  1. Would. So would all you degens. At least I admit it.
  2. And a buncha ATACMS-olov systems, complete with the company that makes them (located in North Bethesda, Siberia)
  3. Add to that, the new guy might be, you know, competent at occupying and taking land.
  4. People bag on QoS for reasons that include its fantastical plot. "An evil corporation exploiting Bolivian water?! Come on." Well... The Cochabamba Water War,[2] also known as the Bolivian Water War, was a series of protests that took place in Cochabamba, Bolivia's fourth largest city, between December 1999 and April 2000 in response to the privatization of the city's municipal water supply company SEMAPA. The wave of demonstrations and police violence was described as a public uprising against water prices.[3] The tensions erupted when a new firm, Aguas del Tunari – a joint venture involving Bechtel – was required to invest in construction of a long-envisioned dam (a priority of Mayor Manfred Reyes Villa), so they had drastically raised water rates. QoS is a good movie. A good reprieve from the "bad guy wants to destroy the world" tropes of the usual Bond film. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cochabamba_Water_War
  5. We read the book, but sadly a 16 yo Parliament was unable to comprehend its signifiance.
  6. Bump. This guy predicted it: But not everyone was shocked. Maj. Gen. David Meade of the Army, whose command included the largest American component of the peacekeeping force in Mogadishu, had foreseen events clearly. Weeks before the battle, in a classified memo to the Army chief of staff, he warned that Somalia was about to erupt. “You’re likely to have a big fight over some period of time with considerable casualties,” he wrote. “And, in the end, you’re going to turn over the city to the Somalis.” General Meade urged immediate steps, which might have forestalled the incident we now call Black Hawk Down. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/10/02/opinion/bowden-mogadishu-black-hawk-down.html
  7. I think it's fair to say Russia has held up better than many of us armchair military geo-political internet hacks here would have predicted. Doesn't change the fact we need to help Ukraine kick their ass.
  8. Anyone who uses "holistic" in a sentence.
  9. I'm totally not complaining about that scene in the movie, but I can't figure out what the gratuitous nudity did for the story.
  10. 91 gets a marathon cancelled in Minnesota?
  11. I'll fight that fight right along side you.
  12. I gotta check my notes, but didn't the Russian Revolution start that way?
  13. To Kill a Mockingbird; reading it for a class. Like every American I read it in HS, but am embarrassed to say I haven't seen the movie until now. Better acting and dialogue than most movies of the era, and Gregory Peck makes a great Atticus Fitch. His showdown with the lynch mob was better than anything Wyatt Earp ever did. At least Earp had a gun.
  14. Serbia is really gonna poke NATO. Wow.
  15. When will this thing be available at walk-in clinics and pharmacies?
