  1. I didn't know that, but yeah, it totally makes sense.
  2. It was super great having marching practice out there when the heat index was 105 and you could just smell the carcinogens seeping into your pores. I don't think that one has blown up in a long time, unless you mean the TPC one on Rubber Plant Road that blew up the week of Thanksgiving a few years back. That boom woke me up.
  3. PNG will just re-hire Todd Dodge to find them a new coach. But honestly, when they get home I'm sure Joseph will find his home has been turned into a shrine by the 10 people who stayed in town.
  4. The text chain with all my relatives at the game has gone silent.
  5. Jeff Joseph is being more ballsy than usual in this game.
  6. PNG significantly outplayed SOC in the first half last year, and this year they look more evenly matched. It ain't over till it's over.
  7. The comment under the second post on this page has info on streaming the PNG-SOC game. You might be able to find other games there, too.
  8. This doesn't really surprise me. Friends is a much more traditional sitcom than Seinfeld. Seinfeld had no central romance to root for, and furthermore, the characters weren't really...likeable, if you think about it. To me, that was part of the appeal - they were terrible people in a lot of respects, but really fucking funny, and that made it different from anything else that was on TV at the time. I didn't really appreciate Seinfeld till I was out of college. I loved both shows, but they are very different.
  9. She's a main character in The Fall of the House of Usher on Netflix, fyi.
  10. No shit, right? Afterwards I thought, I need a palate cleanser to lighten the mood. Maybe something like Shoah, or, I don't know, Paths of Glory. Fucking Christ, that movie was dark.
  11. BONE! He will be missed. RIP.
  12. The one from 1984, about the nuclear apocalypse?
  13. We taped The Great Outdoors off of TV some time in the late 80s and watched it alllll the time - it's still one of my favorite movies. "Big bear! Big bear chase me!"
  14. I laughed out loud at parts of this, and was brought to tears at others. Da'Vine Joy Randolph was one of my favorite parts of Only Murders, and I hope she gets all the awards for her role as Mary Lamb here. Dominic Sessa was also fantastic. I hope to see much more of him in the future.
  15. Super low-budget indie horror, free on Tubi. A wonderful depiction of grief and loneliness and vengeance, and both main actors were fantastic.
  16. Apocalypse Karen was great and the other cast wasn't too bad, either. I loled at the last scene. The Friends references were killing me.
  17. Or when the water main in front of the house breaks and a utility crew is out there for hours digging up the yard. FML.
  18. What a good girl. Nonprofit says fosters needed after rescue Labrador Retriever gives birth to 14 puppies Lady Longhorn’s puppy’s names Boys Vince Earl Colt Major Sark Mack Girls Quinn Jordan Ricky Sam Brook Jaylen Sugar (Bowl) Rose (Bowl)
  19. Sounds like the SNL skit where Andy Samberg was a 13-yo consultant on Game of Thrones.
  20. One of my favorites - I always crack up at the scene where she's trying her upscale accent for the first time and says about her alcoholic aunt "it was like mother's milk to her."
  21. Has anyone seen Leave the World Behind? I tried reading the book years ago and the writing was so fucking pretentious I barely got through 1/4 of it before I stopped. I actually wrote down a few quotes in case anyone asked me how it was, spoilered below. But I do still find the premise intriguing and I wonder if it comes across better in film.
  22. Shit, I'm not sure I fully understood it now. There are definitely plot holes but I can see how it influenced a future generation of psychological thrillers/horror. "I fucking told you" 😂
