  1. Look, fuckhead...you know damn well that even the members that voted no all agreed that having more representation is better. The reason they voted no is because they didn't want to have to win 60% or 64% to pass something. It was 100% self serving. * If this prop fails and strong mayor fails, there is no change. * If this prop fails the vote and strong mayor passes, you still have no change, still have an uneven number and need only a simple majority. * If this vote passes and strong mayor passes, it doesn't matter if you have an uneven number because the mayor would have veto power anyway. * If this prop passes the vote and the strong mayor fails then you have an even number and need to win with a 7-5. So they just didn't want to end up in a position where they had to win 7-5 to get their way. So yeah...that makes sense to me and is logical. It's only not logical to you because you have your head so far up Adler's ass you only want exactly what he wants.
  2. Eat dick. The fuckup belongs to the entire Council, not just the people that voted yes. Obviously none of them understood what they were voting on or they would have fixed it or shelved it before the vote. Don't try to blame it only on the people that didn't like your opinion of it.
  3. And why did the camping ban language only specifically include areas downtown and around UT? I don't want that shit up where I live the same as those fucks don't want it right outside City Hall.
  4. So she and a few other Council Members voted against your wishes again and it's a huge problem? Got it. Maybe you should just tell them to vote exactly the way you want them to to each time? You know, to make things easier.
  5. I live way down in the Bull Creek basin. Temps at our house are usually 3-7 degrees cooler than what is being reported for Austin. It looks like we will likely dip below freezing at 10 PM on Saturday and stay below until 10 AM on Tuesday. We're gonna need a shitload of bourbon.
  6. I wonder how that "Total Institutional Debt" of $1.5B compares to the rest of the country? Not only do they lie about having the largest endowment, it also kinda looks like they are further in debt than most other schools in the country.
  7. NWS finally came around for Austin. Projected low for Saturday night is onw 20 degrees. Seems like the models are starting to agree.
  8. There is a new overpass going over 35 in Georgetown as we speak. It will connect FM971 across the freeway to Northwest Blvd, about 3/4 mile north of Williams Dr. That project will be done in probably a year or less?? Once complete, as mentioned, the construction on the Williams Dr overpass will commence to create the diverging diamond. There is a massive upgrade on RM2243 (Leander Rd) joining Leander and Georgetown. Elevated, limited access, flyovers, etc. It will be basically like 183 or 290. I'd guess it's probably less than 6 years away from beginning construction. I agree with something said earlier that the City does typically plan better than most, but I also agree that Georgetown is probably about to be a shitshow for traffic. Too little, too late in place that is growing so fast. It has basically tripled in size in 15 years.
  9. I can't speak to the future, but the elderly population has continued to rise in Georgetown. There are far more 55+ communities here than just the well known, Sun City. Granted, for the past few years, the growth in elderly living units has been primarily in Assisted Living and retirement homes as opposed to subdivisions full of single family homes/garden homes. I can also say that no one is moving to Georgetown for affordability. It's not cheap to live in Georgetown compared to the surrounding wilco cities. With that said, there has been an explosion of growth in the SE quadrant of the city in homes that are much cheaper than the homes being built on the west side oft he highway. The down side on that area is that it is basically indistinguishable from RR and Pflugerville. Georgetown has gotten much better about restaurants and entertainment, but it is still very lacking.
  10. I assume it is just a battle models, but my weekend forecast from the NWS is about 15-20 degrees warmer Wed-Sun that my forecast from Wundeground. For instance; the Saturday night low on NWS is 40. The same night, WG shows a low of 18. This is for 78750 in NW Austin.
  11. About fucking time
  12. I didn’t realize there was such a Victoria contingent on Surly. I was born in Victoria and grew up in Edna and went to school in Victoria for my 3rd thru 6th grade years at Nazareth. We moved to Austin in 83. I still have a lot of family there. I haven’t been in several years, but after this thread, I will need to check a lot of these out. Thx.
  13. What's on the line for the Brocks coming to Texas?
  14. As the Poet Erick Lynn Wright once so eloquently stated.... One Two suckas dead, L.A. Times front page.
  15. Everyone that recruits against them will remind every high school player of this.
  16. Get your muskets ready.
  17. So what you are saying is that all of these millions dollar hotels won't fix the problems that everyone in town is fucking tired of dealing with. Great.
  18. So if the 3000 number is true and each hotel holds 150 people, you think the city should be buying and operating 10 hotels to house the homeless? And when the homeless of Dallas and San Antonio figure out that in Austin you get a free hotel room, and then they all move here, the Austin should own and operate 20 hotels? Sounds fucking ridiculous.
  19. I seriously don't buy that 3k number at all. I have no hard numbers to go on but my "feeling" is that just below the 6 overpasses on 183 and the one big one down under Ben white you are likely getting close to 1500 and that leaves all of downtown and the big concentration off of Pleasant Valley and everywhere else in town to make up the other half. There really is no chance that 3000 is correct.
  20. Someone has to pay for all of Chody's lawsuits and all of the grift on the Wilco Commissioners Court.
  21. Then why do more and more homeless continue moving to Austin from all over Texas, despite Austin having a much, much higher housing costs than the places they are moving from?
  22. There was a long time, director level person at different business unit at my place of employment, that as of just like 3-4 years ago I think, still had his secretary print out all of his emails and have them sitting on his desk for him to read when he had time.
  23. I was I was just about to post this guess as well
