    Oh god, Beato talk.
  9. Jebus, Bruins 9, Rangers 2, two guys with hatties and Pasta with 6 assists.
  10. No idea how I missed that. SMH.
  11. That combined with you can't pay people to sit the bench anymore. The top players you need have gotten way too expensive. Teams have to put their resources in those players and a few players like a Justice Terry or Lance Jackson they anticipate developing into top level starters in a year. Everyone else is getting offered peanuts in comparison. The days of paying big money out of HS for anyone not projected to be a major star have to be over. I doubt any mid to high 4 star guy gets offered anywhere near what they have in the past. This is just that transition year where last year's recruits were paid on the old model but this year's portal is working off the new rev share model.
  12. Alabama -11.5 at home? Doesn’t seem high enough to me.
  13. SMU hanging with Duke without our best player (flu).
  14. We'd also have to believe that all the other GMs are equally inept what with other blue blood rosters draining of that bottom/middle (relative to starters) talent. The Great Flattening is upon us. Rejoice and despair!
  15. Damnit, Derka!
  16. Wisner had over 1,000 yards in 2024, to be fair.
  17. Both things can be true. Ideally you have a GM who can articulate the trajectory a player is on within the program, what that envisioned role is worth and what the player can do to change that role. There’s also a level of consistency, professionalism and engagement you want from someone in that role, which it doesn’t seem like Harris is bringing. There was an article talking about what TCU(?) was doing to prepare for the portal. They focused their portal scouting on players from the region, those they had previously recruited or those who have some connection to the state or program. Judging from our pursuit of the Michigan olinemen we don’t have that philosophy, and depending on how things wrap up that could be an expensive and damaging self inflicted wound.
  18. People on the internet are discussing how the latest Trump exec order from Friday will prevent the sale of Venezuelan oil from paying for any previous claims unless of course Trump oks it. What are among these other claims against that oil? ConocoPhillips and XOM both have claims of $12-20B, and Chevron is still attempting to recoup its losses there. Maybe if they put more money into it now, the old losses will be allowable to be collected. Sounds like some slot machine logic to me. This guy committed to Alabama, and they are melting down on social media he is visiting Texas. The portal is becoming more brutal with every day that passes. Another report says Cam Coleman is now a battle between Bama and Texas and neither is backing down moneywise; things change quickly if this is the case. 22. For the other distance runners here, what are you doing for carbs and fluids throughout long runs and on race day? I was doing a GU gel about every 5 miles, so that would be 4-5 gels for a full marathon. I was also using Propel electrolyte packets (zero carbs) in my water bottle, or drinking the water and Gatorade provided on a race day course. That usually works for a ~15 mile run, but I've had problems in the past with hitting the wall around mile 21-22 of a full marathon. I've been reading up on it and realized I am way too low on my carb intake. I'm hearing people using GU every 20 minutes, or equivalent carbs from gels and drink mixes to get about 100g carbs per hour. Looking at different running resources and podcasts, there seems to be a lot of discussion about this the last couple of years. I guess I'm a little behind, but this is an easy adjustment that can hopefully give a big performance boost and avoid the dreaded hitting the wall. It seems painfully obvious now. Lately, I've been doing a GU every 4 miles instead of 5 miles and I've replaced my Propel packets with a combo of Tailwind and Maurten drink mixes, both of which contain carbs. I've noticed good results on long runs and I'd like to get the GU gels every 3-3.5 miles if my stomach tolerates it, which so far, it has. Curious what regimens other people use.
