  1. It occurs to me that the UTSA night game in week 3 is a perfect excuse to again make a big mess of those NEISD recipe enchiladas
  2. As a matter of fact, I still remember going to the Co-op store that used to be in Dallas in 2009 the week before we played Tech (the year after the Leach/Crabtree game) and they were selling a game shirt that said something to the effect of “let’s make the pirate walk the plank” so we’ve been guilty of this before.
  3. So excited that we’ve made it through another football-less period and a full slate of games await us over the long weekend!
  4. Did someone say “glassware”?!? (that’s not actually my collection)
  5. Fun fact: Casey has a much better O line this year watching him lose
  6. I was expecting so little from this game yet it has been entertaining as hell.
  7. This is a really good sour from Great Notion
  8. Once again, Junior’s saying is proven correct that CFB fans are the most thin skinned fans out there
  9. Is the model thinking about a world without pockets?
  10. Just went to Portland and the Oregon coast (Astoria, Cannon Beach, Tillamook and Pacific City) for a long weekend. Hit up several good breweries/bars on most of the usual lists of beer places to check out: Great Notion, Loyal Legion, Great Haus (opened in the old Modern Times space), Fort George, Bridge and Tunnel, de Garde, Public Coast and Pelican Brewing. However, I also had beers in a couple of unusual places. For example, in Cannon Beach, you can have beers and food in a working hardware store: Cannon Beach Hardware I bought and drank a beer (appropriately Boneyard’s RPM IPA) while looking at vinyl in the Northwest’s oldest running music store (Music Millennium…operating since 1969). Seems like beer in music stores should be more of a thing or I’ve just been missing out. While in Pacific City, stopped by a wine shop for my wife…a wine shop that had both Blind Pig and Pliny the Elder on tap. If you were driving by looking to get some good beer, you wouldn’t think to stop here. Turns out it’s run by the brother of Vinnie from Russian River. Also, the Henry’s Tavern bar in PDX Terminal C does crowler fills. Never seen that in an airport bar (especially in a bar not affiliated with a brewery) before.
  11. Ron Weaver…or is it Ron McKelvey? https://glen-r-hines.medium.com/the-mysterious-case-of-ron-weaver-cfd4cdb842dc
  12. “putting in the work [emoji102]”
  13. Always loved Magic in particular. Also love this version of her performing it. RIP
  14. Picked up Ricky’s Hot Chicken from their Richardson location tonight for dinner. Chicken sandwiches and fries were great along with their comeback sauce. A bit of a sweeter hot chicken which is very tasty though I’d still put Hattie B’s as my personal local favorite. The chicken and waffles the kids got were also good. As you need a minimum $55 order to pick up, I also got their nugget sampler with all heat levels. I was smart enough to know not to try the hottest. My wife was not and had to chug some milk. Pick up is definitely the way to go as it is a TINY space. I had scheduled our order ahead and was able to walk right in and pick it up on time. There were probably around 20 people packed in that place waiting for theirs as I’m betting they had not though to order ahead.
  15. I also enjoyed the burger at Father’s Office in Santa Monica. Of course the great beer selection that went along with it probably helped.
