  1. This issue with forcing daily on campus is the safety/spacing concerns for students and staff as referenced in the Eanes letter above.
  2. Good for Eanes. If they are concerned you can imagine how districts with fewer resources feel.
  3. TEA has told districts they won't fund students who choose remote learning who have transferred in from private or homeschooling. This isn't a district rule. TEA has told districts they MUST accommodate students who want to come 5 days a week, effectively making schools create 3 separate tracks if they want to do a hybrid, which is very tough from a staffing/workload perspective and safe spacing. They are pretty mum on closure protocols for infections in a school. Not sure if they waiting for CDC/Health Department. The state has procured and allocated PPE to all districts. You can find that here: https://tea.texas.gov/sites/default/files/covid/covid19 20-21 PPE LEA Allotment_updated 6-18-20.xlsx It's not just teachers who will be quitting if forced to go back with rates like this and the uncertainty, but also support staff, admin, food service, etc, with institutional knowledge. There won't be subs so if your in-person teacher goes down, the class doesn't get taught. School becomes a babysitter. Morath talks to supers in an hour. We will see what is said after Tuesday's shitshow announcements.
  4. Now that The Eyes issue is out on the table it's going to become a "taking a knee" issue if they continue to play it after games. Many fans/players will refuse to sing it and those that do will look like assholes, especially white people. UNLESS, a result of conversations between CDC and the players results in them coming away ok with it and those players lead on it. But that is not likely. I do like the idea of singing Don't Stop Believing instead. And/or just Texas Fight, which is actually our "song'.
  5. OMG you are right. I was thinking it was May because the signs have been everywhere like the local elections but that was because of the primaries.
  6. Chody, the Wilco CC, and Judge Gravell have been crazy dysfunctional and it's escalated this year, esp re Live PD. This is like a thousand pound cherry on top of the dysfunction sundae. Just one recent story from a month ago: https://communityimpact.com/austin/georgetown/coronavirus/2020/05/05/williamson-county-commissioners-hire-law-firm-to-address-live-pd-controversy-move-could-mean-future-legal-action/ I actually think Gleason, his opponent, has a decent chance. However, since they moved the local elections from May to Nov due to Covid, who knows.
  7. So what is going to happen next?

    Me too! Congrats!
  9. On a personal level, yes. I love all the time with my kids. They are 16, 13 and 10. Very self-sufficient and fun and generally awesome. I much prefer working from home too and hope I can do this more. On normal weekdays I spend about 2-3 hours in the car between school, work, and sports. While I miss the sports I do not miss the driving. And we are all eating healthier because I have time to actually cook nightly. On an existential level, no. There is a lot of of hurt and suffering out there right now and it's probably only going to get worse.
  10. Like lots of people right now we are making a little home gym in our garage. This is far from my area of expertise and it is being driven by my teenager who is very upset to lose his gym time, plus I have 2 younger boys so I am sure it's going to be used for a long time. (You know, just like that trampoline they insisted on last year.) We have equipment coming next week but I obviously want to get some protective flooring. I need to get rubber, not foam, right? Any recommendations? I am flying blind here.
  11. Thank you. My family all lives in Colorado. It's def hitting there harder than many places for some reason, or maybe it's the fact they seem to be testing a little more relative to other places. Glad you guys are ok.
  12. @honolulu horn are you in Hawaii, really? How do you think you got it? I am glad you guys are all ok now.
  13. Those with teenagers - Are your kids paying close attention? I am surprised by how much my teenager (almost 16) is following this and asking questions. He has been since last week. I realized this is that generation's first real experience with a national security threat/crisis. He and his friends are half-kidding and half-concerned about WW3 and the draft.
  14. Can someone who has been paying attention please post a summary of what's going on and why?
