Parking for Saturday's game
My 17 year old and friends are going to the game on Saturday. They are driving themselves from outside of Austin. What would be the best place for them to park? I know what I would do but that is different than a group of hs seniors who need a large margin of error.

Ideally the Dems will put up a moderate woman from the private sector with proven executive leadership success. Any ideas?

AISD's (and other districts) Plans for Schools Starting August 18
Midland's numbers. They started in early August. No mask requirement just encouraged. https://www.mrt.com/coronavirus/article/MISD-COVID-cases-top-1-000-16411734.php?fbclid=IwAR031PUqcToCPgpkuxxevtYbaVuiVOpIzdX6eMPYmG6Xf0MfwQ0iFpbu0K0

AISD's (and other districts) Plans for Schools Starting August 18
So what I am hearing is that transmission is lower in the districts with mask requirement right now? AISD seems like it's doing ok.

I am so upset with our district right now as well. GISD won't even recommend masks. Their language is that either is fine. They started today.

AISD's (and other districts) Plans for Schools Starting August 18
As far as I can tell, districts are not prepping for remote learning contingencies because the state isn't funding it. It is possible this hits/hurts the students and families in the more rural districts the most (fast forwarding to Sept/Oct) because they already have a lack of hospitals, and their counties are more MAGA/maskless.

Thank you! Interesting how off some of the estimates were. I wonder how much this will affect city planning and budgets.

I see the map in the link but it only has state, county and tract data. How can I find the data about cities and municipalities? Anyone have that? Or am I missing it somewhere in this link? https://mtgis-portal.geo.census.gov/arcgis/apps/MapSeries/index.html?appid=2566121a73de463995ed2b2fd7ff6eb7

Abbott's no mask requirement mandate may not be good public health policy but it does cut down on the political pressure on districts either way.

COVID-19 vaccine discussion
It was a no brainer to get my teenagers vaccinated and I will do the same for my youngest when he is 12 soon - anything to help prevent more loss of time in school and sports, not to mention reduction in transmission.

Chody and Wilco back in National news again
This guy reminds me of someone else. https://communityimpact.com/austin/northwest-austin/election/2021/07/13/robert-chody-files-campaign-finance-report-showing-intent-to-seek-2024-williamson-county-sheriff-office/ In the midst of a criminal trial and following his election loss last year, former Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody has filed preliminary documents for a potential run at the position again in 2024.
