  1. Story was the same across multiple stores, so at least the company pitch has been rehearsed. Pretty sure the drop in production has also been widely discussed because of their shutdowns and material shortages and lines up with plenty of other manufacturers out there. Does not make me a whole lot of difference whether it was all company line bullshit or not, just passing along what multiple sales people said about 2020 production and what they were seeing on demand.
  2. They produced less than 40% of their normal volume last year which combined with demand through the roof has created a major Rolex shortage and increasing prices. My wife has been chasing a particular one for 9+ months with stops in 6-8 stores in multiple cities. The inventory has dropped over that period to the point where you may see 1-2 watches in store at most. She finally found one that was close enough last month in Naples and bought it. The sales people think it will be 2-3 years before it starts to catch back up. I haven’t seen any other watch manufacturer with that level of problem.
  3. I’m not sure what you’re arguing, but they have to issue 1099-K’s which is a 1099 type form for transactions processed above a threshold. 1099 is a classification for multiple types of 1099’s including INT, Misc, K, etc., there is no 1099 by itself if you want to debate semantics. They also are doing verifications on name and identifying numbers.
  4. PayPal has to issue 1099’s on activity as well as check identification numbers and names with the IRS database on business entities. If it doesn’t meet their verification process, it’s easier to kill it than investigate it. They also had too many people using the friends and family function and not paying fees as well as running fantasy and gambling activities not considered legal by certain entities to deal with all of the issues individually. You had a fake business set up to convert gift cards to cash using an invoicing system, that was never going to last.
  5. My two kids got their second shots over the weekend with virtually no issues (couple weeks late on the second because of their schedules.) The school they go to is over 60% in grades 7-12 with at least the first shot which is way higher than anyone expected. We are running at virtually no one out while the other local schools are averaging 15% of the population out a day with several districts shutting back down again. The numbers locally have been stupid high, but kids getting vaccinated and the school keeping most of the policies in place from last year have made a huge difference at least in our school.
  6. 9 months of the year in TN, 3 months in Sanibel, FL.
  7. Looks like we may be adding a CJ1 to go along with our Baron. The Baron has been great for quick trips with 1-2, but it just doesn’t have the space for anything over 2 unless you really like each other. It has also been extremely cost effective to fly at this point which is a huge plus. However, we keep running into issues of longer flights or needing to get more than 2 somewhere. After paying for use on a CJ1 that is part of our management company’s managed planes, I think partnering on one with someone is going to make sense so we can cover multiple travel options. It’s also crazy the number of clients we have now buying planes. Be interesting to see what that looks like when the economy flips at some point.
  8. As many miles as I put on a vehicle every year with a lot of those including my kids and dogs, that land yacht looks a hell of a lot better to me than that mini. Put an order for a base level Bronco, dealer thinks I may have it sooner than later since it has a soft top and few options. Going to put tires on it and leave it at the beach, it’s cheaper than a used jeep.
  9. Your take is ridiculous and you can always just not watch. I watch TV about once a week usually on Friday night, currently that is to watch Ted Lasso and then I watch Schmigadoon with my wife. Other times we’ll watch some other series on one of the subscription services or a movie, but I’m good for an hour or two on Friday and that is the extent of my time with the TV. Ted Lasso is perfect for that level of commitment, it’s always good for several laughs, I’m not invested enough to give a shit about story line inconsistencies, etc. The last episode was stupid especially coming out of the prior episode, but it still had the overall redeeming qualities that make Ted Lasso worth watching. The whole concept for the show is ridiculous in and of itself, so just watch it for 30 minutes of “entertainment.” If you really want a ridiculous concept, go watch Schmigadoon and try to explain that show.
  10. We ended up at about $90k for our gunite including heat/cool, autofills, and high end lighting. It is 16x40 or 16x42, I don’t remember which at the moment. That does not include the $30k plus in travertine work we had done.
  11. Not too much, change the oil annually, winterize if needed, change the impeller every other year, plugs and trans fluid every couple of years, etc. $500-$1000 annually at most for routine type maintenance. Anything from that year range is pretty easy to work on with pretty basic systems.
  12. We need more rain in SWFL like we need another kick in the nuts but looks like more is on the way. The water is higher around our house at the moment than I can remember it being the last several years.
