  1. Surly thoughts on bread and butter pickles? A couple of B&B chips or even sweet gherkins makes a fine little dessert after a chips and beer meal. Where do you find Grillo’s? Never seen ‘em.
  2. But I’m Irish all the way back to County Clare and I prefer chips! Also, jalapeño chips are better—but easy to overdo.
  3. Aren’t they supposed to be lifted 4x4 F250’s, just what every recruit wants to wheel around the maddening streets of Austin?
  4. Beans, cheese, pork, jalapeños? This guy gets it!
  5. Fantastic! I’ll stop saying “fuck” in public and just use “aggy” instead. My wife and kids will be so pleased. I’ll report back on how this goes............
  6. I live in a small Central Texas town infested with aggie. I think that statement is wrong. Hell, they’re looking for great deals on apartment rentals in Collie Station, cause, you know-fake virus and 2 night hotel minimums for games.................
  7. Really? Doesn’t the buck pretty much stop on the university president’s desk? Whom would you suggests gets to decide? AD? Head coach? Legal affairs staff? Get your popcorn futures now guys, this season could turn into a truly epic shitshow. I just hope it’s all televised.
  8. Thanks for the info, and thanks for your dedication to helping educate a way underserved population. OTOH, I’m a little taken aback by the thought of someone tearing into a rotisserie chicken in the window seat! Flights are approaching Guatemalan bus rides in demeanor and behavior anyway, so I’m gonna remember your approach...........every time I’m in the Miami airport, I kinda expect people to come on board with crates of live chickens. Nobody on board knows me, anyway.
  9. That’s outstanding! Were you flying to Paris? Amsterdam? Frankfurt? That much food would hold me to Moscow, at least. Did you bring your own spoon for the pie or will airlines still loan/give you one? Did you get booze on the plane? Have they changed the rules to let you bring your own onboard (liquor, that is-). I’m thinking of vacation. Plans...............
  10. The “patty melt” is essentially rendering me speechless; you’ve changed my. Plans for the whole day.........
  11. Horrible color choice on my monitors—goodgodamighty, is the color mixer an ou sucks grad? Someone needs to rethink that orange....
  12. Our ability to treat symptoms has vastly improved in a few months, i doubt that trend will continue—not really how treatment of viral infections works. So, no, probably not reasonable. Wishing it were so- Also, don’t get your hopes all up for “herd immunity,” either, nothing much indicates that will ever be a real thing. I’d love to see some football this fall, but I’m planning solo fishing trips instead.....
  13. Blow the photo up—it’s mammoth ivory; completely legal. Some elephant ivory is legal, too, but I think it has to be quite old and/or salvaged.
  14. Have done New Year’s Eve in both Paris and London in the last 15 years. I thought the fireworks were better in Paris. Our kids were 12 and 19, and I almost had an anxiety attack trying to keep track of them—the crush of the crowds is mind-bottling, but I’m now a small town guy.............
  15. 927 is quite right; the majority have no idea of the fluidity of good/bad knowledge advance and treatment/mitigation decisions in a situation such as this; I wish it were magic: it’s not. Incidentally, the people determining open/not open don’t give a shit about people dying, it’s all about their cronies and supporters and re-election. Don’t kid yourselves.
  16. 29 pages, and maybe I’m woke! Dump “Eyes” and just send Johnny Bush a check—“Whiskey River” is doubtlessly perfect for our last 10 years with only few little tweaks. Or will we have to send him/his publishing company a check after every game? Rename the buildings, remove the statues—it’s a university striving to be of the first class, not a minor league football team.............maybe we should focus on the real mission............
  17. Rubbing alcohol ain’t 100%. Evaporation is great, unless it’s ignited. 47 years in a pharmacy lab, and it’s a damned hot flame that takes a while to go away. Walgreen’s has 91%? We sure can’t get it-Covid and all that. Where to keep the Everclear? I assume a shelf or cabinet where it is unlikely to get dropped. I”ll continue to use the newspaper lighting method, works OK for me. No skin off my neck...............
  18. Not sure if this is sarcastic-I wouldn’t keep a tightly closed breakable jar of cotton balls soaked in alcohol in my house or lab, but then, i don’t keep any gasoline in the garage, either. Also, the highest concentration of alcohol is our old friend Everclear at 95%. Absolute (100%, anhydrous alcohol) is available only to labs and pharmacies.
  19. Uh, popping positive-even twice-on a 50% reliable antibody test still doesn’t reliably mean you have antibodies; and if you do, that doesn’t mean you’re immune to another infection. Personally, I’d love to be immune via (probably only partially reliable) vaccine or a mild case and antibodies, but until i know a whole lot more, I’m not headed into the stadium with 100,000 of my closest friends.......
  20. I haven’t done this, but I’ve sure looked at such a journey for just the wife and I (no pics). First of all, RPM is exactly right-you’re gonna need a bigger truck. Substantially bigger-those places aren’t all in the flatlands. Second, Grasshopper, if you think trailer hookups equate to cell service and/or WiFi, you need to get out and explore some-I can show you several nice “campgrounds” with all hookups within 150 miles of Austin with zilch cell service. Nada. Just wait until New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, etc. I like your philosophy and your list, but plan this very carefully.
  21. Only an average of 13 or so cases of trichinosis reported in the US each year—almost all from eating wild/feral hogs or bear. Commercial pork? Zero to 1 (perhaps) every year. I can’t stand burnt bacon. Internal temp of 145 means death to the parasite.
  22. I live 50 miles from Llano, and keep giving Cooper’s another chance, but somehow they continue to disappoint me; pork chops are good, if you’re planning on taking a bunch of food home, and the beans are good. YMMV. Please post a review........
