Buttigieg 2020

The wonderful thing about the Two Minutes Hope was not that one was obliged to act a part, but, on the contrary, that it was impossible to avoid joining in. Within thirty seconds any pretense was always unnecessary. A hideous ecstasy of joy and wonderment, a desire to spin, to push, to wave, to clap your two hands, seemed to flow through the whole group of people like an electric current, turning one even against one's will into a smiling, dancing lunatic.

Pure armchair speculation but Pete’s role seems to be to ensure Biden wins the nomination.  He can siphon the progressive curious/moderate/low information white votes while posing no threat to Biden’s base of black voters.  Biden can’t win Iowa or NH so Pete is positioned to play defense to keep the progressives from gaining any formidable momentum going into Super Tuesday.

It’s a good strategy.

- The dance is funny to laugh at, but who cares
- Lying about black support in South Carolina is even more fun to laugh at, but who cares
- Using right-wing talking points against single-payer healthcare makes me fucking hate him and want bad things to happen to him because it reveals someone who will betray every progressive value he pretends to have as soon as it becomes politically expedient for him to do so. He won't fight for shit. He won't accomplish shit.

I’m okay with candidates advocating for a public option even if I feel it’s not aggressive enough but when candidates start campaigning AGAINST single payer in a Democratic Primary it’s counterproductive and a red flag. Pretty much puts you on my shit list.

Black voters - and especially black women - are the most strident and loyal part of the Dem base. If you can’t speak to them, they ain’t gonna vote for you. I surely am tired of Democrats thinking they’ll just show up Bc we tell them too.

Maybe they just ain't gonna vote.

I certainly am not counting or assuming any demographic is going to show up in force just because.  You put your best candidate out there and maybe they will.

Oh it gets worse:

considering 2/3 of those are idiotic/inaccurate, i would say the previous stuff on this page are far worse/more embarrassing situations for pete and his staffers.

but nice to see the #justiceforbeto peeps promoting #peteforgovernor.  what an odd agenda.

Beto, Kamala, Castro, Warren, and Sanders supporters are out for blood right now. Good grief.

It’s called a primary. Many of those named above have faced far worse criticism and even more outright hostility and lies about their record or positions.

If you can’t handle the heat....

I’m kind of hoping Pete wins the nomination if only to see him get destroyed by Trump in the debates.

Pete: and that is why my market based approach to healthcare freedom for all Americans who qualify for voucher based assistance under their employer’s plan is the best way forward.

Trump: Mayor Pete? More like Gay-bore Pete.

(crowd goes fucking wild)

Surely Pete built a children's hospital or something he can credit claim on.

You're lucky Pete doesn't have time to peruse political subforums on semi-popular college football messageboards or you could expect all 93 pounds of him to whoop your ass.

Count your blessings, Hugo.

Would be very interested in the full remarks. Looks really dumb.

If Hillary had made one or two speeches in Ohio that had this non-controversial content she might be President today.  (No idea what rest of speech was like.)

Which would suck but which would suck less than it sucks today.

Those who remember Buttigieg’s outreach at the 2010 forum say he wasn’t a tea party follower or sympathizer. One of the event’s organizers recently called him a “socialist.” Rather, they saw someone eager to be on equal footing with the Republican incumbent, Richard Mourdock, in front of any audience that would have him.

“He certainly wasn’t going to let his opponent come to his hometown and not be there,” Jeff Harris, who managed Buttigieg’s 2010 campaign, said in a recent telephone interview with BuzzFeed News. “I think it was an opportunity to be on the same stage with the incumbent when Treasurer Mourdock was ducking and dodging at every opportunity.”

As I am fond of saying - don't let perfect be the enemy of good.  Some ostensible "progressives" would prefer another Trump term over a progressive Mayor Pete administration.

Don't forget quite a few Yang Gang and Tulsi "supporters" will be voting for Trump.
