  1. Shanahan didn’t cause the fumble, the botched punt return, the missed XP, the run of injuries, or the Oline letting Chris Jones absolutely blow them up on a couple of key downs. It didn’t sound like the players were prepared for the OT rules which is on him. However, I would take him as my team’s coach tomorrow over just about anyone else out there. You have to get there to have a shot at losing it.
  2. These debates are fucking stupid, it worked out well for both of them that they came together when they did. Neither would have done what they did the last 5 years without the other, but they both would have likely been successful. They just wouldn’t have been at this level. As far as the OT decisions, this isn’t college or high school or the regular season. It was the right call by Shanahan. Your team had to score a TD either way against Mahomes, it was best to give the D a rest and have the ball on the 3rd series. When they didn’t get the TD, it was over.
  3. Stopped by today, went with Migas and a breakfast #1 for lunch. Both were pretty good. Looks like they have rolled out a number of new menu items since last time I stopped in along with some price increases, but I may stick with the breakfast taco for a while.
  4. To be fair, anything over 29 feet in the Cobalt line is an express cruiser rather than a tow boat and even the ones under that aren’t what I would call tow boats. A 10 foot wide, 33 foot boat with a cabin definitely doesn’t qualify. As far as the pricing, any dumbass paying $400k for a Tige gets what they deserve and probably isn’t doing a whole lot of towing anyways. I bought a brand new SANTE 210 off the lot for $110k 3 years ago and ended up hating being out on it. I spent more time worrying about something happening to it and less time actually enjoying it, so it lasted about a year before I sold it. The electronic everything was nice, but I couldn’t figure out half of it. The best part was the day I got home with it, I pulled up to the ramp and couldn’t find the key. I called the sales guy late afternoon on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend trying to find it and he was like, it’s push button like it was just some common sense thing. Enter 0000 and hit start. I much preferred the prior $20k-$40k models that I didn’t have to worry about and I could work on myself.
  5. If you want to get in the upper tier schools, it matters at this point. Between internships, jobs, camps, etc everything comes into play when evaluating applicants and it becomes more important with the highly selective schools and majors.
  6. Undercover Ultraflex pops off easily, you fold it up to the window and it lifts out of the tracks. I can take it off by myself, getting it in and out of the truck bed is the only challenging part by yourself.
  7. The lady we worked with eliminated some AP courses in favor of others, but she pushed doing at least 6 AP’s. She was also very specific on ones to not take like AP US History because it wasn’t accepted by a number of colleges and in her view it required too much time commitment for the credit. She pushed AP Euro History for those they wanted a history credit. She also advised our daughter to not do any AP math classes because she was weak in math and double up on the English/Lit where she was strong where she would make an A and a 5. It was a very interesting process overall.
  8. Sound advice, a large part of the process with the counselor our daughter worked with was on the financial aspect. She felt it was easier for her to have the conversations than what parents would. Early in the process she wanted preferred budgets, stretch budgets, and then the limits and then she works with the kids to find schools in those ranges that have degree programs they are interested in. NE private schools are pretty outrageous and only give financial based assistance based on the ones we looked at. Most were cutting off in the low to mid $100’s on income limits if I remember correctly. Daughter looked pretty hard at some of the upper tier ones before going a different direction.
  9. On the cardiologist discussion above, I would highly recommend seeing a good one. I go twice a year and do a full work up annually including stress tests, CT’s, etc. He’s been able to keep an eye on some issues and make changes along the way. I have to find a trainer going forward I think. After another elbow surgery and with knee surgeries in my future I can’t find a work out regimen that works for me. I dropped 40 pounds quickly after getting my heart issues resolved, but I’m bouncing around 255 now and can’t get consistent enough workouts in to be meaningful. Was down the month of January after this last elbow procedure that is probably going to cause long term pain/soreness, so I’m not really looking forward to restarting. Going to get back into yoga to try to increase flexibility/elasticity some to start with. Getting old sucks, especially when it kicks in during your esrly/mid 40’s.
  10. The only real difference between vacation/2nd home is whether you are renting it and the distance from your main place. We had a lake house at the same time we had the place at the beach and outside of a very specific rental deal we fell into at the beach did not rent either. The lake house was close and got used more frequently, the beach house was a long ways off and got used for longer periods of time. For us, the beach house was easier to justify and was more of what we were looking for because we would actually get away with the kids for long periods including the entire summers. It got to where we would go to the lake for the day or maybe the weekend, but the kids would opt out or they would bring multiple friends with them. It became more of a hang out spot for the which was fine, but it wasn’t a place for the family to get away together as they got a little older. We rarely are trips to without friends once they were past 10 or so which meant they didn’t really spend any time together doing anything. At the beach they were locked up together for up to 2 months at a time which helped their relationship out long term. We also where there with no one else so there was a lot more family game time, movie time, eating together every meal, etc. than what we had at the lake house that was only an hour from the house. There are always people around to take care of things at the place in a vacation spot. We had a couple that did the landscaping, house cleaning, stopped by 1-2 a week to check everything, did repairs, etc for what was really a pretty reasonable fee. The older people that lived in the neighborhood also kept an eye on things so we never worried about that house. We constantly worried about the lake house because no one was there, the houses around it were all weekend places, etc so I spent a lot more time running back and forth between our place and it checking things out. The easiest thing we have or have had is land. Bushhog parts of it occasionally or have someone do it and just show up. We went the shop route there with a small attached place, so there just isn’t much to worry about with it.
