  1. I’m more impressed that the Babylonians named the theorem for a guy that wasn’t born until 1200 years later.
  2. off topic from job hunting but I've thought how there must be a growing need around GIS and on-demand drones. Whether its ranches wanting periodic fly bys of the fence lines or businesses using drones for security patrols. flamethrowers optional. Feels like an untapped market.
  3. People like Steve Bannon are probably giggling with excitement about this situation. They hate govt and want to blow it up. And since the far right people like Gaetz are unreasonable, the only way out of this is for the few "moderate" republicans to move further right or let the House fall apart. The moderates will have to give into Gaetz's demands. In theory a moderate could look to create a coalition group of both Rs and Ds but I don't see that being a reality.
  4. Disagree. Could the Dems have just agreed to keep McCarthy? Sure but why would they do that. It's not like McCarthy has attempted to work well with them. And let's say that the Dems had asked for something in return. More aide to Ukraine, stop the Biden impeachment inquiry, an actual budget spending bill. What would McCarthy have done with that request? He would have run back to the GOP meetings and show that he was the only one standing up to the Dems to prevent them from that liberal agenda. McCarthy had 8+ months to show a willingness to reach across the aisle but instead he kissed up to the far right elements to keep his job.
  5. Now we know the following facts that didn’t come out at the trial Nate Paul was in constant contact with the contractor renovating paxtons house. The contractor told the House mgrs that he would plead the 5th if called to the trial. Oddly enough, this contractor claims he never got paid for any of the work. Remember the renovation company that Paxton hastily paid 120k when he found out his subordinates went to the FBI? It wasn’t the contractor above who was paid. The company, that received the 120k, didn’t register with the state of Texas until weeks after the payment. said company was also managed by a buddy of Nate Paul. The buddy is wrapped up in the Paul federal investigation as well. And he threatened to plead the 5th if called to Paxtons trial as well. I’m unsure if anyone is fully aware of the ownership structure of this company. the state senators must have been aware that witnesses were refusing to testify but Dan Patrick must have not have wanted many any witnesses pleading the 5th. That makes the GOP look bad. source: https://www.houstonchronicle.com/politics/texas/article/house-impeachment-new-evidence-18404478.php
  6. I thought drop shipping only made money for people who offered online classes to teach drop shipping. seriously I was under the impression that the current state was that drop shipping requires a lot of knowledge, work and/or luck. There are plenty of people who will help set up and run your drop shipping for a fee. You take all the risk and split the profits with them.
  7. McCarthy could only get back if he gave even more concessions to Gaetz or make concessions to the Dems potentially losing even more GOP support. i don’t see either happening. Someone else will need to step up.
  8. But you're relying on the CCP to feed you your news. But it makes life easier swiping up for the next piece of infotainment.
  9. I expected Gaetz to attempt an overthrow within a few weeks. As much I dislike him, I give McCarthy some level of credit for hanging on this long. McCarthy should take a drag on a cigarette, snuff it out on the House carpet and yell, "you get Hoynes"
  10. Yep. While there was always a part of Twitter that I ignored because it was nothing but trolls; Twitter was an incredible communication tool to get quick information from either official sources or everyday people who were just on the scene. A baseball game is being delayed for rain? ESPN doesn't tell you when expect the rain to let up; a Twitter meteorologist or something at the ballpark is posting about it.
  11. This was always going to happen when McCarthy agreed to rules so he could "win" the Speaker role in January.
  12. Between the disastrous Code interview and if she screws up with the banks, this could be her final days at Twitter. Now perhaps Elon leaves her in the corner office but she could have any power removed, if she has any power to begin with.
  13. There's online chatter that this week Yaccarino has to meet with the 7 banks that hold the $13B in Twitter debt that Elon took out in buying Twitter. Do acquiring companies always shoulder the debt the acquirer took out to buy them? It's rumored the banks have tried to sell the debt for 60 cents on the dollar and have 0 takers. My guess is that the banks won't play as nice as the Code interviewer. Yaccarino might be required to seriously address the question how is she kept out of the loop of major decisions. Saying that she and Elon talk won't cut it to people that "her" company owes the equivalent of perhaps it's total value.
  14. ALS and dementia. Horrible way to go.
  15. I perfectly understand that the pro-voucher side wants a full share of the ISD's tax revenue at the per-capita level but why should they get that? They should get the marginal cost of 1 student being in the classroom which is going to be extremely low. I doubt it hits $1,500 and more likely $100.
  16. Strange trial. I would bet that many people in America overstate their assets to obtain loans, only to understate the asset value for tax purposes. Banks and taxing authorities appear to not care too much. I would say that NY state should look to any evidence that Trump signed off on the high value of a property, and nail him with the unpaid taxes on the discrepancy. Which I assume is what the state is going after here. Plus penalties.
  17. The idea of a voucher would be to give a parent, who wants to take their kid to a private school, a sizable amount of money. I'm saying that I'm not onboard with a large amount. If they want to take a small amount, ok. I'm not defining the exact amount as I don't know the numbers involved.
  18. When it comes to vouchers, I could be onboard with a small check given to the parents to spend wherever they want, but not a full share. Example, If a public school received $100K in tax revenue for their total of 100 students, parents should not get $1K each to spend wherever. Maybe give them $100. I'm making these numbers up to make the math easier. My reasoning is that I'm a non-parent but I pay a decent amount in ISD taxes. I want my tax money going to the public school not the private school.
  19. I would think Dems would only join to keep McCarthy if McCarthy gives into some Dems demands, which would start a domino effect of losing more Rs.
  20. Mytiburger obviously lasted a long time but I question how successful they could continue to be with that location. I look to Miller's Cafe on Shepherd when I want a burger.
  21. haha. The sooner the worker bee know they're not going to be CEO, the better it is for them. Middle mgr is their ceiling.
  22. In my limited experience, to grow into a senior exec in large corporations, you have to be in a group that is effectively a future exec's group. You don't ask to be included, you don't sign up, you're invited. And while it comes with perks, it can be challenging. They're setting you up for success by giving you the experience and contacts to be fast tracked to leadership. Now if you work in a large corp and you don't think this exec-to-be group exists, you're not on track for senior leadership. For the rest of us schmucks, they have probably have listed us as 0-2 promotions as our max growth. If you have that tag, you're not going anywhere except being a worker bee.
  23. Deion may have brought some Louis on the offensive ball, but it’s Wal-Mart on the defensive side.
