  1. I think we’ve all started a video or two off with “I’m an idiot. This is, I think, my last video.”
  2. Oh it was creepy, especially given that her dad became his mentor. But I think it was less about her and more about her dad.
  3. Driving through Dallas over the holidays, saw a few lots full of Teslas in the middle of Dallas, including a bunch of the Incel Caminos.
  4. A soulful meeting of minds did occur, it’s just that it was between Lorne and her dad.
  5. While going through the drive through at P Terrys, saw one pull in and the guy got out. Probably a tech bro but based on skin tone, definitely does not fit in Leon’s dream of idealistic European cultures. Speaking of cultures that Musk prattles on about, I’d love to hear his description of South African culture. Also, wonder if he realizes how fluid the peoples or Europe were before nation-states started forming.
  6. She’s Jewish. They may not have banged until well after the marriage. I only dated two Jewish girls though so my sample size is small.
  7. That was interesting, I didn’t realize who her dad was or that she was related to the Superman creator: Shuster was married to Saturday Night Live's creator, Lorne Michaels, from 1967 to 1980. The pair first met in junior high school, when Michaels, born Lorne Lipowitz, followed her home hoping to meet her famous father.Together Shuster and Michaels wrote and performed comedy sketches through high school, summer camp, and college. They began their TV career on The Hart and Lorne Terrific Hour show for Canadian TV on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). Appearing on the show were Dan Aykroyd and Gilda Radner, among others. Shuster and Michaels moved to Los Angeles to work on The Lily Tomlin Show for ABC, where they also met Laraine Newman, whom they invited, along with Aykroyd and Radner, to join the Not Ready for Prime Time Players for Saturday Night Live. —— I need to check YouTube for a shitload of Akroyd and Radner stuff on Canadian shows.
  8. This a guy who would absolutely move to Texas and then claim that Texas has an Anglo heritage that needs to be maintained.
  9. “I think we have to maintain the reasonable cultural identity of the various countries.” You can interpret that however you want, but take into account about how he feels about immigrants that aren’t him or work for him.
  10. Seeing bits and pieces on YouTube and a bit of the making of, doesn’t do it justice. Some of the sets and filming were amazing when they would pan through the various stages and departments.
  11. Plus, putting aside the fact that they can't just call up Western suppliers of the various fancier parts they need to keep those refineries running, they have to keep shuffling their precious air defenses around (and if they move them around, they might be spotted by Ukrainian intelligence/satellites). And hell, given how many refineries have been lit up this month, what exactly air defense doing?
  12. This time last year, he was hanging out at Auschwitz. Woman who went to Auschwitz with Elon Musk explains how the billionaire acted during the visit
  13. I think he's "self-diagnosed" which, yeah. The thing is though, he's not even looking for an excuse for the salute. He's not out there on social media talking about how his self-diagnosed autism sometimes causes him to throw up a Nazi salute by accident. If he was truly caught up in the moment and just did some stupid fucking gesture that happened to look like a Nazi salute, he's not apologizing for it being mistaken for one and is in fact making fun of people who are shocked by it. A non-Nazi-supporting person would have immediately expressed remorse and done something on social media other than trot out Nazi jokes. And top it off with him literally supporting the neo-Nazi favored group in Germany.
  14. Well, instead of Xanax, Hitler's party recommend taking some Zyklon B and go to sleep, but close enough.
  15. A few hundred people are sweating buckets in Austin right now over the loss of their weed and psychedelics dealers https://www.kxan.com/news/crime/1-million-worth-of-narcotics-seized-from-north-austin-apartment-complex/
  16. Your sister? Post pics and we can help you. Anybody willing to drop a hundred grand on a shitty mid-life crisis decision is probably in the wheelhouse of a lot of Surly posters.
  17. You mean the elves?
  18. Yep. It does perform better than Twitter on the embed side.
  19. Somebody got him some help. Right down a stairwell. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/elon-musks-dad-debunks-bullying-205829573.html
  20. Shitter link for the video of Mack I’m on iPhone or I would download the video and upload it. https://x.com/Cory_Mose/status/1883242666575720783
  21. He’s nearly as loony as Howard Hughes, but Hughes wouldn’t have designed something like the Cybertruck. Of course Hughes did f have social media. He would have been amazing on it.
  22. Over the years I’ve seen a lot of people claim that Texas seceding was not about slavery, and I just point them to this and ask them what the Texas leaders actually meant when they said “She was received as a commonwealth holding, maintaining and protecting the institution known as negro slavery--the servitude of the African to the white race within her limits--a relation that had existed from the first settlement of her wilderness by the white race, and which her people intended should exist in all future time.” Because apparently that little statement meant something differently in 1861 than it does today. https://www.tsl.texas.gov/ref/abouttx/secession/2feb1861.html DECLARATION OF CAUSES: February 2, 1861, A declaration of the causes which impel the State of Texas to secede from the Federal Union. The government of the United States, by certain joint resolutions, bearing date the 1st day of March, in the year A.D. 1845, proposed to the Republic of Texas, then a free, sovereign and independent nation, the annexation of the latter to the former as one of the co-equal States thereof, The people of Texas, by deputies in convention assembled, on the fourth day of July of the same year, assented to and accepted said proposals and formed a constitution for the proposed State, upon which on the 29th day of December in the same year, said State was formally admitted into the Confederated Union. Texas abandoned her separate national existence and consented to become one of the Confederated States to promote her welfare, insure domestic tranquility [sic] and secure more substantially the blessings of peace and liberty to her people. She was received into the confederacy with her own constitution, under the guarantee of the federal constitution and the compact of annexation, that she should enjoy these blessings. She was received as a commonwealth holding, maintaining and protecting the institution known as negro slavery--the servitude of the African to the white race within her limits--a relation that had existed from the first settlement of her wilderness by the white race, and which her people intended should exist in all future time. Her institutions and geographical position established the strongest ties between her and other slave-holding States of the confederacy. Those ties have been strengthened by association. But what has been the course of the government of the United States, and of the people and authorities of the non-slave-holding States, since our connection with them?
  23. Yeah. Even if Grimes hadn’t hooked up with Manning, it was all over the twitters and they weren’t denying it. Then Leon’s kid rejecting him publicly. For a control freak like Musk, it was a gut punch.
