  1. Pretty excited about this one. The marketing's been great so hopefully the trailer isn't better than the movie itself, but I've loved Oz Perkins since The Blackcoat's Daughter so I'm looking forward to seeing another of his movies. My son and I are going to see it this weekend.
  2. Stop thinking about pussy I wasn't thinking about- You were thinking about pussy
  3. Stop it, I remember when you got her. Can't believe it's been that long.
  4. The house still has a whiff of skunk and it's been two days.
  5. I'm not excited about the Sony acquisition but I'm still ride or die Alamo for the time being. I'm there at least twice a month, at either Village, South Lamar, or Lakeline, and never have any problems with loud patrons. Last time I was at a Cinemark there was a group of loud high-schoolers being obnoxious, which just reinforced my Alamo or nothing policy. The pre-shows are awesome, there are no commercials besides movie trailers, and I've never had trouble with people being loud because they enforce their no talking/texting policy. We go to the Elf movie party every year as a family. Their special screenings are great, like the Time Capsule feature they're doing this year, and you can usually count on them to screen smaller limited-release films for at least a short time. It used to be that I had to go to the Regal Arbor Cinema to see indie stuff in the theater (after Dobie shut down). The food isn't great, but the beer selection is good and I can usually find something I like on the themed menu. And if not, bottomless popcorn. Anyway, there's still a lot that makes the Alamo special, IMO. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Sony doesn't fuck it all up.
  6. They did a pretty passable job of making Glen Powell unattractive in the beginning, with the awful haircut, jorts, and glasses. But then I saw that he named his cats Id and Ego and he shot right back up the hotness scale.
  7. Just finished the S3 finale and wow. Their confrontation scene gave me chills - I've never thought Hannah Einbender was an amazing actress but she really brought it then. And the final scene was great, but I almost think it was too dark for the show. They usually do a good job of walking the line between humor and drama but I think it's going to be hard to get back to hilarity after that. I did love the plane scene. Jimmy's escalating frustration with the lady filming was great. I'm glad they found a way to give Kayla more depth in this episode - she's always been kind of one note until now.
  8. Like Eddie Rabbit, I love a rainy night, but I do remember how much it sucked when my kids were little and storms kept them up to the point it kept me up. Hope you all get some sleep tonight.
  9. I vaguely remember a tornado from when I was at Tyrell, which would've been in the mid to late 80s, when we had to all sit in the hallway like you said, but I can't remember any others. My parents mentioned a storm from 1983-ish where there was a tornado outbreak that did a bunch of damage.
  10. Wasn't that the name of the town in Buffy, the Vampire Slayer? The hellmouth?
  11. That's awesome. Congrats to your friend.
  12. Someone in a Vulture article posted that link but yeah, their Trustpilot page is inconsistent at best. And I'm pretty sure most of the reviews on that particular jacket are fake. Very American names with very questionable grammar and wording.
  13. I got you, fam.
  14. The least believable part of this movie was that Aaron Taylor-Johnson was the movie star and Gosling was the faceless background guy. They've been doing these in Austin for a while - I remember seeing Stepbrothers in the theater when my oldest was a baby and he's about to turn 16. But yeah, it's a great idea. This was one of the most fun movies I've ever seen. My son and I both loved it, and yes, I made him listen to me belt out Against All Odds on the way home. Definitely worth seeing in a theater if you can. The Drafthouses in Austin still have a ton of showtimes.
  15. I would've categorized her first movie the same way. I didn't know she was trans until this movie came out and it does shine a light on some of the storytelling aspects of World's Fair, but I still wouldn't watch it again. I'll take your advice about streaming TV Glow. Wow, you're right. I had to look her up to make sure they weren't related.
  16. The trailer looks great, but I thought Jane Schoenbrun's other movie, We're All Going to the World's Fair, was one of the most boring things I've ever seen. It had a super high rating on RT and I usually agree with the critics so I'm a little wary of this one, but I'll probably catch it on streaming.
  17. Put her pop career first. Did the Pitch Perfect sequels and some other lesser-known stuff, like Dickinson. Good call. She had a small part in Me, Earl, and the Dying Girl that she knocked out of the park, well before her House of the Dragon days. I submit Zendaya. Reminds me of Jesse Plemons how she nails every (very versatile) role she's ever taken in her post- pop-TV time.
  18. We really enjoyed it, too. Kathryn Newton is turning into quite the indie horror actress moving into mainstream. And I agree that keeping the vampire reveal out of the theaters would've made the reveal that much more interesting, but I can see how it would make marketing difficult. On a tangential note, and one about a movie I haven't seen yet, but one I plan to see when I can: I read an interview with Yorgos Lanthimos about his latest movie that debuted at Cannes, and it starts with the interviewer saying "you mentioned Caligula as an inspiration for this", so that should be a fucked-up ride even for YL.
  19. Cannot echo this enough. And they are starting to produce some great original content, like Late Night With the Devil and You'll Never Find Me.
  20. This was so dumb and fun. They don't stick the landing 100%, but my 12-yo (who loves YouTubers, of course) and I were picking up what they were putting down. It's like Blair Witch for this generation, with more comedy.
