  1. OMG stop with the music for this poor guy who obviously doesn't speak English well.
  2. I support John Cena wearing nothing but birks.
  3. I follow the Oscars pretty closely but it didn't really hit me till a few minutes ago that Barbie's adapted screenplay nomination was based on "Barbie, by Mattel". Big lulz on that stretch, and I liked the movie a lot.
  4. Loved American Fiction - great win.
  5. Was at Schooner in Nederland yesterday and the crawfish prices hadn't changed yet, but they were talking about how they'd need to bump them up soon and how they'd held out as long as they could. I got the blackened opelousas with shrimp and crab and didn't miss crawfish at all, but we'll see how it goes a few months from now.
  6. The Dune popcorn bucket is...turning heads. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C3D4Og0uE7I/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=ddb3ee19-c946-4923-930f-68e4efa89579
  7. All of Us Strangers. It is quiet, somber, odd, romantic. I'll be thinking about it for a while.
  8. My husband's cousin is a secret service agent and when Trump was in office, he got us passes to see Air Force One land when Trump was coming to Austin for something. We're in no way Trump fans, but thought it would be cool to see the plane come in and all that. What I remember most from this is Ken Paxton going through the crowd greeting attendees, and all I could think about was his lazy eye. I didn't know where to look. /csb
  9. It's rough. Did not mean to post that meme in that post - I'd copied it to send to my son but apparently also copied it here.
  10. If you want a good show about two Odd-Couple-y detectives thrown together to solve a murder, check out Deadloch on Prime. If for nothing else but the pilot's a cappella rendition of I Touch Myself sung by a lesbian choir.
  11. Are we to believe that Clark saw Navarro when he said "she's awake" and started seizing in the first episode? A "time is a flat circle" thing? Or did I completely misunderstand this?
  12. The scene where he's dying and he and Kelly Reilly are talking to each other in his mind? dream sequence? has some of the most cringeworthy dialogue I have ever seen. I could barely watch it.
  13. The Big Salad lady was Lynn from 24.
  14. Yes, she's married to a guy, but she identifies as Two-Spirit and has had same-sex relationships.
  15. I don't hate it as much as the rest of y'all, but I can't figure out if the relationship between Danvers and Navarro is supposed to be platonic or that of ex-lovers. Or maybe maternal, in that Danvers is a mother figure to Navarro? They are too close to be just coworkers who used to be partners, IMO. Or maybe I'm completely off and it's just because they are both queer in real life.
  16. Apropos of nothing, Christopher Eccleston really owns every role he plays. Took me forever to figure out who the hell the actor was playing Ted, even though I've seen him in a million things - I kept thinking it was Michael Rapaport but with a twist, and kicked myself when I finally looked it up. I think the supernatural has to play into it somehow. They seem to be trying for some kind of Lost-style faith vs reason setup, although less directly than with Jack and Locke, and playing on many of the locals' acceptance of supernatural explanations. I know it's a totally different show, but I keep thinking of Northern Exposure and Joel's beliefs vs those of the locals and Natives. You have the group deaths, possibly of fright, of both the herd of caribou and the scientists in the first episode. Multiple people in different places at different times hearing "she's awake" or whatever the phrase is. The one-eyed polar bear that keeps showing up. They have a shitload of stuff to wrap up, though, so who knows what'll happen.
  17. I seriously LOLed. It's....sweet? that y'all want to see crew team-era AG but let's not.
  18. She really is one of very few women who look just as good with the pixie cut as with longer hair.
  19. American Fiction is fantastic.
  20. Obviously I’m a full-blown, Republic of Austin, hippie woman who’s a staunch feminist, but…I don’t think it’s that crazy that Margot and Greta didn’t get nominated, while Ryan did. They were all great, but while I loved the movie, it’s a stacked field and he was the standout character, IMO. If Greta was going to win for anything, it should’ve been Little Woman, and Margot for I, Tonya. I think they’ll both get their due one day. I said what I said.
