  1. Oh fuck that. I've not had the best experiences there, and this gal I was banging on the side, maybe 20-25 years ago, she got the worst diarrhea ever in her life from an Allsups burrito (she ate 2 or 3 burritos, and I think some potatoes, but it sounded like all it took was one burrito). Just seeing that photo you posted makes me cringe. Think it was the Stratford Allups, but tried to block out the story, so thanks for reminding me.
  2. Related to the above article about production pauses Tesla stock falls after report EV maker is pausing production in Texas Tesla Plans to Pause Cybertruck, Model Y Production July 4 Week - Business Insider
  3. from that article: Now, Musk is on record saying that Tesla will only launch the service in a limited area in Austin and even avoid certain intersections that Tesla is not sure it can handle: We will geo‑fence it. It’s not going to take intersections unless we are highly confident it’s going to do well with that intersection. Or it will just take a route around that intersection. In addition to geofencing, Tesla is also utilizing teleoperation to control vehicles with human operators remotely. We reported last year when Tesla started building a “teleoperation team.” Despite Tesla originally planning to launch the robotaxi service on June 12, and now “tentatively” on June 22, the automaker posted a new job listing days ago for engineers to help build a low-latency teleoperation system to operate its “self-driving” cars and robots ======= Musk claims that Tesla is being “super paranoid” about safety, but you have to take his word for it. We have pointed it out before, but it’s worth repeating: Waymo tested its self-driving vehicles in Austin for six months with safety drivers and then for another six months without safety drivers before launching its autonomous ride-hailing service in the city. As for Tesla, it tested its vehicles with safety drivers throughout Austin for a few months. Then, Musk announced in late May, only weeks before the planned launch, that it had started testing without safety drivers. Despite many people being on the lookout for these driverless Tesla Robotaxis, they were only spotted for the first time last week. Since then, only two confirmed Tesla vehicles without drivers have been spotted testing. Furthermore, several of those vehicles were spotted with Tesla employees in the front passenger seat. While Musk claims that there are “no safety driver”, these “passengers” pay attention at all times and have access to a kill switch to stop the vehicle. They virtually operate like “safety drivers”, but they are on the passenger seat rather than the driver’s seat. Tesla is currently still in the “testing” phase based on the listing with the state regulators, which also mentions “no” safety drivers ---------
  4. Walter Isaacson thinks Tesla and X/xAI/twitter/whatever will merge at some point. Elon Musk biographer says major Tesla merger could be imminent: 'I think it's going to happen'
  5. I'd keep that on the down-low.
  6. So, a war that's been going on for 5-6 days is more urgent than a war that has dragged on for three years. And he wants to get a leader involved with peace negotiations, who is every day, and has been for the past 3+ years, directly ordering the murder of Ukrainian civilians.
  7. R. Kelly rushed from prison to the hospital after "overdose" that his people say was an attempt on his life.
  8. Pink Floyd 'Run Like Hell' is a decent option.
  9. Fucking Antigua Barbuda is going to get us in a shooting match. It's like the South Dakota School For Mining and Deaf Teachers getting sanctioned by the NCAA over one ineligible player because Alabama is faking grades for all of their football players.
  10. Iran knows Israel has the means to nuke them several times over, and that they would not get a chunk of Israel's nukes even in a first-strike. They also know that the US and others would get involved (the fallout might even trigger Article 5). They also know the Arab/non-Shiite world would get involved against them - fallout doesn't give a fuck about borders, but also none of them want nukes popping off in the Middle East regardless of fallout patterns. It's just all around a good way to ensure that the Iranian leadership will cease to exist, along with a chunk of Iran, and for all of their bullshit, I don't think they are that crazy - they like staying in power and being alive. Look at the fact that they aren't shutting down the Persian Gulf/Strait of Hormuz, even though multiple Sunni nations are allowing Israeli overflights. They also aren't attacking those nations for passively supporting Israel. Plus, their last friendly nation with decent power is Russia and Russia ain't doing shit to help them. I'm more worried about Pakistan losing a nuke or two, or some organization ginning up a dirty bomb and putting it on a cargo ship into a Western port than I am Iran trying to wipe Israel off the map.
  11. So you're saying they are on a treadmill?
  12. Was the Mexican dead or alive when you took it from him?
  13. I've been saying for decades that I'm going to get with Sela Ward, regardless of how many annoying restraining orders get in the way, but it isn't happening. Yet. Netanyahu barely survived a no-confidence vote last week only because he caved to the Orthodox part of his coalition and said he wouldn't draft their sons, so I'm a wee bit suspicious as to the timing of this war.
  14. One thing I've never bought in all of this, is the idea that Iran, as soon as they got nukes, was going to nuke Israel. Because if they did, it then becomes an existential threat to Iran and the Shia religion, and the Iranian leadership, and they know this, and they know if they popped a nuke in Israel that they would probably get the Arab world involved against Iran as well. Fallout doesn't care about borders. At the least, Tehran ceases to completely exist, and the Sunni nations would be pleased to see the Shiites go down hard. But, if I were Iran, I can totally see wanting a nuclear deterrent going forward.
  15. June 22nd, Tesla Robotaxi in Austin, mark it on your calendars!
  16. Hope their field reporter was covered in bug spray.
  17. I didn't get married until my late 20s. High school was rough, college better, and then things kept improving, similar to your arc. One thing that is weird to me, and this could obviously be anecdotal/recency bias, but it seems like a lot of younger guys have problems making friends with girls. Just normal friends - co-workers, classmates, etc. For all of the joking in this thread about seeing women (or men) as hook-up objects, some younger people seem to have a problem with chit-chatting the opposite gender in a completely platonic way. I had this conversation/lecture/TED Talk with a early-20s cousin a few years ago at a family reunion. He had not brought his girlfriend to the reunion because she had suddenly become his ex-girlfriend and he was kind of complaining about it. I basically said, "don't you have a number of female friends you could call up and get somebody to go out/run around with you for this kind of stuff?" and he looked at me like I was speaking in tongues. Like it didn't occur to him to have a number of platonic female friends. To go back to your point about it being easier to hook up with other people now than at any point in history, back in the 90s, I found making friends with a lot of women a great way to well, meet more women. My places of work were usually sausage fests and/or the women were married, so I'd make friends with the married women, make friends with female neighbors at apartment complexes, etc., and just by acting like a normal, decent person, you will stumble across a female friend who loves to play matchmaker. At the very least, you'd get invited to parties, dinners, etc. where you'd meet more women. Here in 2025, it's even better - just be a decent person, make a bunch of female friends, be Facebook friends with them, don't post batshit conspiracy theories or misogynistic bullshit on your FB profile and feed, post nice comments/responses, etc. and you are exposed to a whole shitload of women of all ages and needs/wants. Youth really is wasted on the young. If I somehow ever end up divorced, I will be using the hell out of these tools to easily find my next ex-wife.
  18. Pretty sure they could figure out all of the exit/entry points on that thing and completely seal those in for starters if they didn't want people on the ground.
  19. This I've heard about from various places, but not sure on the validity. Would make perfect sense given the proximity. They absolutely do. Al-Assad going down was the last gasp at Iran having any serious allies. Yemen is a proxy, but even they have limits on what they can do.
  20. Look for them being stuck in the dishwasher, clothes dryer, under a sink cabinet, etc. Allegedly.
