  1. @next2nausThere’s been a good bit of talk about these on the BGE thread. You may want to peruse that as well.
  2. I’m about to reprint a bunch of these as a gift for my parents to sell when they close the restaurant next month, and one request my dad had was that he needs to swap out that spinach soup recipe for his leak and spinach soup, which is somewhat the signature soup for their restaurant and a crowd favorite. Don’t knock it til you try it!
  3. Page 18, homie. Also, that recipe makes a bunch but if you’re looking for thanksgiving stuff, we’d pretty much always have it as a first course for our thanksgiving meal so it definitely fits the bill for what you’re looking for.
  4. Stillwater Inn in Jefferson. They’re retiring in a month so I’ve been breaking out the cookbook for a little nostalgia lately.
  5. Made butternut squash bisque tonight. It’s a nostalgia thing for me for sure… growing up in our restaurant this time of year it was a safe bet this would be in my dads short rotation for soup du jour. Bacon garnish was my idea, because why not.
  6. Checking your own car seat at the airport is free, ya know…
  7. We’ve been on 6 flights with our now 13 month old since around July. My wife would try to get flights around his naptime, which I would’ve never thought to do but was actually great as he’d end up sleeping pretty much half the flight. Being able to get some sleep or watch a movie on Netflix while traveling w a baby makes life a lot easier.
  8. @HeHateMe @Upgrayedd has an event at El Chorro last night which was a cool a shell spot. Currently at Little O’s,m. Great recommendation. Hitting the railroad park later this morning. Thanks a bunch.
  9. Smoked pork loin, cranberry sauce, mashed sweet taters. Pregaming for thanksgiving.
  10. Can y’all spoiler these multi image posts? Appreciate the lulz but it’s hard as hell to keep track of where I’m at on the page when it’s just a wall of images.
  11. North Scottsdale Road about a mile north of downtown. I’ll have a car so scooting around a bit isn’t an issue. I’ve never been so I really don’t have much reference for how far is “far”… I imagine by Houston standards everything should feel like it’s pretty close.
  12. Will be there this weekend with a 1 year old in tow… anyone have some baby friendly activities or other things he can tag along with us on? Also a good breakfast rec would be appreciated.
  13. I’ve been noticing it for weeks. Mentioned it on a game thread a while back but no one else seemed to acknowledge it. They do it so often it’s incredible
  14. So I went with chili. My wife likes beans in hers so I acquiesced but only the minimal amount. This morning had an egg, chili, Frito, cheese breakfast taco. Football aside, it was a good weekend for me.
  15. And yet, every time I’ve seen aggy on tv, I see at least one instance of them doing this jump pass business in a game. Multiple times, if we’re being honest. I boggles the mind.
  16. What’s the actual deal with the roof being open? I’ve been to I think one game where it was open, even with great weather outside. At the beginning of the broadcast they mentioned something with COH and taxpayers saying roof needs to be open when temp/humidity is below a certain amount, but Yankees seem to be going in on it being a conspiracy set by the MLB.
  17. Shit that was nasty. edit: Peyton Bowen punt return. You’ll see that on ESPN later. Wow.
  18. This recipe for Puerto Rican pork and beans is really damn good. Made this recently in a pressure cooker and it took about 45 minutes. I prefer white beans over kidney beans and serving over cilantro rice. It’s gonna go in the rotation for sure. Edit: If making it in a pressure cooker just reduce the liquid by a cup or two. https://foodiemcfooderson.wordpress.com/2012/01/16/jaques-pepins-puerto-rican-pork-and-beans/
  19. What changed your mind on the Lawry’s? Also, the great thing about tallow is that I rendered it from one brisket and I’ve been able to store and use it for several since then, although I’ve been doing it when I wrap. So worth the minimal effort it takes to do it once.
  20. It’s this thread’s time to shine. Gumbo or chili on deck this weekend. Haven’t decided decide which one yet
  21. Woof those prices dropped fast on stubhub. Anybody want it for $30?
  22. Basically what @dcbc said. Bake the cornbread for 20 min at 400 and then poke holes however you see fit… just so long as that enchilada sauce can kinda get in and soak into the cornbread. I think I used a fork but crisscross with a knife is a good idea too.
