I’ve chimed in on this before, but I graduated OSU in 2002 with 14k in debt. Parents paid my first year, used loans + part time (full time summer) job doing tech support for a wonderful $8 an hour to support myself. The rate was something ridiculous like 2.5%. Paid it off in about five years by avoiding big cc debt and living with roommates for three of those years before buying a house in pville for $125k. Moved to Austin in 02 to work tech support here for an excellent $13/hour. Slowly worked my way up the food chain, but have tempered my career ambitions due to kids and having a wonderful boss that allows incredible work/life balance, which is worth a lot to me. Unlike a lot of boomers, I recognize I had it good. Smaller loan at a low rate, bought a nice starter home at an affordable price on a FIXED (phew) mortgage in 2005, owned a sweet 97 Prelude and motorcycle, garage had a beer fridge and full size Area 51 arcade cabinet. Life was sweet. I can’t imagine getting the same degree for $70k, that same house is now approx $400k despite being 17 years older, and I’m sure that same phone gig hasn’t gone up anywhere near 3-5x in salary…I’m barely touching that after 20 years as a senior PM. Give those folks some money and stop bitching about corner cases. The world is very different now. Much better use of government funds than that bullshit ‘middle class tax break’ that I supposedly benefited from. /rant

A story about a pathetic man's downfall [34 Felony Convictions]

Holy fuck they all look the same. Fat young wannabe Meal Team Six Gun nuts, fat middle aged Karens, angry Minions boomer or bald middle age Oakley’s guy. I drive by the house of a Bald Middle Age Oakleys guy regularly. Always flying the flag, Abbot signs out front since May, garage full of suspicious buckets. -
The entire baseball act is unbelievable but maybe my favorite moment in a scene, for the whole series is the three called strikes. The dead silence of the crowd as it dawns on him what he’s supposed to be doing, before he basically asks the catcher ‘……….strike?’ < mimics hand signal accidentally > Overly flamboyant strike two call, waving to the crowd and a huge grin on his face And of course, my favorite of all: calling strike 3 before the ball is anywhere near the plate

Have you called an exhaust shop? They have generic ones they can weld in there too

Drunkest I ever got during that whole decade, besides my bachelor party, was the night we lost to ISU. I knew it was over, and later watching the ‘game of the century’ I got a serious case of what-coulda-been…like a lot of folks. Who knows what we’d have done against a defense full of NFL players but it sure woulda been nice to try. Oh well.

He’s also done something like 20 Cameos, including talking smack at a FF Draft. Considering it for my buddy’s birthday. Dude has his occasional issues but it’s gonna be a sad day for me when he retires…perfect fit for Stillwater.

Get a test pipe with a bung for an O2 sensor and get one of those mini-cat sensor extensions, be done with it forever.

Both cats on my CTS-V died within a year and could only find one OEM…ended up selling the car as I got tired of trying to fix it. My wife’s Explorer is starting to throw those codes now too. I’m to the point that I may start mining for palladium and platinum. I currently hate the fucking things. I’d bet most of those folks are in a shitty situation trying to make a buck, which doesn’t excuse their actions at all but I think the better solution is to come down hard on those buying them…not killing another person. As noted I’d intend to scare the shit out of them and bet they aren’t coming back, I wouldn’t live in fear they’re going to break into my house to fuck with my family. But you do you man. You’re not alone. My NextDoor feed is full of people itching to shoot those folks. I’m just saying it’s not me…the legal hassle, the potential guilt, the permanent change I know would grip me after killing another person, isn’t remotely worth it. Directly threatening me or my family is the only conceivable circumstance I could see shooting someone.
-
Uhh yeah I’m not killing another human being over stealing something…especially the cat off my car. Scare him away, hold him for the cops, shoot out his tires if he’s close, whatever. Dude may be a piece of shit thief, but he’s still a person with a family and may be in desperate circumstances…or not…I’m still not killing someone over it. Now I catch you in my house with my family home and you don’t immediately run? Different story. Y’all live out your castle doctrine fantasies.

From what I understand ‘the nuclear codes’ (gold codes) change regularly and wouldn’t be worth much of anything. All they are is a way to positively identify the President when he phoned in a launch order to the national command, who then transmits both the code to unlock the weapons/safes plus another code they match in the locked up book to verify its an authorized order. Besides you’re not gonna just call someone on an unsecure line to kickoff WWIII because you had a code book. Much, much more damaging would be details about the design, materials or performance figures of a warhead or delivery system…say how to make FOGBANK, details on the strong/weak link setup in the PAL, or exact dimensions of the warhead in the B-61–12 bomb. With that information you could either design your own or detonate a stolen warhead. Saudi’s would love that I’m sure. But that stuff is ‘born secret’ and I can’t imagine it’s ever just floating around the White House. Ultimately I wish NYT or whoever hadn’t gone straight to nuclear secrets/codes. It’s a nuanced subject, and we all know these lunatics don’t care for details…and if it turns out to not be nuke stuff but ultimately just as damaging (say details on the B21 or formula for F35 paint or a dossier on intelligence sources), we know they’ll just say it was overblown. -

Look y’all…I’m a Poke, forged in the pessimistic burning dumpster that was the football program from 98-02. I’ve had my heart ripped out multiple times and knew with absolute certainty that yet another shaky, flickering ray of hope was going to be snuffed out last year when Caleb Williams came to town. It ended up being a last-second, incredible victory over the house that bag-o-dicks built. Let’s not assume it’s over just yet. -

This…I’d like to hope that the occasional, dedicated crazies getting appropriate consequences, televised nationally, is enough to gut-check most of the rest. It’s gotta be harder to convince a critical mass of people to take up arms against the country when they regularly see folks dying in corn fields, killing themselves or being locked up. It’s all fun and games on 4Chan/Truth Social/etc until Billy badass actually gets killed for trying to attack an FBI office. -
This popped up on my google news feed and seems telling. Bam states he’s much better off without Jackass in his life, Steve-O recounts how he was likely about to get back onboard until Bam skipped the zoom call with key players and everyone else saw him wasted the night before via TMZ (which Bam claims was just sipping beer): https://movieweb.com/bam-margera-steve-o-jackass-interview/ Sounds to me like he refuses to acknowledge the problem and just wants to keep drinking

You’re not a gnat, are ya bug?

Wouldn’t surprise me…his wife, or eventual ex wife I dunno, has long been onboard that all-consuming in-your-face style of agency. Edit: Yeah his FB page is that way too with a long, rambling (shocker) video about it along with a teaser to maybe be on tv?

It was on the front page of Reddit. Sorting by controversial to see what mouth breathers gave to say were all pointing out how the AR is nothing like original M-16, the ammo is only middle of the size range for a rifle, it’s not the weapon it’s the user…all the usual flatty talking points. -

I know there’s a photo album thread somewhere, but beyond the disgusting actions it took for Trump to be able to take this photo that day…him holding the Bible in a staged, awkward way with a scowl on his face really seems to sum up his exploitative personality in general. Now contrast that with this Souza photo, taken off the cuff in the Oval Office. When I think of who I want leading my country, I value character and accessibility…not tear gassing protestors to pave the way to a church. -
Guess he gave up waiting for rain too
