  4. I put my order in just afternoon midnight Wednesday/Thursday for pickup yesterday. The wait in the line of cars down E. 11th to pick up was like an hour long. And they weren't handing out free Lone Star. Still delicious though.

  7. Are you sure about that? I had to "opt in" to the new payment system and send them a check for $150. It was crystal clear from the email and mailing I received that if you wanted to cancel your contract you just didn't send them $150. In fact, here's the email I received that required you to sign a new agreement. Did you sign a new agreement AND send them a $150 payment and now you want a refund?
  8. Valuations are, in theory, as of January 1. In other words, before the shit hit the fan. So commercial valuations, in theory, should be increased. I went ahead and paid ProTax the 150 for my house on the bet that they wouldn’t have as many clients this year since the Tax Assessor said they would keep everything at last year’s values. And yeah. If your tax value was below your market value last year, you’re going up. Which is another reason the protest.

    Yeah. That one on the Drag and the one in Oak Hill (where Via Pizza is now) were our typical go-tos. When they closed we'd occasionally venture north to the one on Airport. It wasn't quite the same, and that space was gross. That whole building probably is being held together by spilled beer from upstairs.

  16. Got it. I misunderstood your original point and thought you were questioning his position on the case in question. Lo siento. As a lawyer (not an appelate or trial lawyer, but a Con Law nerd and AmJur recipient lol) I still feel like Schumer was way out of line (as is Trump when he goes off on judges and justices).

Roberts for all his faults has tried to maintain the decorum and public non partisanship of the Court. He’s not responsible for Kavanaugh or Gorsuch being appointed (or Sotomayor who was also a political appointment like Kavanaugh).
  18. Not sure what your point is. Roberts voted against the similar Texas law. Are you suggesting he was out of line for responding to Schumer? I’m not a big fan of Roberts personally given his predisposition to upholding Executive branch authority (regardless of the party) but I don’t see an issue with his statement here.

Schumer, D-N.Y., suggested that President Donald Trump's court appointees, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, "won't know what hit" them if they vote to uphold abortion restrictions. He spoke during a rally on the sidewalk in front of the court building. "I want to tell you Gorsuch, I want to tell you Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price,” Schumer said. In a highly unusual written statement issued late Wednesday, Roberts said "statements of this sort from the highest levels of government are not only appropriate, they are dangerous." "All members of the Court will continue to do their job, without fear or favor, from whatever quarter," Roberts said. The court was hearing a challenge to a Louisiana law requiring doctors who perform abortions to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals. It was the first major abortion case to reach the Supreme Court since the retirement of Anthony Kennedy, who voted to uphold a woman's right to choose. He was replaced by Kavanaugh, who is generally more conservative. Schumer told the crowd that state legislatures are waging a war on women by passing tough new abortion laws. "I want to tell you, Gorsuch, I want to tell you, Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price. You won't know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions." The senator's spokesman said Schumer was referring to the political price Republicans "will pay for putting them on the court."   20. Holy shit. The end of the US Sevens tournament was incredible. Fiji dominates the entire match until two minutes to go when the Springboks score two trys to go to extra time for the golden point, helped by a yellow card and man off to Fiji at the end. Fiji had won every match until then. Also, crowds in LA looked like shit. They better move this back to Vegas next year when Raidrers stadium is built.
  21. Dudley peaked when he and Clark Ryan got a wedding picture of them published in the Statesman, with one of them in drag, along with a write up that included a honeymoon at Schlitterbahn. Statesman was none too happy. Clark left shortly after and Bob and Deborah joined the show.

  23. Six Nations is on (delayed) on NBCSN. Is France for real? Fantastic defense to keep Wales out of the try zone to end the first half. Italy still sucks.
  24. Vegas weekend report. MLR set up a dual weekend for rugby matches in Vegas and lined up teams from all over North America to come. Good news: My son and I flew in Friday so we got to see some of the players and former players including Todd Clever, and hang out with other fans and players, Had drinks with Ben Mitchell’s parents (lock for SD Legion from England and previously an Austin Elite/Herd/Gilgroni). They’d flown in from the UK for the weekend. Shared an Uber with them from the hotel to the match which was great to get their opinion of US rugby (more optimistic about it than me) Former Eagle, Austin Elite and UT rugby forwards coach Pete Malcolm also plays for Legion now which is head and shoulders better than anyone else in the MLR (albeit their game v Colorado née Glendale was prettly sloppy but an easy win). really fun to see Ma’a Nonu play for the Legion in person again (saw him play against the Eagles at Soldier Field in ‘16 as an All Black). He didn’t have the best game but had a beautiful move to score a try midway through the first half for the Legion, kind of a text book side step/Euro step kind of thing. The 8 for the Legion is also a beast They should win the league this year. If I didn’t live in Austin I’d support their side. Lastly got a free Gilgronis hat from the new CEO of the team as he told me to “swap out my gear” when he saw me with my Elite hat on bad stuff crowd There were probably less than 10 people from Austin that made the trip in support not counting ownership. The few that we met were fantastic fans, including the president of the Gilgronis fan club (shout out if you’re on Shaggy) At best, there were 1000 people for the each game. Pitch sucked (artificial). As far as the matches, Austin is not good. Backs are decent, but the forwards are a mess. They’ll be lucky to win a match. But still go to COTA if you get a chance and support them. Good clean fun.
