  1. I don't believe it's a effort to discourage people because the extremes are just that, extremely few people. And it makes for good stories when someone is saving 90% of their income by living in a tent and remote working out of coffee shops that don't require them to buy coffee. People read those stories and can't wait to share them over dinner out with their friends, "Can you believe these people..."
  2. how else can you compare how different cars would jump a canyon. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8jEUaeY/
  3. Might have been expensive in properly disposing of the chair according to the law. I don't know about 22K expensive though.
  4. There's a whole genre of videos where people wreck or jump different cars to compare them. It's all software/video games as the engine to create the videos.
  5. and as posted earlier, this superintendent didn't want to produce his drunk (very likely) teenage son to the police after a one car accident. Can't let your son sacrifice himself for the greater good of people taking the responsibility of their action.
  6. In knowing some people from PA, the men there have a strong aversion to pants. It can be 30 degrees outside and 60 inside and they're wearing athletic shorts and a knock-off football jersey. Personally I think a senator should want to dress better than a 10 year old boy but what can you do.
  7. I guess Elon needed a Jewish leader to cover the anti-Semitic problems for Twitter and Elon himself. And Bibi needed a tech leader to help him stop the flood of tech companies leaving Israel. I predict this fails for both of them.
  8. If someone earns enough so they can afford $120K cash for a vehicle, good for them. On the other hand, if they're financing 120K for 84 months so they can make the payments, they're destined for financial problems. Disclaimer: Someone will respond that a 0% rate means anyone should finance. In theory yes but 99.9% of the population should not take on that type of debt for a vehicle.
  9. About a week shy of the 2 year anniversary of this case but not much noise out of Waller County on how they're proceeding with the criminal case. I get that the case involved a juvenile but he must be 18 now.
  10. Honesty the only part that Ballard didn’t do (allegedly) is the commercial aspect. If the allegations are true, he transported women to foreign countries to coerce them to have with him. What a hero.
  11. That was a first date? i will give Boebert credit. Many would be satisfied with their congressional salary but she’s still working her old job to earn extra.
  12. Sounds like a great place to get an education. While I can agree that we don’t have enough self sacrifice in this country, I’m not seeing how this kid cutting his hair benefits others. Sounds like the school says the suspension is about the hair length which may not be specifically called out in the recent law. This school district has previously defended, hair length rules for boys, in court. It’s eye rolling to me that 2023 Texas schools are still fighting boys from having long hair.
  13. I was curious about a few of the unknown (to me) speakers. Basically the general theme is that these are people who make up stories and will do anything for a dollar. Take Yeonmi Park. She’s a North Korean defector in that she escaped with her mom when she was a teenager. Compelling background. But all of her stories about NK are disputed even by her own mother. In fact, her mother talks about how they were NK upper class until the father was arrested for corruption. anyway, she is a friend of these types of events because she compares the Left to the NK regime.
  14. Alexandra Mealer? Is she going to talk about her 0-1 record in politics? Is she the fill-in for Boebert since she's local?
  15. Don't connect your metamask to unknown sites. his mama should have taught him that.
  16. I find the CEO pay issue to be a red herring in these talks. If the CEO agreed to lower their own pay, the unions wouldn't change any demands. It's only a topic to create an emotional response. Do I think most/many CEOs are overpaid? Yep. But I also understand that CEO compensation is based on many factors and has no relation to completing a task or working X hours per week.
  17. Not really. Anyone, who said that CU would struggle to win a game, is well aware they were wrong. I admit CU and Deion are doing a much better job than I assumed they would do. I was guessing they would win a few games and they've proven me wrong. I'm not losing sleep about my mistake because it doesn't matter. But people who thought they would win 0 or 1 game still have a right to think that they will struggle against some Pac-12 schools. Why is that moving the goal posts? Moving the goal posts would be pretending that you didn’t say something before or that you’re using different evaluations. For me I think Deion has already exceeded the best expectations
  18. I wonder how many people are surprised to learn that theaters have night vision/low-light cameras?
  19. I can see strikers don’t like talk shows coming back since that might lessen the pressure on the networks/producers but in barrymores defense, I imagine she was offered a lot of money.
  20. Party of family values love their affairs and eventual divorces.
  21. @Macanudo this is interesting advice to pass the time and make a few dollars while you keep looking for something else. I would also speak to recruiters from staffing firms in your line of work. The work may be inconsistent, part-time, or perhaps not your ideal choice but it’s money. And if you don’t want to list any of this work on a resume, then don’t. In the past I took a 1099 project role at a firm/industry that I had given no thought to in the past. Was supposed to last 3-4 months. Ended up loving it and still there as W2 seven years later.
  22. I’ve noticed that many headlines of this story and the opening paragraphs have the words Boebert and escorting as close together as possible. Maybe it’s just an apt description of the situation of her getting tossed out but I want to think it’s the writers and editors wanting to associate her with another definition of escort.
  23. If accurate, that would have been a good line of questioning.
  24. Was he asked if he was aware that Ken Paxton agreed that the whistleblowers were owed $3.3m for Paxton's and presumably his actions as the HR lead? Speaking of which, that's quite the achievement as an HR rep to not mitigate the problems in firing people. Well done Mr. De La Garza in protecting the Texas taxpayers.
