  1. 25 years ago, I moved and found a new dentist near my house. I have a very small chip on one of my front teeth, I don't even know how I got it. But the guy would mention it every fucking time I saw him. "Say, you wanna get that chip fixed? We can take care of it!!". After 2-3 visits with this guy, I ditched his ass. Just clean my teeth, FFS. Not one of the dentists I've seen since then have mentioned the chip.
  2. Cig ain't going anywhere. He already makes 9MM+ and his buyout is 56MM+. The university has a shit-ton of money, fucking Mark Cuban just donated money to athletics for the first time ever. He's coached 19 games and he's already a legend. Plus he's already 64. He owns Bloomington.
  3. My wife makes fun of me because I tell Siri "Thanks" after I have it set a timer or something. I told her when the machine takeover eventually happens, Siri will remember my kind heart and pleasant attitude.
  4. Man, the only thing this story was missing was "That's a lot of ice cream, Flip-Flop!". 10/10, would read again.

    London

We either eat at pubs or at Pret. We're usually just trying to eat quick before we head out to do something. Always somewhere cool to explore.
  6. I got a call from scammers. I guess they had spoofed the number from my CU, the same number I've been calling for 35+ years, I know it by heart. They had an indian accent, but don't 90% of these call center people these days? They tried texting me codes and shit but they wouldn't go through. I got suspicious and hung up. Called my CU, got the usual Okie accented chick and was informed that I had been duped. At least they hadn't been able to access my account. What ruined it for them was that their accent was so fucking thick, I could hardly make out what he was saying. If they had used an AI voice thing, I def could've been fucked.
  7. Well, my daughter has offically moved away. She and her son were staying with us for the last week to wrap up things here before joining her husband. I still think it's a poor decision and we aren't being told the whole story, but I'm trying not to dwell on the negative. I miss having my grandson around. I was in the guest bathroom and saw his baby wash/shampoo and got sad. They're supposed to be back in a few weeks for my birthday, so I have that to look forward to. And my other daughter and granddaughter are still just across town, not even 10 minutes away. The sun will rise tomorrow. (And it'll be right in my damn eyes, as I drive due east to work)
  8. The standard work day should end at 3:00 pm. Nobody gives a shit after 3. Only morons who can't get their shit together and are always late (i.e. women), try and do shit right before 5. Just sit on it till tomorrow, please. Obviously this doesn't apply to the usual suspects of police, fire, hospital, etc. Just us office fucks.
  9. I tried to buy an Ioniq 5 twice, from 2 different dealerships. One pulled a bait and switch on the price "Oh that online price (that doesn't mention leasing at all) is only for leasing the car". The other lowballed the shit out of my trade, buy the tune of $6000. When I showed their sales mgr my carmax offer, he told me they couldn't match it, as carmax has "no overhead", and said I should sell it to carmax and return to buy his car. I told him sure, and that he should definitely hold his breath as he awaits my return. I wound up getting a Model Y back in June and I really like it. Not buying gas is just awesome.
  10. It kind of sounds like you're bragging that your wife doesn't treat you like a fucking weatherman. "Do I need a coat today? What's the weather supposed to be today? Is it supposed to rain today?". I've told her 1000 times that she has a weather app on her phone, which is apparently glued to her fucking hand, but my words go unnoticed.
  11. I like Twinkies, I take 2 of them in my lunch every day (but I don't eat them when I'm at home). I buy them in the box of 10, so there's always enough for a week's worth of lunches. I went to make my lunch the other day and there was only one left in the box. Turns out my sister-in-law (hot, no pics) took one while she was at our house over the weekend. Incredibly trivial, but I was pissed that I only had one for my lunch. I didn't even take it; I gave it to my grandson instead.
  12. When I'm in the office and I decide to either listen to a podcast or watch a youtube video as I'm working, it never fails. I either get a phone call or have to leave my desk right after I hit the play button. It's like these fuckers can see me.
