I'm interested to see more of the story on Spencer. By this, he's 31 when the U.S. enters World War I.
  2. That was the most quintessential LSU play anyone could ever dream up.
  3. No. They were ranked ~11. They lost to Oklahoma State the week before.
  4. They just started filming, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's 2024. I liked Galadriel in this episode. Hopefully this version sticks around. And I'm glad we got a Celeborn shoutout. So far I'm pleased with the show, but not acknowledging him and the near-flirts with Halbrand was one of those things that had me teetering on the edge. Waiting until the penultimate episode of season 1 for that throwaway line about Celeborn seems like the writers just trolling us bookfags, which I sort of respect. Elrond and Durin continue to be the best part of this show. Especially Durin. The Balrog is the most fan-serviced thing they've done. Not only that they're introducing it thousands of years early, but also the design. It's a testament to the Peter Jackson films that one of the biggest (not really, but still) criticisms you can levy against it is that he messed up the design of the Balrog. And this show just piggy-backed off of it. At this point, I'm just hoping that meteor man isn't Gandalf. Coming to Middle-earth this early and hanging out with halflings is too on the nose. There have been enough subtle references to the deeper parts of the lore to convince me that the writers have a deep respect for Tolkien's work so they won't swerve too far out of the lines, but they also had that weird Galadriel sword fight scene in Numenor that's been in every show ever, so I'm also not sure how mature they are as showrunners.
  5. There’s nothing more validating about this post than getting negged by a perennial cocksucker like @Michael Knight and a true Lake Travis homer like @StassneyHorn
  6. It fits uncomfortably into the lore. We know what happened to the three silmarils, and none of them ended up in a tree in the Misty Mountains. And there's no reason for the elves to be "fading" either.
  7. I think she’s the second oldest person in middle earth. And the oldest isn’t in the show (so far).
  8. I'm not shitting on you, but from a bookfag perspective this comment is funny because she's at least 5,000 years old in this show.
  9. holy shit the stolen valor line

  11. Vader didn't know that he had a kid that survived until after Luke blew up the Death Star /nerd
  12. We honestly could've done it for $750 cheaper. We paid about $300 extra per person to upgrade our lodge from the package we bought then we each doubled the recommended tip for the bird boys.
  13. we used David Denies and stayed at the la Dormice Lodge.
  14. I've been meaning to post about this for a few weeks but haven't sat down to do it, but here it goes. At the beginning of May, me and three friends went dove hunting in Argentina. We got the trip in August of 2020 almost through happenstance. I live in a Gulf Coast County in Southeast Texas, and my county's Ducks Unlimited chapter held their annual banquet and live auction online because of COVID. It also happened to be the weekend that Hurricane Laura was supposed to hit us so nobody was paying attention to the auction and we bought the trip for the minimum bid. Ultimately, we think it might have saved us $750 at most, but it was definitely the impetus for us to go. Two of us had some trouble getting down there (United delayed our overnight flight from Houston to Buenos Aires by 12 hours, making it a day flight and turning our 4-hour layover from BA to Cordoba into a 12-hour layover where we had to spend a night in BA and causing us to miss almost a full day of sightseeing in Cordoba), but once our outfitter picked us up at the Cordoba airport, the experience was fantastic. Our lodge was about an hour and a half from the airport, but they took us straight to the field to start hunting. We all shot 20 gauge Benelli Montefeltros--two of ours being brand new--that we rented from the lodge. The bird boys (men) were all fantastic and reloaded our shotguns for us (I'm still not sure how I feel about that). They built nice blinds each day and had plenty of beer for us while we hunted. Each day we had a 7:00 wakeup call followed by breakfast and a ~30 minute drive to the field. We would usually hunt for about 3-3.5 hours then break for lunch. The would cook lunch for us in the field then serve it to us at a table under a tent with beer and wine. After, they had hammocks and cots set up for us to nap for about an hour before the afternoon hunt. After we hunted, they would take us back to the lodge, which was an experience itself. They had a fully stocked bar, a full menu for us to order from, a hot tub. They also had a masseuse available and dry cleaning. We almost wished we had an afternoon off so that we could relax there. On the hunting, we had all heard stories about people shooting 1,000 birds a day, but frankly we didn't see those flights. Each of us budgeted to shoot 1,000 shells a day, but we all ended up shooting half that. Having said that, we all agreed that was a nice, steady pace and weren't upset by it at all. Anymore would've been work. The bird boys picked up as many dove as the could after we hunted, which they cleaned and donated to local schools. In all, each of us spent about $5,500 on the trip including airfare, with the costs spread out over almost two years. I would recommend doing it once and can see myself doing it again several years from now. I would use the same outfitter but stay at a different lodge, only to get a little different of an experience.
  15. I just saw this on reddit. Check out how R2 is framed.
  16. Two years ago the rumor was he hated recruiting and thought the NFL was a higher form of football.
  17. This is from opening morning. 2 Mallard hens, 2 green wing teal, 1 pintail hen, 1 hooded merganser (not pictured), and 4 spoonbills.
  18. omg they're kicking a fg I love it
  19. A better question might be "how many of our players would start for Baylor?" I'm sure they would take a few of our players (more than UGA or Ohio State), but it wouldn't be the amount that the recruiting rankings would indicate. I always remember watching LSU under Les Miles and it seemed like their talent won a lot of games in spite of their coaching. You can't say that about Texas much over the last 10 years. [Edit: that's not to say coaching hasn't been a major problem either] With all that being said, I think a lot of the talent that we've acquired doesn't always fit what our coaches are trying to do schematically. That's also a coaching problem--you can't force a square peg in a round hole. Strong, Herman, and Sark have been guilty of that. On top of that, we don't develop talent once it gets on campus. Sometimes I think we should commit to the College Football equivalent of a rebuild the Astros did under Luhnow.
  20. Reading Wells still trying to spin Card as a plus is high comedy:
