  1. I feel like they'd "Philippines" Canada. We're bringing back the insulars!
  2. What kind? I'm on year 3 with a Santa Rosa and it's looking the same as yours right now.
  3. I have a hard time controlling the dewberry and blackberry. They're damn near indestructible. I didn't get a lot of fruit last year from them though but the birds sure as shit did.
  4. Smells like Jalapeno time outside. Blackberries, dewberries, peaches, and plums are starting to wake up too. Also my mint from last year is back and by back, I mean it is everywhere. In the flower pots, in the garden, in the lawn. Everywhere.
  5. VTI is similar at around -8.83%, but still +7% on the full year (-6.37 YTD).
  6. I've heard this from some podcasts and I think it would be great to get universities involved with the tree even if that isn't the best path to creating pro soccer players.
  7. The 2nd one was probably my favorite. I absolutely love it when SK sets his novel in a bookstore or writer setting.
  8. I just read Bag of Bones with knowing nothing about it going into it. It was a pleasant Needful Thingsish/Revivalish type read if that makes sense. I only have like 15 more SK novels to go which is tragic. On the "how many does he have left?" argument. Supposedly he has some novels ready to go for when he passes.
  9. Hey I saw this one in the wild this weekend. You'll be shocked to know it as a 55–65-year-old balding white dude wearing sunglass on an overcast day.
  10. Have we talked about the Walburg Travel Center outside of Georgetown? That place is low key a Mexican chip mecca with about 100 options. I have no idea how or why but it's a goldmine. Got some basics yesterday on the way home from the Austin FC game.
  11. Weird enough I feel much better after the match than after Portland. I wanna see what the team looks like after a couple more matches because I think the talent is really there to make the playoffs (not saying much in MLS). Also I'm really ready for a warm game.
  12. Oh hey free scarves for the first 10k tomorrow. Did anyone get a chance to try La Barbecue for the first game? I meant to but I was too cold to move.
  13. Port the Cow, TX Palace, TX Screw, TX The Bully, TX The Field, TX Hidalgo is now named after Viggo Mortensen
  14. Edit: NVM already posted
  15. Matagorda has many fun options for translation
  16. Surely its Svatok with Leo as the back-up to both right?
  17. Nah he'd cut it into small pieces and then sell it in his limited-edition trading cards.
  18. You think you understand humanity then you see people not using Surly dark mode and your worldview is shattered.
  19. Man, Austin should have built their stadium in Georgetown Anyway, the stink of Saturday is off and I'm ready to get hurt again. Colorado has a sneaky decent MLS roster, and this is one that a playoff team needs (well as much as a team needs anything in the 3rd matchday) to get a result in.
  20. Away at Wycombe on the 15th is gonna be crazy.
  21. And your mother-in-law really did see that fairy out by the downed tree. It's incredibly rude to doubt it or laugh about it. OH, and I forgot, you talked to another woman in your wife's dream last night. I hope you are ready for a day of hell. God, I love Mexico
  22. I love Mexico, but being in Mexico is like being in a novel in both good and bad ways outside of cartels. You can feel the energy in the air the moment you step foot in the country no matter which state you're in and that's generally a shock to the white American that grew up eating meat and potatoes, going to the local FBC, paid his HoA fees on time, and cheered on Reagan's dismantling of the Soviet Union only to abandon American exceptionalism in the Trump Era. It takes a few months to understand the real differences and to acclimatize to Latin America. First thing to learn is that you don't complain about the rooster being loud at unholy hours. It's been his home longer than it's been yours and nobody gives a shit about your gringo ass sleep schedule. Although I guess if one lives in an expat enclave then they may be able to spend their way out of living in Mexico and instead end up living in some sort of halfway state that is in neither country.
  23. I have an old Jetta that I'll drive to work and back until it needs some repair >$1,000 and I "forgot" to change the oil for a good 2 years in there and it handled it like a champ. I might "forget" again so it'll finally die, and I have the incentive to get something newer. Barron is juggling the cyber and college. That's a full workload.
  24. American Christianity is fascinating and, imo, will be studied long after the US ceases to exist in its current form.
