  1. I thought the principal's apology and explanation was solid. He admitted he was wrong and explained how he was fixing his mistake. Too many people recite a non-apology apology but he owned his mistake. He sounds like a jackass overall but I don't see any problems with what he wrote.
  2. comes across like a kid running for 5th grade student president but saying that he will double recess by getting rid of math class.
  3. For whatever reason, the current county treasurer in Galveston win by running on a platform last year to abolish the job. Surprisingly he has said that he wouldn't take the $120K salary that he's entitled to earn. I guess he found some state reps to agree with him and they placed it on the statewide referendum. The claim is that other departments can absorb the role without a loss to the county. Part of me feels like that if Galveston doesn't want a county treasurer, then I'm ok with it.
  4. Given the politics now, I don't think we will see any aircraft carriers being named after Clinton, GWB, Obama, Trump or Biden. Well, if Trump wins he might order one named after him. At least JFK and Bush all saw action in WW2 with the Navy and we know their stories. Ford was also in the Navy during WW2 and served on a light aircraft carrier.
  5. "Water projects" feels very vague to me. What are the projects going to do? I see rivers running dry and business/residents/golf courses continuing to up their usage. Before we pump more water out of the ground, that is not naturally being replaced, we should land on priorities. I don't trust the state of Texas to plan for the future.
  6. People in power, including a lowly principal, have long imposed or even created unfair rules. Its great that social media can shine light on stupid decisions.
  7. This guy will never really go broke. Guarantee there are enough rubes out there that will continue to give him money because he is fighting the good fight. I’m sure it will be a constant battle for his creditors to fight him to pay them back over time.
  8. Thanks for posting. It’s always interesting how the 1-2 sentence summary is written for each item since that is the only due diligence most voters will read. Then when you read the deeper dive, it’s always about giving money to special interests. The power generation industry needs taxpayer funded loans at 3% from to build and improve natural gas power generation plants? Why don’t they use the profits they earn from us during freezes or heat waves? Now we get to effectively pay them more money out of our pockets because why not? However I feel about most referendum items, voters should look to vote yes on raising retired teachers annuity payments. Some of retired teachers are living off the same exact retirement amount that started when they retired decades ago. There have been zero cost of living adjustments over the years to help them. And many of them do not receive social security which does have a cost of living increase.
  9. Forum a June article of the documents Trump kept: So Trump was storing and bragging about his info that many presume was related to Israel. Now Israel is being attacked in a method that circumvented many of Israel’s defense?
  10. I’ve seen enough. DeSantis can’t even get a single page on surly in 2 weeks. And half of the posts are about the lifts in his boots.
  11. I was few years too young to recall Butkus playing but he definitely was one of those guys that bridged the old NFL to the Super Bowl era. I recall seeing him on the NFL broadcasts, random tv shows and the many ads.
  12. I don't see how Jordan doesn't win unanimous GOP votes if Trump tells the GOP to do so. If a lowly representative goes against Trump, they're most likely done in the 2024 primary. And it's not like a large group would stand up together to say no to Trump.
  13. Love how McCarthy got on his knees for Trump but Trump wouldn't lift a finger to tweet an endorsement for McCarty in January. Now Trump is enthusiastically endorsing Jordan. Add McCarthy to a long line of people burned by Trump because McCarthy wasn't useful to him. FAFO.
  14. Many in MAGA have no choice, in their minds, but to continue. They can’t admit that they were taken advantage of by a con man. I still know someone that will break out a “but I couldn’t vote for Hillary” comment when Trumps escapades are brought. Hillary has nothing to do with it.
  15. When it’s mentioned that he’s burnt thru so much money, what’s sad is that most of that money are from rubes that wanted to believe. Too many 40 year olds are wondering why mom and dads garage have 25 MyPillow boxes stacked up. Fool and their money.
  16. While many leaders and followers in MAGA are bad people, they've definitely attracted the mentally ill as well. And some are both.
  17. I'm amazed that any lawyer would take cases from any of the MAGA crew and not require 100% of estimated fees upfront. Maybe 150%.
  18. I forgot about PredictIt. I loved how you could sell your bets on the open market whether it or down. Good way to get out of a position. It was a lot of fun and in 2016, PredictIt was WAY ahead of the news organizations in recognizing that Trump had won. Or at least if the new orgs knew, they weren't saying it yet.
  19. I can get behind speeches at the eviction ceremony because it gives someone a chance to burn others if they think they're going out. But has anyone ever said something meaningful to get the veto cast for them?
  20. Nope. Someone at MLB headquarters must have wanted to go home on time and make the call Thursday morning. Ridiculous that we’re two days out with the teams set and they won’t announce the times. I assume we will find out this AM.
  21. My guess is that GOP has to settle on a horrible speaker like Jordan. Then after a few months of tragic consequences they will kick him out and agree on someone more moderate perhaps someone none of us know by sight.
  22. Side comment but when a band plays a cover at a bar (or concert), it’s actually the bar that owes licensing fees to the artists that created it. Im sure the fees are frequently not paid but the bar would be liable. Luke Combs didn’t get permission from Tracy Chapman in recording and releasing Fast Car. In public comments, she doesn’t appear to be mad about and apparently is getting paid very well now and in the future.
  23. If he starts talking to employment lawyers, he may start to believe that the really will be fired. Why? The lawyers know the horror stories because all of the people they speak with have already been fired. They may get him to start acting and talking at work in a way that set off red flags with his bosses. and why is he working somewhere where he thinks the place is so bad? Get a new job ASAP and stop worrying about suing your current employer. Use some of the FMLA time to interview.
  24. Yep. I’m assuming that we get the 3rd slot so we don’t overlap the Tex-Bal game on FS1
