  1. Welp. Bad news. Email from Philmont today says our trek this summer is cancelled due to the wildfire that is currently raging unchecked. We are beyond disappointed, but the safety of the firefighters and staff is our utmost concern. SO, I NEED YOUR HELP. We are looking for a week-long trek (7/7 - 7/15) to substitute for the two-weeks we lost at Philmont. It must be within driving distance of the Metroplex (8-12 hours, after all we were driving to Philmont). Somewhere challenging and memorable, that the kids will enjoy. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  5. It's been reported that there was one NFC team that had him completely off their draft board due to a neck injury, but as stated previously the Cowboy doctors had checked him out and given him a thumbs-up
  6. Agreed. I love watching position runs with everyone scrambling to get into the mix while the getting is good. Its more interesting than just waiting for the next pick to be turned in. The Giants taking a QB could also be the best case scenario for the Browns. Their number four pick then becomes even more coveted by that franchise trying to jump into the QB run, or steal Saquon Barkley, or Bradley Chubb. The Saints are now alleged to be looking to move into the QB mix. Swap first round picks with New Orleans, take the Guard from UTEP later in the first round and stockpile more picks.
  7. This. Straight up blind taste test and Ohio sweet corn destroys that ethanol product they grow in Nebraska
  8. Our last trip to Lincoln I walked out of the stadium thanking the College Football Gods that I would never have to return to Lincoln, Nebraska - ever - again. To put the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval on those sentiments an elderly Husker fan must have seen the smile on my face and cut a beeline through the crowd to plant herself in front of me to give me an earful. She promptly told me to fuck off and that despite the results was had observed just a few paces away, that we sucked and Nebraska would kick our ass in the Big 12 Championship Game. To which I just smiled and politely explained that her beloved Huskers had just lost to the worst Longhorn team in the better part of a decade, with Garrett Gilbert at quarterback. Not only did Texas have no business winning in Lincoln that day, but that there wasn't even a snowball's chance in hell there would be an opportunity for a grudge match in the title game. In fact, you probably even won't live long enough to see Nebraska and Texas play again. It makes me warm and fuzzy inside just thinking about it.
  9. and, Good Will Hunting. Not in the ballpark, but geographic theme is on point. "Ibid, your Honor."
  10. Casey Affleck was so good in GBG he almost pushes GBG past Mystic River on his own. But, too much talent in Mystic River. I like The Town just for the car chase scene. "Now that's how you drive a fucking car."
  11. My son started selling bags of mulch and compost on Nextdoor as part of his Boy Scout Troop's effort to help Scout's raise money for themselves to pay for Philmont, etc. His first year he sold 800+ bags and this year he sold over 2,000. Took us an entire weekend to deliver it all and he'll keep about $1.50 a bag. It is the only thing I have found Nextdoor to be useful for.
  12. I wouldn't go so far as to call him "delusional." Overconfident for certain. I do find it amusing that ten-months after the fact and he still can't put together a coherent or believable CYA
  13. Going to miss Libby. She was very easy on the eyes. She should have worked harder to save herself instead of whining about getting votes at prior tribal councils. Back to Chris Noble, here is his answer from his exit interview on RHAP about not playing his idol; "I don't play that idol because for me to win the game I needed to get more out of it than just that tribal. And, I have to have faith in all the work I put in for 22-days creating bonds and relationships to protect me from a possible blindside. Unfortunately, that was not the case and I got blindsided. I knew Dom was going to vote for me, so... and Wendell, so that was not a surprise. I went in thinking that if Dom and Wendell- especially if he had an idol- if they both had idols, I was playing mine. If neither of them played anything I was playing my idol and it was really just a tossup whether I was going to play it if Dom played, you know an advantage or an idol. So, I took the risk because if I take that risk and I don't get voted out, I have that idol with the power of [?] finally, next time around, and who knows what happens there." I get the first part about building relationships and relying on them, but he loses me quickly thereafter. My interpretation of his thought process is that if either Dom or Wendell, or both, played an idol or advantage Chris would play his. If neither played an idol or advantage, Chris would play his- but it was a tossup if Dom played his. I can only surmise that it boiled down to Wendell and whether Wendell played his idol (if he had one, which he did). For whatever reason, had Wendell played his idol that would have have been the trigger for Chris to play his. Based upon his statement regarding relationships, he must have thought that he could out-muscle Wendell in a head-to-head vote among the tribe. Oh, and production took his idol from him. Snatched it up right away. He didn't get to keep it.

    Pete Rose

I threw up on Pete Rose once. If that's my "15-minutes," I can live with it.
  16. Yep. An entire half inning. Watching games from behind the last row until the third out. The first time I can recall seeing it was in the lower boxes at Camden Yards when it first opened.
  17. This drives me nuts too. I don't recall if they do it now, but Minute Maid should have the attendants hold people returning to seats at the top of the stairs until the teams are switching sides. I've seen it done at Pac Bell, Comerica, and CitiField. It cuts down on foot traffic during an inning, both up and down
  18. My kids LOVE it. They are all into Splatoon 2 and counting the days until Smash Bros. Personally, I can't stand the small Joy-cons cuz I struggle with them and they level the playing field
  19. Named my first son after this character. Wife dug her heels in on "Edwards" as his middle name. Wanted to name the next one "Aaron" but thought it might be bad luck.
  20. You mean where the NL had more teams than the AL? That "proper." Just move the Astros back to the NL. Done. Now go get your shine box.
  21. Negged for not rubbing both of your brain cells together and coming up with the notion of realigning the leagues to their numbers before interleague play began, genius.
