  1. IT's funny, I've worked in DC on a lot of sustainability issues. The best recycling programs are actually rural self sort at the dump. It encourages people who care to actually do the work to sort Aluminum, Paper, Glass, then separate sort Plastics by 1,2, & 5. Single bin recycling is a total failure. If you actually care, we should incentivize aluminum over plastic and glass, and use a deposit system to ensure the bulk of it gets recycled. I also think that with modern scrubbers, if we are going to send so much garbage to the dump, we might as well burn it. What's the point of pulling hydrocarbons out of the ground so we can turn it into a non degradable substance, then throw it away. We might as well get some steam heat out of it. Every load of garbage you burn is a load of coal or gas you don't have to burn to keep the lights on.
  2. There is an obvious sex joke around Mr. Fantastic simply can't be waived away. It just sits there and potentially turns every scene into a "That's what she said" farce. Plus the Thing looks stupid in Real life. They are just a comic that's time has passed. Kind of like how Strangers in a Strange Land was edgy and important in the early 60s, but reads very silly now (Groking). It's why the Incredibles is the definitive Fantastic Four.
  3. Feels like a good time to repost one of the great memes of all time:
  4. Lol, a guy on my Facebook was literally just doing this.
  5. Plus any of Fisher’s assistants buyouts. And possibly one or two of Lanning‘s assistants as well, if he wants to bring them along. And I would be shocked if Nike doesn’t also have a side deal with Lanning that would have to be paid back.
  6. 👆Also, this.
  7. I have no inside knowledge of UO, other than having a sophomore there. What I can say is: 1)Two weeks is lots of time for Shoe Daddy to make sure Lanning stays out. 2)Show me Dan Lanning after Nix graduates, and I’ll tell you how good he actually is. He’s made plenty of dumbass in game choices that Nix and a veteran defense mostly recruited by Cristobal have covered for.
  8. So at the risk of outing myself as an amoral DC swamp dweller who will do anything to defend their client.... Michigan is taking a page from the modern crisis management playbook: Accuse your accusers, threaten legal action, get politicians to bully your opponent, muddy the narrative, play the persecution card. The old days of do the right thing and get in front of the scandal died on the second tuesday in November of 2016. Also, the NCAA is such a limp dick fuck up, it couldn't get laid in a whore house on pay day.
  9. You would make a hell of a lobbyist. Hit me up. This is how it is done.
  10. Well, it shouldn’t be a state, but the GOP in the 1880s needed senators.
  11. Join the cool kids, bro:
  12. Whatever the technical cause of death, he died of the same thing that killed Sizemore: Hard Living. He and Kudrow were the comedic glue of the show. Even if it was always second rate to Seinfeld.

  14. That gas isn't going to pump itself, chief.
  15. If we are going on quality of acting, lots of room for secondary characters, and not just have it be "look at all these statute winners," I'd argue, along with Heat, Aliens has one of the better overall casts you will see in a movie. Everyone nails their lines and scenes, from start to finish, especially Paul Reiser and Bill Paxton. Carrie Henn's performance, in retrospect, is very flat, but it actually works as a traumatized child within the space of the film. Boogie Nights really doesn't have a flaw either, other than Heather Graham can't act, but she sure is good at being hot.
  16. Sounds like everyone has been locked in their dorms since yesterday evening.
  17. Lewiston is a weird place. It's a long dead mill town with a sizeable francophone population that is poor. Plus one of the largest Somali communities in the country. And an elite Liberal Arts college that plays home to the children of East Coast wealth every fall/winter/spring (the town vs. gown is off the charts).
  18. Everyone is safe, I appreciate the thought. Pretty upset about the whole thing though.
  19. Did somebody say Joel Klatt? Never a wrong time:
  20. When I was in HS in the early 90s, some friends and I were headed to a HS soccer game. One of my buddies was drinking a 40. The rest of us sober, including myself as driver. The Westlake PD must have seen us chilling in the parking lot before the game, and decided to hassle us. Cuffed, leaning on the cruiser after the initial "How's it going, Boys, why don't you step out of the vehicle." When they started to search the car, I objected, like any teenage dickhead, and the officer's partner promptly bounced my head off the hood. Saw stars/slumped to the ground, etc. Eventually, they figure out they don't have much more than Minor in Possession for my buddy and some sort of ticket for me, so they call our parents. My other friend's dad, a prominent attorney at Brown McCarroll, shows up at the station to pick us up, takes one look at the huge bruise starting to emerge on the side of my face as I'm sitting on a bench in cuffs, and asks to see the shift leader quietly. I heard yelling for about 10 minutes, another more senior office comes running in, the next thing I know, I'm being apologized to by the head of the Westlake PD. My mom still grounded me for most of the rest of my senior year.
