  1. Also, first ever tropical storm watch issued for Southern Cali: https://www.nytimes.com/article/tropical-storm-hilary-hurricane-california-mexico.html Hurricane Hilary (lol) will weaken before making landfall but still probably going to cause major flooding in Baja and southern Cali.
  2. This movie was based on this short story: https://tonova.typepad.com/thesuddencurve/2007/07/the-marching-mo.html In it, the guy who wakes up years in the future was a conman, gifter type. The masses of morons are secretly ruled by the very few smart people left, who desperately try to get the masses of morons to stop breeding. The conman comes up with a solution- market a new life on a newly discovered world that is a paradise. Then load up large rocket ships and eject the morons into space, repeat ad infinitium until the population is reduced/stabilized. Basically mass genocide. The ruling smart elites implement the policy and the human race and planet are saved. We need a similar approach, but instead of rocket ships, maybe we could use these:

  5. @Gatorubet I negged you a few pages back for the sole purpose of unlocking the full rep spread. I owe you one next time I'm in NOLA.
  6. IF in some sort of twisted simulation fucking with us alternate reality, Killary ran against DOtarD again, who would you vote for @Incredulity?
  7. Yeah, I want to be buried in the back yard next to the two dogs who "preceded me in death." Daughter is worried about how a human grave would affect the resale value of the land. I told her "just don't tell anybody."
  8. Its border patrol: Lets make sure we all understand what is happening in that picture: A border patrol agent is pouring out water that was left in the desert to help migrants in areas where migrant deaths due to heat are common. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/members-group-giving-food-water-migrants-convicted-misdemeanors-n960816 Anybody rememeber the story of a local judge who stopped on the highway in S. Texas and gave some migrants some water who were literally dying and trying to flag down cars for help? Then she called 911, and waited with the migrants. Then got arrested by border patrol for aiding illegal immigration. I 'member. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/10/us/texas-border-good-samaritan.html
  9. Long drive Sunday. Had an Allsup's burrito and a beer on the road. 200 miles later, less than five miles from home, it happened. I have only myself to blame.
  10. there is nothing you can do there is nothing you can do there is nothing you can do except brutally beat his ass with a stick
  11. My boss was called for a civil jury trial some years back. Somebody buys some rural land in the Davis Mountains and builds a big ass house. On neighbor's undeveloped property sat a huge Texas Madrone, which was blocking the view from the house's porch, so the guy just trespasses and cuts the tree down. Neighbor sues. During voir dire, the defense lawyer asks my boss what he thinks, and my boss says "[defendant] should be hung up by his nuts until the vultures are done with him." He didn't make the jury. Pics of Texas Madrones, if you don't know what they look like: They are very slow growing, the one the size of the one that was cut down was probably over 200 yrs old.
  12. Maybe not strictly Texan, but I got my ass whooped once when I left a gate open and the cows got out.
  13. However, I never wear a cowboy hat indoors. Baseball hat indoors, depends.
  14. Matthew 7, Verse 5: Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam in thy own eye, and then see clearly to cast out the mote in thy brother's eye.
  15. I heard a story on the Texas Standard radio show this morning about the razor wire and the buoys. Cliffs Notes: The orange balls are connected to a fence of cables underneath that are attached to cement footings, so you can't swim under. As shown above, there is basically a giant circular saw blade in between each buoy so you can't safely go over. The actual border runs down the middle of the Rio Grande, they are closer to the US bank, so they are technically on the US side. They are a violation of US-Mexico treaties however. On the US side, in addition to the razor wire you see, there is razor wire hidden in the muck under the water. Anybody wading would get sliced. Which means its not intended to be a deterrent, its just simple cruelty. Remember also, other than in the Big Bend region, most of the land on the US border is private, or municipally owned, right up the middle of the river. Somebody or some municipality, is losing their access to the river. Most of the atrocities you are hearing about (pushing migrants back into the water, denying aid to injured or pregnant migrants, etc) is being done by DPS or Texas Guardsmen. Border Patrol will take them into custody, give them water and first aid, and take them to a detention center for processing. JFC, Abbot and Texas making Border Patrol the good guys.
