  1. Odessa state rep (gop obviously) wants a lot of Texas oil tax money to plug old wells and help with west Texas infrastructure because they’re overburdened supporting the Texas oil industry. https://www.texastribune.org/2024/11/18/west-texas-oil-gas-well-clean-up-legislation/ in my new attitude to not help any red county, this rep and Odessa can fukc themselves. This guy sounds like a Marxist who wants the rest of Texas to cover their bills. Not my problem. Land/mineral owners out there decided to drill every 50 yards and now expect us to clean up the mess?
  2. Another sign that the Trump admin is going to be very very crypto friendly. You can disagree. You can hate Trump but all of the signs are pointing to a big jump in crypto adoption and potential in prices. https://www.cnbc.com/2024/11/18/trump-media-in-reported-talks-to-buy-crypto-trading-platform-bakkt-sending-shares-soaring.html Headline: Trump Media in reported talks to buy crypto trading platform Bakkt, sending shares soaring SIAP. as far as saylor/microstrategy, watch this hour of him talking last week, and you may be enticed to put your life savings in bitcoin.
  3. I don't want to see anyone die but if another result of the Ukraine war is NK having a 10% reduction of their military forces, so be it.
  4. whenever I see a We the People tattoo, I've seen enough that the person virtue signals their faux patriotism. That tat is often accompanied by a possible white supremacist tat as well. Not always but the venn diagram coverage is significant.
  5. DEI covers a broad area but it's become the boogey man to the Right. Don't get me wrong I've seen a few DEI initiatives in the private sector that I don't fully understand but it's not always about race or LGBT items. My current employer previously had unpaid internships in the summer for college students. The DEI dept is the one who recognized a problem and pushed a change because the unpaid aspect was deemed exclusionary for students who came from lower income background. They needed paid jobs in the summer and the company's unpaid policy encouraged kids with well-off parents to apply for internships. Now we only offer paid internships and have a more economically diverse group of summer interns. Seemed like a good DEI decision to me. The rich interns get the same pay.
  6. To my knowledge the Aggies never directed any of that anger into the system or people who allowed so many to die and get hurt. Like most I believe that a man should never punch/hit a woman but when she throws a sucker punch at a guy, she's pushing the boundary of that rule. You definitely can't throw the first punch and get upset if one is returned.
  7. It's possible that some of Trump's picks could hurt the agencies in the long run. Trump's first USPS leader pick (and still leader) has systematically destroyed the USPS. He had a stated mission to slow down mail AND raise costs which he has succeeded in achieving. I will give DeJoy props that he recently worked with Dems to remove ridiculous USPS laws including their handcuff requirement to prefund retiree benefits.
  8. We're the 8th best team in the SEC? If his formula returns crap, its time to change the formula.
  9. I call it Enron Field. His momma named him Clay, I'm gonna call him Clay. now if Daikan pays me to call it Daikan, I'm open to offers. I'll be by the phone waiting.
  10. Agree that I don't want to see A&M lose to Auburn. I would be laughing if they do, but Texas could use a win against a top 20 team prior to facing Bama in the SEC championship team. and if we lose to A&M, then we're not as good as we thought in the first place.
  11. 25 years ago. poor taste jokes are acceptable at some point. people make jokes about brian kelly killing a student but no one else can do the same with A&M killing students? As far as I know, no one was ever held accountable.
  12. Ironic name. I didn't pick the character from Reservoir Dogs because he was nice.
  13. Don't be so quick to think that Trump's picks will be able to make too many changes. If there is one lesson from Trump's first admin, they were incompetent. He was successful in some areas like appointing and confirming judges but that was very much handled by competent people like McConnell. Trump's appointees first inclination will be to fire people in many agencies. Then they will learn that policy change #2 will be tough to implement because there's no one to do it. And never underestimate an office worker in slowing down a project or causing it to fail. "Yes sir, I knew a change to that process would create unidentified problems but you ordered me to implement the change immediately."
  14. I'm still in the angry phase of post election. I'm looking forward to seeing many Trump voters suffer from his policies.
  15. AI power usage is going to dwarf crypto soon if it's not there already. An anti-crypto person will respond by saying that crypto doesn't have utility like AI. Of course that is a very narrow mindset of crypto. Modern history has proven that nothing has more utility than making and retaining wealth. Everything else is secondary.
  16. nothing says Houston like air conditioning
  17. Of all of the bad picks, I see Hegseth as being the least impactful. The DoD/Pentagon will eat him up. The folks in there will spin him around in a million directions and provide him some meaningless wins that he can crow about. And I doubt Elon’s DOGE will even be given a DoD report much less allowed in the building. The real pentagon powers will convince hegsetg to go on tour and compare tattoos with the military personnel around the global bases. It will be interesting when hegseth learns that supplying the Ukraine war has been a benefit to US readiness. Not sure he will be allowed to believe it.
  18. I’m not arguing that bitcoin is energy efficient but it’s not like the traditional banking system is using 5kWh annually themselves.
  19. Could be worse. Eric is back at the terminal finding out the plane left without him.
  20. The gop is against it and there is little reason for any Dem admin to help out a Texas project.
  21. No CR but the Sunday afternoon news cycle is a good time trump to announce crypto friendly picks for treasury/sec/cftc.
  22. Biden needs to start issuing popular (relatively) policies via executive order. Even act on them before a federal judge stops them. Want to write off student debt? Mail out the checks. Don’t announce the exec order until after the checks start getting cashed and media starts hearing about them. See if Trump has the balls to attempt to roll back the amounts or charge them via taxes. perhaps wait until the last federal judges are confirmed.
  23. Fuck him. Little girls were being molested in front of him and he allowed it because he thought it was acceptable recovery practices. Perhaps he didn’t know the doctor got off doing it but that’s a flimsy excuse.
  24. RFK Jf. is the type of rebel who only desires to be brought into the inner circle. He will now do anything trump wants.
  25. Trump will hurt America and Americans but the one ray of hope that I have is that we’re seeing more examples of Trump being able the adequately get things done. He was pathetic at doing the easiest things as president the first time. Now as president-elect, everyone is simultaneously laughing at his picks while being horrified with the thought of them in power. Perhaps the one worst rep or senator (now or recent) that Trump could have chosen instead of Gaetz was George santos. No one in Congress likes Gaetz and now they’re all tasked with keeping gaetz’s secrets and confirming his appointment. Kevin McCarthy will use any last power he has to ensure that ethics report is made public.