  11. My oldest has been accepted everywhere she applied including some super low acceptance rate schools with scholarship offers at all but the one she is apparently attending. Most of those acceptance notifications have been over other kids that have applied with higher ACT scores. However, she has been all honors/AP (all 4/5’s at this point) and most of them have not. Course selection/rigor is pretty much rated high by every school on the common data set which means you need to take the hardest courses offered. I also think applying to the less popular programs as well as having really great essays/community involvement made the difference for her. Everyone is applying business, premed, engineering, etc. from what we could tell. She applied English with a plan to go to law school and went 35/34 on the ACT in English/Reading and 5’s on those AP’s to support that degree path which had to make a difference.
  12. I’ve had multiple Ultra Cover Under Flex covers and have found zero reason to buy a different one every time I trade. They seal great all the way around including the tail gate, they don’t leak, they are easy to fold, when folded up against the back window there is very little overhang into the bed, they are easy to pop off when you need to remove it, etc. Through I’m it sure how many trucks I’ve had (up until this Bronco) within a few days of purchase I would get that bed cover, LineX, Fox Stage 1 and tires (Coopers on the last 3-4), tint the windows, and that would be it.
  13. Flew into Ann Arbor last summer for a college visit with my oldest. It was a college town in the summer so take this for what it’s worth, but man the college area didn’t leave that great an impression. If I was going and looking for things to do, Detroit would be my pick.
  14. Never said that at all, just that it will be interesting to see what it looks like. Personally, I think you could see some long-term pickups, but they will be mixed in with a massive amount of weekly garbage. Luckily, the football forum is mostly garbage already. However, there are a number of current posters that have come from other fan bases and stuck around that provide excellent content.
  15. I came for haugy, jt09, thujone, and a few others. I stuck around because there is a ton of insight (especially for a message board) in a few of the forums. However, a few things I see that make me stick around a few specific forums and avoid the broader forum. 1. Rep - it’s stupid, the people that chase people around and neg rep them are stupid, the whole concept is stupid. Instant reaction blunts long-term interaction in some cases. 2. The number of olds that post stupid memes in every thread, repost things from Twitter and other places constantly even if the same thing is 5 posts up, etc seem to be increasing. There are times it becomes painful to scroll through a thread because of the dumb shit that is posted. If I’ve seen the Denzel Washington Training Day video, once I have seen it 5000 times. Is there an option somewhere out there to ignore those type posts? 3. The football board is unreadable a lot of the time. Thread after thread, post after post, of the same stupid over reactionary garbage. It will be interesting what the audience/interaction looks like with the move to the SEC.
  16. They ran the 3rd down play at around 30 seconds because they were not using the full 40.
  17. What am I missing? Call the timeout with 20 something seconds left after the 3rd down kneel and make them try to kick the FG or do something especially since they weren’t using the full 40. Was the TV off showing a timeout left?
  18. Out of curiosity, if he signs a noncompete as part of a severance why would it not hold up? He’s taking the cash and signing the agreement which at least in surrounding states to me would be enfoclrceable. I get the issues on the front end signing at employment, but this seems like a different deal.
  19. Isn’t having/keeping some version of those along with knowing how to use them the most important part of being a college coach? Both of those functions he has seemed to be able to do well.
  20. Did you pay attention to their list of opt outs for this game? It was not anywhere near your normal list of opt outs. They had no business being in the playoffs, but with a GA team wanting to make a statement and an FSU team with close to 30 scholarship players opting out including double digit starters this was never going to be a game. Some of the takes in this thread are just stupid.
  21. Leaving now, stayed at the Refinery. Have to say that compared to a few of the other places we have stayed, we really liked it. Decent size rooms, restaraunts and rooftop were both good, people were great, near Bryant Park (Christmas village was packed this week) and the subway, easy access from the airport, etc. We will probably move more towards SoHo next time as that seems to be where they all want to spend their time.
  22. Things got more difficult for her today. Knoxville which wasn’t in discussion for a long time but moved up after visits came back with sizeable money and honors college admittance. She can go there for 1/3 of what UGA will cost and be in the honors college which was important for her from the outset. She is still looking at an upper tier law school post grad, so which is better for that purpose a UGA degree or a UTK honors degree? She’s eliminated the other schools at this point and is down to those two. UGA has been her planned school for a long time and it’s not Knoxville which is a plus in my book. I would prefer that she went with one of the private schools she got into, but she is dead set on the big school experience at this point.
  23. She was determined to leave the south for college up until it actually came time to apply and then I think the travel issues and being far away from all of her friends caught up with her. She’s still waiting to see about NYU and Illinois but it would take getting money to pull her away from UGA I think. Applying outside of the top majors has helped her I would imagine. She wants to major in English which they probably don’t see a ton of.
  24. Oldest has done extremely well on acceptance rates to the colleges she applied to including several solid academic scholarships and honors college acceptances at most of them. However, she got her acceptance letter to UGA today so looks like we’ll be paying out of state for her to go to her top pick. She thought she had no shot, her advisors told her she had no shot, but she’s in.
