  1. It’s worth watching, it’s well acted and an interesting story. It’s definitely not a comedy though. The whole back story behind it is crazy and watching it unfold in the series is just as crazy.
  2. One month into the 16 year old driving and it looks like two mirrors are going to be on her Christmas list. Backing out of the garage is hard to do especially in an older house with miniature garage doors apparently. Life 360 is a nice little app to check whereabouts and driving information. I sure am glad it wasn’t around when I was 16. If it would just help her back out if the garage, it would be perfect.
  3. You have some real fans, looks like Penelope is following you around as well. On the coin front Mana is having a good run the last few weeks. Bought in at the right time on that one.
  4. They did something similar in one of the suburbs of Memphis. It made zero difference and everything kept moving right along. It was the same issue, wastewater treatment plant was overloaded.
  5. Forgot to add, the Besh restaraunt at the Thompson is really good and their rooftop bar setup is great if the weather is decent. The Bourbon Steak at the JW is our go to steak place now when in Nashville. It is outstanding. Any of the M street restaurants (Kayne Prime, Whiskey Kitchen, etc) are good. You really can’t go wrong downtown.
  6. Depends on what you want to spend and where you want to be. The Kimpton has easy access to the older bars on Division and Hattie B’s. The Thompson has easy access to the Gulch. The JW is where we have stayed the last couple of trips with access to Broadway and the areas around the Gulch. Their are cheaper hotels around them, but those are the nicer ones we have stayed at.
  7. I’m pretty sure the neck issue led to the missed games in 2019, last year was unrelated to it. I guess you could make the argument that it has led to production declines, but he is still playing well just not at his 2018/2019 pace. That draft has hardly anyone that has played at a Pro Bowl level after that pick and very few second contracts at this point.
  8. To be fair LVE has somewhat been derailed by injuries, that pick is not like the others.
  9. What? Tie is a loss in every pool I’ve ever played in. You have to win to advance.
  10. Nobody wanted to win that game. That was a horribly played OT.
  11. Correct, he probably needs to play the shittiest team available Sunday if he wants to win with the way the last two weeks have gone.
  12. Never play an f-Ing road team. Knew better than to do it.
  13. Not a fan of this one including their newest character reveal in the mid credit scenes. Everything felt completely miscast and I couldn’t get past it.
  14. Downtown Disney is an easy option from DL and as others have mentioned it’s probably a better option. My wife has been able to get reasonable reservations in the park by just keeping an eye on it. They went the first of October and she ended booking a couple of meals the week before because of cancellations. I’m not sure what that looks like around NYE with the crowds, but we much prefer DL over WDW. The size and layout are much easier to deal with.
  15. Sedona and Moab would be my choices depending on time of year and if you want to stay in one place for the trip. You could also fly into Vegas, stay for a couple of days, and hit Zion and Bryce Canyon easily from there or head towards SLC and spend a day or two in each of the national parks.
  16. It makes for a more enjoyable weekend after a Thursday night W.
  17. This is such a large percentage of people out there that it is sad. It’s nothing new, but the buzzwords spread much faster now than they used to.

Not planning on it in about 5 more years.

We both graduated from the public schools and always believed our kids would attend them. Federal lawsuits that ended the community schools along with federal management oversight turned our system into a disaster that it is having a hard time recovering from. I send my kids to private school because locally that is the best option and we have to make decisions based on what’s beat for our kids long-term.

That’s because you choose to live in a high cost district. I don’t believe that should have any bearing on the federal income tax system. Tax income, take the preferential treatments out of the system.

A solid public school district is a benefit to everyone, so paying the tax is what it is. There is a debate locally for vouchers to be able to apply part of that tax cost to private school that will probably go nowhere, but would help me feel better about it because our local system sucks.

They’ve never closed a loophole without opening 10 more. It’s why the tax code has ballooned each and every year and why at this point no one understands it. The software companies can’t even keep up with the pace of change. If we’re not going to wholesale change it, just eliminate the 20% QBI deduction, roll back the rates to where they were, roll back the estate exemption and pull in trusts and other planning vehicles back into the estate, increase the CG rates, and add a few other things to get rid of some of the lopsided benefits that have been put in place. We just worked a deal to transfer a large corporation to family members through trusts in a tax free setup that will avoid estate/gift taxes and CG taxes because of a bullshit loophole that a local law firm is taking advantage of. It’s the most lopsided transaction I’ve ever seen from a tax standpoint and it’s 100% by the book as of today.

Property taxes are a perfectly fine system for local governments. If you choose to spend $1.5M, you pay more than the guy that can get by at $500k. However, as a private school parent, it does suck to pay property taxes and still pay tuition.

All of your tax plans suck, it needs to be a simple system that people can’t play. Income above some amount (have a base that slides based on dependents) is taxed at X% with progressive increases as income goes up, all income is just income for tax purposes, get rid of the deductions because it shouldn’t matter where you live or who you donate to, incentivize retirement savings, and on down the list of shit that makes sense and keeps it easy. All trusts and assets go through estates, minimal exemption set of $X, sliding scale on tax based on asset valuations with a much lower rate than the current 40%. Business pay same sliding scale as individuals, Section 179 and bonus depreciation go away, options are taxed as earned not exercised, etc. None of this is going to happen so this whole discussion is a waste, but we need a simple system with limited variability. There is entirely too much money spent gaming the system where if we were more reasonable we could probably bring the rate structure down substantially.