  13. The vacuum bags "work", in the sense that they do indeed compress your shit. I used them for t-shirts and undershirts and found that the bags got flat as fuck and I was pleased. But they also have a bunch of excess plastic around the edges that has to go somewhere, and it tends to bunch up. So it might not be worth it, depending on your bag. I was using a basic roller suitcase and it worked fine for me, FWIW.
  14. No offense to this guy, but I fucking hated Supertramp. My friend would play that shit when we rode in his car and he'd sing along, just to get my goat. I'm glad he'd dead, Jimmy!!
  15. We're in Oklahoma, not Texas. And I can tell you that my kids don't give a shit about anything having to do with politics, so any of those factors played zero part in this decision.
  16. I got to sit down with my daughter and really talk about this move she's making. There was more to it than I realized (which I kinda knew) and I feel better about it. Her baby is due in January and she's been feeling the pressure of going back to work sooner than she'd like. She wants to be able to be home with him for more than just the 6 weeks of maternity leave. When her husband got laid off, it was like a window of opportunity had opened. They can stay with his folks for a while, maybe a year. By that time, she should be back working and they can get their own place. She's already got leads on some jobs and her husband's family has a large network to work with, or so I'm told. I told her that, while I'm not "happy" about this, I'm also not "angry" about it. I don't want her to move but I get it. If she had left home for college at 18, I wouldn't feel like she was making a huge mistake and fucking up our lives. We're going to miss seeing her and our grandson regularly but flights to Denver are short and not expensive. So we plan to visit regularly. I think this was the best outcome I could've hoped for. all things considered.
  17. My daughter's husband recently lost his job, so they have decided that the best option is for her to quit her job, then they take their son and move to Colorado, to live in his parents' basement. He has supposedly secured a job out there with a family friend. My kid has a really good job with good benefits and is leaving it behind to do.....what? She's pregnant and won't be working "for a while" when they're out there. I wonder if she really wants to be a SAHM, which is fine I guess. I just don't get how this shit seemingly came to life in the span of 10 days. I think his folks were putting some pressure on him to move out there. My wife is crushed that our grandson will be a 10 hour drive away, instead of the current 10 minutes. I think they're making a big mistake but there's nothing I can do about it.
  18. Grew up in Wiesbaden. Dad had a '78 Pinto wagon. It was not as much fun.
  19. My high school buddy was finishing his eagle scout stuff before we graduated. I'm not gonna say he hated it, but he was so over it by the time he was done. His older brother was an eagle scout as well, I think there was some pressure from his mom to get it done. He never spoke about his scout stuff unless it was to bitch about something he had to do for his eagle program. After the ceremony, he never talked about scout shit ever again.
  20. I'd have sent him an invoice and asked him which ones he was paying for.
  21. My dad went to have an echo test and some bloodwork. The results are that his heart isn't any worse but it's not getting better either. The doc suggests that dad gets an internal defibrillator, dad has declined. He told my sister that he doesn't want to spend what time he has left going in and out of the hospital. I don't know when he has to make his decision about the device but as of now, he ain't interested. I don't like it but there's not much I can do. He keeps saying that he wants to be with my mom, who passed in 2007. I'm at the point where I'm not going to argue with him.
  22. If guys playing guitar outside of subways or on street corners really wanted to make some money, they should play classic rock guitar solos. I don't give those guys playing Ed Sheeran or whatever a second glance, but if I came out of the subway/metro/underground and a guy is playing Stranglehold or Layla, I'm gonna toss him a buck or two. If he plays Frankenstein, he gets a $10.

    London

Heading back to London on Tuesday. We usually stay in South Kensington but we're shifting slightly west to Earl's Court this time. It's gonna be so nice to ditch the 95 degree heat for 75 and under for a couple of weeks.
  24. My wife was doing some wordle type puzzle last night and said, "Don't judge me, but do you know what a "Glint" is?". I said yeah and explained it, she said she had never heard of it. I said it's similar to gleam. She looked at me with the same puzzled expression and said "I've never heard that word either.".
