I was never a fan of Keanu until a couple years ago when my son asked if we could watch John Wick.  So we dialed up Chapter 1, and I was hooked.  We watched the other chapters equally entertained, and saw Chapter 4 in the theater.

I still wouldn't call him a great actor.  He has very limited range.  But when he does stuff like John Wick and The Matrix, he does them very, very well, and I am entertained.

And for whatever it's worth, I've always read that he's one of the genuinely good dudes in Hollywood.

When his first movie came out I was, "Yawn another shoot 'em up" came out.  Watched it on Amazon on the rec of a friend and was immediatly sucked in.

He's an adequate actor but tremendous entertainer.  Just like Tom Cruise you see him trying SO hard you just gotta pull for him.  You aren't cheering on John Wick so much as Keanu Reeve.

I hope they get into the part about who it was who stepped up with the emergency financing.  It's a great story in itself.

Historically, I don't see Tom Cruise and Keanu Reeves on the same level.  Yes, Cruise seems to have gone exclusively to blockbuster big-money action movies over the past several years.  But he has a list of fantastic dramatic performances that blow anything Keanu has done out of the water.  Risky Business, The Color of Money, Rain Man, Born on the Fourth of July, A Few Good Men, The Firm, Magnolia.

I know it seems like forever since Cruise has taken a role like those.  But those performances are way beyond Keanu's range.

I do like your "adequate actor but tremendous entertainer" label.

Why you hate All The Right Moves?

This is my experience exactly.  Never really considered watching John Wick, but when my son convinced me we both were blown away.  Keanu is perfect for this type of role.  The John Wick universe is so well done.
