  1. The documentary was very good, although there was so much music they didn't cover. I don't recall hearing Jesus Just Left Chicago, Waiting for the Bus, Cheap Sunglasses, I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide, Heard it on the X (although they talked about the X stations), Mexican Blackbird, Balinese, and more. I remember not being able to go to the Worldwide Texas Tour show at the Summit--my parents thought I was too young--I might have been, and I'm still pissed about it.

  3. Chef Prudhomme’s recipe calls for a roux base and then he adds the usual butter and trinity. It’s good but extremely rich. I prefer the non-roux version.

    Getting old sucks

That’s pretty close to my schedule. I’m a big spinning guy. I’m 57 and since I turned 42 or so I’ve been working out as much as my schedule allows. I play golf every weekend (carrying my clubs most days) and I weigh about 12 pounds more than I did when I graduated from UT in 1984. I might have gained one inch in the waste. My wife (no pics) is my age and she probably only weighs 5-10 pounds more than when we got married 31 years ago. IMO, there’s no excuse not to stay in shape.

It is a lofty goal. I don’t comply 100% but the book is a good read and the theory seems sound.

Moderation. I haven’t cut out all white starches but I do try to limit them. And i love fries, mashed potatoes and white rice. Yeah, you might be able to eat whatever you want and make it to 80+ but it’s rare. Many doctor friends have told me there’s a reason you don’t see very many 70+ year old fat people walking around. So many people, men and women, seem to just let themselves go when they get into their late 40’s or even sooner. My goal is to be as active as I can for as long as I can. I want to be able to play golf and regularly shoot my age over 18 holes.
  7. If Kim does something illegal to get the old guy out of the house then she’s an idiot or the worst lawyer ever or both. She said the guy already lost in court. The bank can get a writ of possession and any LEO would have that guy out in 5 min. That scene had several purposes. But the bank was trying to go cheap and avoid the formal process of obtaining the writ of possession (so-called in Texas). They were hoping Kim could work some cheap magic. It’s still relatively cheap to get him out and very straight forward from a legal perspective.

Find a copy of Younger Next Year. It’s a book targeted for men 50+ (they have one for women too) written by a retired NY lawyer and his internist. In a nutshell, cut out white starches entirely, 45 min of cardio five days a week and weights two days a week. It’s a recipe for staying active well into your 80’s. The lawyer is the cheerleader and the internist explains the science.
  9. Yep. I thought that old asshole was going to gun her down with a shotgun blast through the door. But her demise probably ends up being more directly related to Saul.

  11. Exactly. And there are other issues. The one that should have been obvious from my post is that for tournament play we all should want everyone’s handicap to be as current as possible. If someone scores a couple of great rounds and “forgets” to post them right away it can inflate the handicap. Then there are the vanity guys who never post their high scores. The new software gives easy access to your favorite’s last 20 scores. I know guys who play once or twice every weekend but their last 20 scores go back a year. Most are not sandbaggers—they just want to keep their handicap in a certain range. They almost never shoot their handicap.
  12. 1845 US President John Tyler signs a resolution annexing the Republic of Texas 1932 The "Lindbergh kidnapping", 20 month old son of Charles and Anne Lindbergh kidnapped from home in East Amwell, New Jersey, found dead 12 May 1954 4 Puerto Ricans open fire in US House of Representatives injuring 5 members 1973 Pink Floyd release their album "Dark Side of the Moon", since sold over 45 million copies
  13. Under the new handicap system we need to post scores on the same day. Indices are reset daily at midnight I believe.
  14. School districts everywhere have had embezzlement issues. The Maintenance departments are a treasure trove for the higher ups in the department. Its very hard to trace where all of the bulk building supplies go. There was a case in the late 80’s in the Goose Creek ISD when the maintenance director built a bay cabin with misappropriated school district materials.
  15. Wading like you would in a Texas bay or in the surf? I would think the steep shorelines would make wading difficult in the Highland Lakes. I’ve never seen anyone do it.
  16. Can’t tell from your post, but don’t use Clorox and ammonia wipes together or while the surface is still wet from the first wipe. Hopefully everyone knows about not mixing clorox and ammonia.
  17. I agree with Lurch on Streamsong. I loved the Red and Blue courses. Don't bother with the new Black course. I hate driving to/from hotel and golf courses on golf trips. And if you are a wine guy, go to Bern's Steakhouse in Tampa the day before and spend the night in Tampa. Steaks are ok, but it has one of the best wine lists in the country.
  18. This. We leave our DNA everywhere. There’s a huge potential for abuse and I will get flamed, but I could support a national DNA data base. I’m also very much pro gun but I would not object to a data base of gun ballistics. Regarding the latter, I suspect guns are stolen so often that it might not be worth it.
  19. 1935 Adolf Hitler secretly authorizes formation of the Luftwaffe with Hermann Göring commander-in-chief. My avatar soon warns his government about it, but nothing is done. 1989 Dallas Cowboys fire coach Tom Landry after a 29-year career. When I stopped being a Cowboys fan. 1993 "World Trade Center bombing of 1993": truck bomb explodes in parking garage of NYC World Trade Center at 12:18pm, killing 6 and injuring over 1,000 in what was the deadliest act of terrorism perpetrated on US soil at the time
  20. This. I suppose it's good to have a DWI defense lawyer in your phone--although with Uber that's becoming a thing of the past for many people, but what the hell are people doing here that they feel the need to have a vetted criminal defense attorney at their finger tips?
  21. Eat it. It looks like pre-flower dandelion.
  22. I went last week. It was very good, but so are Pappas, Vic and Anthony’s, B&B, etc.
  23. Great moments are born from great opportunity. And that's what you have here tonight, boys. That's what you've earned here, tonight. One game. If we played 'em ten times, they might win nine. But not this game. Not tonight. Tonight, we skate with 'em. Tonight, we stay with 'em, and we shut them down because we can! Tonight, we are the greatest hockey team in the world. You were born to be hockey players -- every one of ya. And you were meant to be here tonight. This is your time. Their time -- is done. It's over. I'm sick and tired of hearin' about what a great hockey team the Soviets have. Screw 'em! This is your time!! Now go out there and take it!
