentucky, Miss St, Florida teams.

Big 12 is nothing more than a glorified Mountain West and this shit stain conference is getting automatic bids with byes.

These conferences are not equal. Hell, even the ACC dwarfs what the Big 12 is rolling out. At what point is the Big 12 relegated down to a non P4 status? Not sure which teams in there actual belong at the big boy table. I don't see many, if any.

And to think, a lot of people were mad that BYU was left out for Miami, lol. Big 12 are a bunch of midgets playing each other and you do have some taller midgets like Tech and BYU who look good when you only let them face Big 12 teams. Tech ran through that shitty conference with ease and people became fascinated with them.

Okay makes sense. I really have spent zero time understanding NIL and whatnot. In my rudimentary understanding I thought schools have a cap on what they can spend, but outside money is however much they want to spend. I am sure I am probably way off on the specifics. If Campbell wants to spend money on the school he graduated from go for it. Spend as much as you legally can and pay the players in whatever sport you see fit. There are issues I know I think differently on than Campbell, but sports-wise spend on your school if that is what you want to do.

Just a simple clarification. For the first time ever, schools can spend their own revenue, up to $21M, on payments to athletes.

The NIL model of compensation is not so limited. But it is ostensibly to be coupled to a NIL consideration and is not ostensibly directed by the university or team.

The NIL collective, which I think Campbell primarily employs, does kind of skirt the intent of NIL. But err'one uses em.

That's my understanding, the revenue share is limited to $20M (approx.) and there is no real limit on NIL but they have a "clearing house" that is meant to ensure that NIL payments are actual market value for NIL and not pay to play. But that's fucking absurd and will never hold up in court imo. If Big Red Sports and Imports wants to give a guy $3M in exchange for a 10 second radio spot what legal basis can there be to deny that payment? Neither the player nor the company ever agreed to be hamstrung by a "clearing house" nor did they agree to arbitration as discussed on the linked article. And isn't market value whatever someone is willing to pay? If not Big Red Sports and Imports in Norman that player probably could get a similar deal from some cheesy car dealership in Baton Rouge. I'm kind of a broken record but the reason salary caps and other limitations work in the pros is the collective bargaining agreement where the players agreed to those limitations in which they negotiated and usually receive higher salary caps (and therefore higher paychecks). Without that the NCAA and whatever other entities are created to try and limit this stuff will fail in court. I can even see federal legislation failing to reign it in based on constitutional rights to economic freedom (that's a bigger discussion for a different time just throwign it out there because it's definitely an issue).

can't wait for the new "clearinghouse" discussions where our guys get held up and Bama, aggy and UGA players have zero issues.

meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

History tells us they'll throw the hammer at OKST because they always fuck with us and only us with real punishments and nobody else especially bluebloods. Rumors are we're backing up a Brinks truck for Drew Mestemaker, if they're gonna try to step in, that is where they'll do it, but I doubt they will even try at this point cancelling any deals. If they do I suspect with established precedents we'll push back.
