  1. Haven’t read the recent pages but the Stanford loss is 100% on Deion. A slightly more conservative coaching style in the 2nd half would have secured a victory.
  2. Have you tried the natural methods like eating better, working out, and going to bed earlier? And avoiding alcohol? We all want to be 25 and could handle everything but it doesn't work like that.
  3. While McCarthy was going through his votes, the House hadn't established the rules so CSPAN was able to pan their cameras to show any and all actions in the House. Will today be the same, or will their rules prevent that? The best part of the McCarthy votes was watching who was talking to who. I'm also curious to see the line of guys waiting to sit to Boebert's right.
  4. I assume Jordan is promising the world to any No vote, and he can't have his new promises shared with the people who have already declared Yes.
  5. A quick search tells me that Medicare Part B covers ambulance. They have different criteria if it's emergency vs non-emergency. In some cases you may need a doctor's verifying that it was necessary to transport via ambulance and you need that note within a couple of days.
  6. I think we all know the real issue that many Ags had with Sumlin. There would only overlook it if he brought them championships.
  7. I caught something on youtube about the Suzanne Somers "strike" from Three's Company. My takeaway was that mistakes were on all sides. The producers felt Ritter was the star and the two female leads weren't as critical. Somers knew that she attracted viewers and wanted to get paid like a top TV star. Then she started feigning illnesses, or that was the accusation that led to wasted weeks of production. The craziest part was that for her last season, the show's story was that Chrissy was back home helping with some family issues. Either Janet or Jack would call her in the last few minutes of the episode and they would cut to Chrissy on the phone. All of Somers' scenes were filmed separately with no other castmates for the entire season. Then she was removed entirely.
  8. Weird story that doesn’t fully add up. i suppose a hospital could kick out (transfer to a county hospital) a patient who has demonstrated no ability to pay but no hospital is going to kick out Mary Lou Retton. And if they threatened it to the family, a simple call to a reporter would end that threat. There also isn’t a rush to beg for money other than wanting to maximize the donations by asking while mom is in the hospital.
  9. Abbott says he is offering a carrot to public school teachers that if the state passes the voucher program, he will give the teachers a raise. Feels more like a stick to me since he says they won’t get a raise until he gets his way.
  10. The only method to get Jeffries as speaker is if 5 republicans decided to switch parties. This could only happen if 5 centrists (do any exist?) were planning to retire and Jeffries promised them some legislation that they wanted. Honesty the GOP has the majority so they should expect to have the speaker.
  11. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. 80% unemployment, lack of resources, and facing an invading army. The Palestinians have been failed by the leaders since the 40s. Any decent deal on the table, maybe even unfair ones, have been rejected because it wasn't enough. Then every subsequent offer has been worse and worse. And also on the evacuation orders. Someone may hate leaving especially thinking they have no where to go but are they going to stand in front of Israeli soldiers by asking for more time. You're told to move, you move.
  12. Is that accurate? We're not talking about having them move 200 miles. If they're being told to move from north Gaza to south Gaza, the entire area is 25 miles and presumably many would have to travel less than that. Now is there somewhere for them to go? Probably not but at some point, a population has to be held responsible for the govt they chose. Maybe they chose poorly. Maybe they're unable to remove their govt. Regardless this is what they wanted. I assume Israel wants to ultimately push the Gaza inhabitants into Egypt. Now when the Egyptian army/police/border agents are standing in the way, I don't know what will happen.
  13. BCBS does not have negotiated rates with your city's EMS services in Texas? That's weird. Or did you call a private EMT? The distance doesn't matter or the rate per mile is relatively small.
  14. All healthcare systems suck to some extent. There will always be limits in resources that either slow down care for some or all. It's prohibitively expensive to have services on demand for everyone. Personally I think we should expand the ACA will full subsidies for more people. Keep the capitalistic system but let the govt pay for the poor(er) people.
  15. Dem should require co-chair if not the chair of some committees for them to vote for an acceptable GOP speaker. The GOP officially has the overall majority so I think it's too much to expect a Dem speaker to be elected.
  16. I don't think the GOP is going to call for a vote until they have 217 Yes votes in their side meetings.
  17. While this situation could occur, there are new controls to prevent surprise billing to the patient who did everything they could. It doesn't mean that you won't receive a large bill but a bill does not equate to the money leaving your bank account. Call and ask questions. Worse case, you can appeal to a state board about it.
  18. It did matter for you that you had insurance. You wrote that UHC kept you from paying $210K because of UHC's contract with Seton. That's was a worthwhile benefit for you. And the stories of people receiving $200K or $1M dollar bills are crazy to see, but it's common to see that much of the bill is commonly eliminated later on. It's why I'm also skeptical when someone is asking for funds in a Go Fund Me while they're still in the hospital. There is time to see what the bill will ultimately be resolved to.
  19. GoodRx should be everyone's friend if they have frequent prescriptions. The app tells you the non-insurance rate at nearby pharmacies. Now it doesn't count against any insurance deductible but that may not matter. Also push back on doctors is they prescribe an expensive option. Do you need a Ferrari medication if a Yugo will do.
  20. It's tragic, from an economic efficiency POV, when someone opts out of insurance or even a visit to the doctor to save <$500. Then they end up in the ICU for $10,000+ per day. Then we get the Go Fund Me asking others to help out with that 5 or 6 figure bill. Some people can avoid hospital visits by taking care of the initial illness for less than $50. For an upper respiratory ailment, you can see a nurse practitioner via a smart phone for $25 and the prescription could be as low as $5. Now Retton has something her daughter described as a rare pneumonia, so maybe it does require a lengthy hospital stay and can't be avoided. I don't know. Disclaimer: I'm not blaming sick people. I'm blaming that we have a bad system and we don't educate people how best to navigate it.
  21. I know you can’t easily shop hospitals like other products in the world, but you sometimes have to research, push back, and ask for alternatives. Especially with medication. My mom had some new medicine that would cost between 50-75 per month with using her insured rate. Not back breaking but more than she used to pay. I found that HEB would charge $6 per month cash price. Sold. See ya CVS. I even find that pharmacists will help you identify alternatives or different dosages that significantly lower costs. Take that info to the doc to get their thoughts. Ive been in line behind people that chew out the pharmacy tech who has no control over the costs. Treat them with respect and you might find they can help you. Work with the system not against it.
  22. I can’t stand MTG but I understand her point. If they can’t trust and control people from recording the meetings, then perhaps they shouldn’t have meetings.
  23. Retton’s story is a prime example of why you have to have some health insurance even with ridiculous deductibles and limited benefits. If you don’t have insurance, you’re rolling the dice that you won’t be hospitalized. If you lose, it can wreck the finances of you and others. our system has many flaws but that doesnt absolve someone from being responsible based on the current rules.
  24. I don’t know if anyone is actually a Republican these days because there is no party or definition.
  25. I’ve noticed that my friends who have been long term republicans, think 80s college republicans type, have given up talking politics. The gop is only a loose affiliation of similar people. And the party doesn’t even control the purse strings as much now because the crazier you are, the more you can earn on your own.
