  1. This likely belongs in the unpopular opinions thread, but I like Jonas. His style isn't as flashy as the other top riders, and neither is his personality, but I'm wired the same way, so I can identify with him.
  2. Love them or hate them, you have to admire how they manage their team.
  3. I was going to suggest that @Knoxtnhorn rename the old TdF thread so we could keep that rolling, but this works. To answer your question, yes, Pog can win the double, but I do not think he will. Barring injury, I expect Visma/Vingegaard to again win the Tour. I do like Pog for the Giro, but weird shit often happens in Italy, so we'll have to fuck around and find out. It looks like Visma may give van Aert some leadership leash at the Giro, so that will be fun if it actually happens. I will be curious to see whether Bora improves enough to seriously support Roglič, and of course the same with Quick Step and Evenepoel. There is more top end talent than ever. It's a good time to be a cycling fan.
  4. I caught it last night, and this was my thought as well. It had some really good moments, but dragged in several places. Much of the social commentary felt forced and fell a bit flat. It's worth a watch if you can't find anything else that appeals to you, but I would not consider it "must see" cinema.
  5. Clearly, the appropriate response is to sign multiple Corn transfers this offseason.
  6. Texas - 37 Washington - 33 Penix - 29-44 303 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT, 2 sacks for -12 yards
  7. It is okay to like both Friends and Seinfeld. I'm not sure why the discussion tends to be so polarizing, or why one has to be declared better than the other. The main reason that they get compared is because they were aired back-to-back for years, during NBC's "must see TV" years. If they existed years apart or were on different networks, I doubt they'd be discussed in the same breath. Most people who watched one likely watched the other. I think both would have been successful without the other, but they absolutely benefited from being shown consecutively.
  8. This pretty much sums it up for me. I thought it was a bit unfair to have such a physically demanding task (trapeze) that would clearly be much more difficult for some teams, but Greg and John didn't really have any weaknesses, so they were going to be difficult to beat no matter what.
  9. NCAA is still tacking on rules for the TRO. Not sure how this would impact Cook. https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/39114574/ncaa-transfers-compete-tro-lose-eligibility-decision-reversed
  10. Don't we already have something like 12 pitchers in that same exact situation?
  11. The Mavs have mostly been winning against teams without a pulse, but it's always nice to take down the Lakers. I don't know how they managed it with most of the team injured, but I'll take it. The West is just brutally evenly matched. I can see Dallas finishing anywhere from 2 to 12. Realistically, the 6-seed feels about right, but so much depends on which teams can get healthy and play to their potential.
  12. Well a girl's gotta have her standards...much like Robinson choosing Texas.
  13. I agree with all of that, but my grapes would still be sour with envy.
  14. I'm going to be very annoyed if Villa finish above Arsenal in the table. Emery appears to have them playing better than what he accomplished with the Gunners. I prefer Arteta, but it's still annoying.
  15. Yep. My preferred order is dad/son, beards, brothers, but all are likeable. It's been a good season.
  16. No, if it were up to me, I would not have hired RT away from UTEP. No one would have. Where we cease to share common ground is that I have not already come to the conclusion that what we saw from RT at UTEP is the best he will ever do. I mean, he showed last season that he is at least capable of competently leading a team with a lot of potential to the Elite Eight. He has also shown that he is capable of attracting talent to Texas, or at least not scaring it away if you think NIL is the primary factor that determines where players sign. It remains to be seen if he is capable of repeatedly turning a collection of talent into a cohesive team that makes deep postseason runs. No coach, even those with skins on the wall, accomplishes that every season, not even Saint Beard. You like to constantly remind everyone that you think hiring RT was a huge mistake. You do it when any little thing goes wrong. You do it when any little thing goes right. I suspect you even do it in your sleep. Trust me, WE KNOW. We ALL know. I would suggest that you do not need to keep reminding us, but something inside you says that if you keep repeating it, we will suddenly agree with you. I also know that telling you that we won't isn't going to change anything. My point has always been that RT is the Head Coach at Texas, even if he isn't who any of us would have hired when he was at UTEP. Most of us have come to terms with why he was hired. Can we at least see what he can accomplish in this role before we constantly shit on him? If he performs the way you expect, then sure, scream it from the top of The Tower what a horrible hire this was. You'll likely have a lot of company to that end. No one is going to forget that you told us all. I'm not predicting years of unparalleled success, and I have not seen anyone else do that. I'm simply suggesting we give RT the same opportunity to prove himself that we would anyone else that we could have hired. He's here. He deserves that much.
  17. You've convinced me. How could I be so wrong as to have a little optimism that Terry has learned some things in his 28 years and might actually improve? If only there were a good example of a coach who has been able to exceed all expectations by accomplishing things at Texas that he was unable to achieve in his previous head coaching gigs. I mean that shit never ever happens. It's also my understanding that QBs never get better with experience. I admit it. We are doomed. Don't let that piece of sky hit you.
  18. Perhaps not, but premature lack of sunshine makes me extra surly.
  19. I thought he was going to have to be rescued from the swim there for a minute. Have to hand it to him. He only lost his cool once...at least that they showed, and I think that was due to navigation crap if I remember correctly. They struggled with that the entire race.