  13. Looked at a 2 door Black Diamond full size Bronco while at the golf tournament today. I am seriously intrigued even more than I thought I would be. It stickered well optioned at $49k. The dealer has a base model reserved for me to use as a beach vehicle but I may have to move up models after looking st this one. They did an awesome job on the proportions and lines on it especially compared to the baby bronco.
  14. Jordan on Sunday. 11 has been a bear today, hole placement is tough.
  15. Heading back in early November for the first time since all this shit started. I’m looking forward to it, mask or no mask. If I can wear one for 5-6 hours in transit, I can wear one around the casino floor. Trying to decide between Aria or the Cosmo again, think I may go Aria for something different.
  16. Our oldest is high risk, so I understand the concerns. However, you can do most things and still operate carefully. We stuck with outdoor dining places, private boating activities, really didn’t worry about the beach or pool, a lot of the indoor places like the aquariums have not been super busy, etc. Saying that though, there are a lot of people in FL right now. You’re probably going to be shit out of luck on stop number 3 also. I imagine east TN is covered up with people and it’s square in the middle of anti-vax country. You’re probably going to be limited to driving through things, maybe some hiking, and not much else based on the concentration of people. It is likely much higher than most of the places in FL.
  17. If you end up having to avoid the beaches, the Mote Marine Aquarium is worth a visit, the Myakka River State Park is a nice area, you could go north to Tampa for a baseball game or the aquarium there or the battleship museum in Tampa, Everglades tours, go to one of the Manatee springs, Ford/Edison museums in Fort Myers, etc.
  18. If you decide to drive down to Sanibel, I would go out to Bowman’s Beach if you want a public beach. I can PM you my address also if you want to park at my house and go down to the beach from there. It’s pretty close to Bowman’s, but it is a private neighborhood surrounded by nature preserves so the beaches are usually pretty empty. There are restrooms at the pool, so it’s just whether you want to make the 2 hour and 15 minute drive back and forth. AMI is a much closer option if it stays clear and you can pretty well pull off anywhere once you are past Longboat.
  19. We just drove back home yesterday, beaches in our area were still clear. There were some pretty severe storms that came through this week, so the water isn’t as clear as normal and there is some seagrass and stuff on the beaches. However, as of Thursday it had cleared up quite a bit. I checked the current red tide map, it looks like it may be more clear north of you so you may be able to find a shorter drive. Anna Maria looks fine right now as it has cleared out of Tampa Bay. Longboat to Venice is a mess right now and I think is under a no swim advisory. If you drive down to Sanibel, weekdays would be better depending on how long you are down. Weekends are packed and it is slightly better during the week. You could also find someone that runs out to Cayo Costa from closer to where you are and just go out there for the day. It has not been busy when we have been up there. Weather has been crap this summer. Wind/rain have been pretty consistent so the beaches have not been great. Combine that with a shit ton of people and we hung out at the house most of the summer rather than getting out a lot.
  20. A lot of cardiologists also run research operations as part of their practice. I think massive amounts of information has made it more apparent how significant blood pressure is to a number of different things. I don’t remember the numbers but long term kidney problems jumped significantly once your BP passed a certain number. High BP typically also goes along with a laundry list of other health issues.
  21. Good luck, it’s better to know if there is an issue or if everything is good to go. Peace of mind is worth a lot.
  22. I take a low dose Bisoprolol/hydrochlorothiazide combo along with amlodipine. I never really thought about the effect the diuretic has on working out, but that does explain some things. I cramp up or get sore much easier now than I ever did before. There are times when I feel like I’m 40ish going on 80 from certain activities.
  23. Flown Delta a few times in the last few weeks, they have been uneventful and people have been much more respectful boarding and unloading than in the past. The airports (especially Atlanta) still seem like they are way down on volume even though I think RSW has hit some record summer volumes.
  24. Flew back down last weekend to get everything packed up to take home for the start of school. Decided to actually take the week off and try to get some end of summer fishing in. Worked out perfect with awesome weather of wind, wind, rain, more rain, wind, etc for the week. It has been an interesting summer of weather in SWFL. Did manage to catch some more snook/trout in crap water, but sight fishing big fish on the beach has been a lost cause. Time to start boat shopping again. I really like walking the beaches, but I need the option of getting out.
  25. Looked like he had to check up because his strides were off.
