  1. First if all they need to be the 11/12 year old team. Then they have to win their district, sectional, state, and regional tournaments. Win all four and you go to Williamsport. Realistically you need to win about 17-18 games without ever losing more than one game in any of the tournaments leading up to Williamsport. also the teams that make it to the World Series are full of kids who all play summer, fall and winter select. They just play LL in the spring (although some play both LL and Select in the Spring - crazy parents).
  2. guys is a stud. really like him after watching that video.
  3. gotta love having the current AL batting avg. leader in the 7 hole.
  4. you want to live in Montecito so you're gonna need to start negotiations at $500k.
  5. San Francisco hits all the marks. The big question is do you want to go North to Muir Woods/ Napa/Sonoma/Russian River or South to Carmel/Monterrey/Big Sur. You could do it all but that would be way too much car time. I would probably go north, because I like the Napa valley and the amazing restaurants you can hit while you are there. Make sure you time the trip to catch an afternoon Giants game.
  6. Mom was in for Easter, so The Reluctant Debutante - 1958 - Rex Harrison, Sandra Dee, Kay Kendall (steals the show) Easter Parade - 1948 - Fred Astaire, Judy Garland, Ann Miller, Peter Lawford Both solid to very solid
  7. Yes, Tony said Chechens, but Paulie heard and repeated "Czechoslovakians", that is what made it even funnier.
  8. just re watched Pine Barrens the other night. Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri You're not gonna believe this. He killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. The guy was an interior decorator. Christopher Moltisanti : His house looked like shit.
  9. that's why close captioning exits. Funny funny show that would be impossible to follow without CC.
  10. First that my parents took me with them was either Ray Price or Wayne Newton...although possibly there was a HLSR concert before that. Of course this doesn't include the bands my grandfather and father played in on the SA dance hall circuit back when I was just a toddler. The first I ever paid my own money to see was Foreigner with Cheap Trick opening for them - 1978 at The Summit. Not surprisingly Cheap Trick was the better of the two bands.
  11. car my neighbor rebuilt
  12. Now most probably everyone who has posted on this thread has this album, but if by chance one of you doesn't, then get it. A really great way to be introduced or re-introduced to Texas Songwriters
  13. Runaways? I'm guessing the Hook Up bar at Los Suenos.
  14. He also got hurt in the fall (is there something in the water there?) with a thumb issue and could not participate in practice. 45 guys for 35 spots - with two senior catchers returning (which almost never happens)
  15. he's done a little more than just practice in the fall. He was on the 35 man roster all last year and went to Omaha. He basically caught every bullpen session for the team last year. Very good defensive catcher for sure.
  16. Saw them last year in Houston and it was a fantastic show. Would see them in Vegas if I happened to be there. Ya the price is high, but it would probably actually limit my gambling losses to go see a concert for a few hours. Yes I think they screwed Felder over and I think Frey was a asshole. But seeing Joe Walsh was awesome. 17. Same. Had a Mom in fall ball insist that her son would feel more a part of the team if he got to play first base. Background - at this point I've played the kid at every position in the field except 1b and SS. The kid was a total head case, who COULD NOT CATCH A BALL, but used some of the most colorful language I've ever heard in a dugout - he would've made Billy Martin blush. I brought it to the Mom's attention about the need to be able to catch and play first base......of course that leads to ten minutes of her complaining about what a terrible father her husband was and it wasn't her fault he couldn't catch. So.....I put the kid at 1b for an inning late in a game. Well the first play the ball is hit to my SS (who by the way is left handed and has a rocket for an arm....maybe best arm in the league). Well I see it all in slow motion....the kid at first base is watching the runner come to first and not looking for the throw, rocket armed SS unleashes a strike which misses 1b head by no more that a few inches. I look over at the Mom in the stands who gives me the universal hand gesture for "get him of off first!". Sigh.
  18. this x1000. Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals. Every regular season and all star team I ever coached we spent the first part of practice hitting loads of grounders and fly balls. I always told the players before every game to just make the play in front of them - field the grounder and make the throw, catch the routine fly ball and hit the cut off man. It's great if you make a miraculous play, but the team that makes more of the routine plays usually wins this game. also practice plans should involve as many stations as you can manage - especially when they are young. No more than two kids at a station - lots of reps. Little kids will start chasing butterflies if not engaged.
  19. Ha! Turner's a good kid from a Texas baseball family. He knows how the business works.
  20. when he barfed on the stripper...."I'm sorry, I'm sorry"
  21. Turner Gauntt (C) called back to the team yesterday.
