  1. How is that? If I’m paying your mandatory show up time, you’re coming in for those 4 hours. No show is back to the hall (ie house, filing for unemployment again)
  2. Houston lost several transmission towers in a storm earlier this year, causing additional widespread loss of power. Mostly in large ROWs that would be very easy and “cheap” to incorporate underground (through ditching or drilling). My work mainly encompasses coastal areas (think Miami, where power has to go from mainland substations to all the islands and port). Also, cities that want to install new substation networks in the middle of existing infrastructure, ie: substation to substation, don’t want to trench miles between them disrupting roads and existing structures. Most of our bores are between 3500’ and 9500’, typically 48-60”. Typical depths are 100-150’ on horizontal tangent, leaving the entry and exit on 12-15* depending on geology and any existing interferences. The East coast has been burying quite a bit as well (done ALOT of work in VA/DC). All the permitted offshore farms will be buried from offshore structure to inland bank. Louisiana was going to bury a bunch of their coastal lines a few years ago (likely being pushed by the LNG plants) but they scrapped that. Funding probably went to NIL or something, who knows.
  3. Electricity has more to do with the ampacity losses by distance and heat. Burial of transmission lines had accounted for about 70% of our projects in last 5 years or so. Boring with anything bigger than the little Vermeer and ditch witch rigs you are seeing in your hood is very, very expensive compared to just open trenching. But, what isn’t expensive these days?
  4. I’ve had real good luck with Texas Wildlife Supply feeders (and blind). Quality stuff, relatively heavy made dumb steel. I think I’m going to have a big # feeder commissioned next year. Fill it once or twice and be done type of deal.
  5. I have sad because instead of cool pics @Handcruser posts are like a fucking algebra class. Nothing but numbers and emoji written everywhere in between. Obligatory I was told there would be no maths.
  6. And somehow still considerably better than All Summer Long.
  7. It brings back plenty of memories. I didn’t enjoy that gig, but it was plenty cool. Just not my deal.
  8. That’s how I always did it. Don’t have any serrated blades left, other than a leatherman I keep in my hunting bag.
  9. Every year I see your neighborhood posts and laugh (dying inside) about how much I pay to have considerably less herd than your hood. You've posted some impressive deer over the last few years. That dude with the protein we feed, oof.
  10. I noticed they’ve turned on him lately, as well. They’ve finally realized that he is in fact, not as good or better than Ant Hill. Surprising, I know.
  11. Hell even that’s not too terribly bad. Broken bow is nice, though…
  12. We’re talking about a Texas State grad student here…
  13. I thought that was someone else.
  14. I’m down for paying for it out of any social fund you want. I’d be irate as an ET shareholder if they don’t hold the woman’s estate liable.
  15. This bad decision was made by one of the “captive consumers”. Why didn’t the developer that encroached this ROW pay for bollards, because profit. Why should ET shareholders hold the bag when it could come from the person who caused it, or their insurance? lol, at “most”. I agree, but it’s sad that most isn’t all.
  16. Correct. This doesn’t have shit to do with being industry subsidies, or having a profitable year due to a Wx event, or holding bitchmade feelings of contempt about the success of the company. This is a math problem and I’m pretty sure this isn’t the first time it’s been looked at. Capt, what you going to cry about when the bollard companies post the best income statements in their history?
  17. You diarrhea dumb thoughts constantly comrade, no need to put words in your mouth.
  18. But you don’t understand. They made 2B by being in a business at an opportune time from an event that they had no control over, once. They made money and it’s just not fair11!1!
  19. Sometimes you just got to move the box over to get it right. I’ve had to do it several times and not a huge deal.
  20. That particular turd. And some Taurus ones. But I won’t throw a stone, I’ve got an old mossberg 410 that used to live in a barn that I cleaned up and let the kids shoot.
  21. The orange plastic tips on the ends of the guns. Those are air soft, no? I understand the heightened threat past of the tweet, not so much the cache pics.
  22. Game cam pics was showing 109* yesterday at our place. That pork would start sizzling as soon as it hit the ground.
  23. Of fucking course. All this guys have made too much money. Propose an adder to the end user and this righteousness goes right the fuck away.
  24. About as much as the discussion hardening every pig trap and riser across America because clownworld.
  25. Fucking PHMSA and their lack of gaf about the safety or regulation of pipelines. It’s about time we demand this government run entity much more heavy handed. Someone needs to be held accountable for these subsidized freak accidents. Also, should we be burying lines anymore? I know you are required to do an 811, but imagine if someone excavated into one…
