Starting with a trash OL is what I’m talking about here in regards to Sark’s abilities , but the argument isn’t sark can’t win 9 or 10 games. The argument is sark has all the tools to be Kirby smart or Ryan day but in year 6 he doesn’t seem to be capable of that. If you spend $15-$20 million a year then you gotta expect to win a title or be in the running to win it. I guess I’m looking at it all wrong. Ignore me and I’ll hold my opinion until December of 26.

Well, since Smart won his first MNC in year 6, and Day won his first in year 6, I guess we will see next year if Sark can be a Smart and/or day in his 6th year.

I hope he does break through next year but leave out the whiny smart antics and the pedo Day aura.

Texas being a blue blood is not mutually exclusive from being smart & startegic with our scheduling.

If smart & strategic scheduling (as opposed to a having a disciplined, well-coached team) is what’s needed to get into the CFP, then we should’ve just stayed in the shithole Big 12 and we could’ve had a permanent yearly spot in the CFP like Texas Tech will for the foreseeable future.

The portal played a big role in the success of Indiana and Cignetti.

Don't have a quarterback, just go get the Heisman winner out of the portal.

No, we are not getting Cignetti, but that is not the point.

Cignetti proved that to win today, you don't have to be a blue-blood. You have to be able to replace mediocre players through the portal, actually get the most out of your top athletes (who knew?), develop your players and field a well-prepared, focused and motivated team.

I have no confidence that our current coach can accomplish that.

We can stay in the SEC, schedule OOC like Indiana, and we are in the Playoffs most years (and would have been this year).

Some of you fuckers have room temp IQs.

Both Smart and Day reached the National Championship game in Year 2 (both loses) and some people are still here in Year 6 of Sark pumping up his resume because of his two back-to-back semifinal loss appearances. I get the point you’re trying to make about winning it all in Year 6, but that seems like a reach when we can’t even get invited to the playoff in Year 5 with a multimillion dollar roster.

Idk man that game was awesome. It just sucks that the team shit their fucking pants through the 2nd bye week basically.

This. I want us playing another top tier OOC team once a year. We win then theres no horseshit about an easy schedule. That and we dont look like a bunch of bitch asses. Lose then it is paramount we learn from our mistakes and take care of business in conference.

Losing to the bottom rung in our conference should never be in the equation. I remember when it wasnt. We were expected to and did beat everyone who wasnt in the top 3 during the SWC days and most of the Big 12 era. That is where Texas must and can reside in the SEC as well.

Consensus of many mock drafts has Goosby at #40.

That site is a good aggregation of the mock drafts... It tracks 73 mock drafts for Goosby. 31 of them have him in the first round. Some of them involve the same person at different times during the year. Unscientific and most of those guys know as much about football as some of our weaker posters.

I get it. It’s really early and there will be a lot of movement. I was just saying that it is not crazy that Goosby could become a 1st round guy.

You sir are an idiot.

Sark is not getting fired no matter what his record is next year and he got nowhere near being fired this year.

This is certainly an opinion, completely wrong, but an opinion nonetheless. If he went full Mike Norvell next season there is a 0.00% chance he is retained, and the bar is a lot higher than that.

Good idea.

I would love to hear the “fire Sark” idiots explain who they think we could hire that would be better.

Sark is a good coach, he’s better than at least 60% of the other meatheads out there, but there are better coaches and they all like money. Being a really good OC doesn’t mean you will be a really good HC, it’s a different skillset My opinion is Sark is a top 5% playcaller and maybe a top 75% HC. Playing both roles diminishes both.

To think we couldn’t upgrade our HC or that we couldn’t afford to get someone we really wanted is about the same quality post as your previous one.

What's the solution? Start over?

Is getting to the semifinal really that damn different than reaching the title game?

A bunch of items conspired to contribute to IU’s success in the past 2 years.

Very good coach focused on attention to detail; portal; deep NIL pockets; weak Big10 schedules.

2024 - SOS = 35. Losses to Notre Dame and Ohio State, their only ranked Opponents.

2025 - SOS = 28. Undefeated. Beat 3 (at the time) ranked opponents: Illinois (9), @Oregon (3), tOSU (1).

IU is a better team this year, but they drew powerhouses like Purdue, MSU, UCLA, and Wisconsin in conference this year. The OOC schedule of Old Dominion, Indiana State, and Kennesaw State is quite underwhelming.

Bump Roster info 2026

I added a 2026 tab https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TzoBTIvCXfZIk7Sz3C9txMg0yPvrXyVM/edit?gid=1327300395#gid=1327300395

Players that are widely known not to be returning (NFL or transfer) are in italics. There will be many more leaving, but I'll let that play out. The starters and rotational guys will change quite a bit after portal season. I couldn't bring myself to color code an entire 2-deep since we have so many shitty options. We need need a lot of portal help.

There's a legend at the bottom that explains the abbreviations after a player's name:

RS - Used a redshirt
WO - Walk-on
EE - Early enrollee
TR - Transfer
BS - Blue shirt

I haven't seen a reliable list of early enrollees for 2026 yet, so that will need to be updated. I also updated the Texas by Class and Texas Grid tabs.

Still need to add the 2026 class to the Aggie Grid tab, but the players with no more eligibility have been removed and redshirt status has been updated. Concepcion will be declaring for the NFL. Bisontis, Ricks, and York have been mentioned as possibly declaring for NFL as well.

People keep saying this like the portal is this super secret thing that other teams don’t have access to

There is nothing secret about the portal, but it makes coaches better, funny how that happens with better players.

You think Texas would have made the semis in the CFP either year without it and players like Golden and Mitchell.

This year Texas wasn't nearly as successful in the portal, and they missed the CFP.

Then someone should tell Sark about it so he can try it.

You only need to replicate perhaps the greatest two-season coaching job in this century. It's that easy!

You're right. We shouldn't raise our expectations. We should just stay the current path and be happy with a pretty good team, cause that is looking like our ceiling with Sark.

Or, you know, maybe better coaches use the portal better

Both can certainly be the case. If Cignetti keeps up his current success in the portal, the advantage is his.

The portal is what coaches make of it.

Sark did well twice, but this past season, not so much.

I feel like sark’s biggest weaknesses are lack of circumspection and poor self critique. When you are the head of an organization those are critical skills, unless you have capable people under you who trust they can be honest with you, and you are willing to consider their advice. Sark doesn’t seem like that type of leader to me

Everything is coming to a head in 2026. This is either a turning point for him and Texas football or there will be serious disappointment.

Preach! So many keep bitching that we should immediately scrubs the return home games with tOSU and Michigan (after we gave up the road games) like the schedule was a bigger impediment to our championship chances than the fact this team isn’t a top 5 (or maybe even top 10) squad. Talent was lacking due to poor portal/recruiting, a disengaged Sark in the offseason, and poor coaching/preparation in games we lost or came close to losing. Is the goal to make the playoff or to win a championship? For the most severely butt hurt, our signature wins were against a flawed OU team, a fraud aggy team, and a Vandy team that finished lower than us. 2025 Texas would need a miracle to even return to the semifinals.

Playing against good opponents makes you a better team. Winning a championship requires starting with top 10 talent and depth, effective offseason program, great coaching, and luck. Being too chickenshit to play UM or tOSU at home might let a team like 2025 Texas sneak into the playoffs, but it damn sure isn’t winning a title without addressing the larger problems. Improve talent and coaching, and you don’t have to worry about dropping games to shitty teams like Florida and nearly UK/MSU.
