  1. the billy batts thing has always bothered me but i think I'm coming around to understanding. to me, batts always represented a generational divide and a perfect boomer representation of "fuck you i got mine i can do what i want get your shinebox kid" attitude. shit had changed while billy was inside but he was too self involved and prideful to see it. it's the perfect representation of a generational suicide and what our inner psycho would like to do with boomers sometimes when they still pine for the good old days when they could just do what they want. every good mob tale is the tale of the american immigrant and the tale of multiple generations handling success in their own way in their own time. and the good part usually comes when the younger generation asks wtf and shakes the tree even when they end up dead because of it.
  2. so this is an amazing comment. somehow combined with your avatar, it's triggered something in my mind, but i'm not sure yet what. your point that we are more worried about the thing going full than the fact that it's capable of dispatching a human life without a real thought about it is monstrous.
  3. all it is doing is highlighting how antiquated our means of human assessment really are. rote fact memorization is stupid and has been since the invention of the encyclopedia much less the internet. it's important not to think of chapgpt as a learning entity. all it is really doing is dressing up factual information on easy to digest language. it's far superior to a search engine at this point. but as far as interpreting information and/or "learning" is not doing any of that. everything it does is derivative.
  4. see? i can't even fucking post a gif from mobile and we are supposed to win this war
  5. ai can't kill us unless we let it. shit like this is how we die
  6. this whole netflix thing has been fascinating to me for years. admittedly, i never got it. the content was never worth the cost and i never had built in loyalty from the old dvd days so i was always an uphill sale on it. i still am. they are still using fucking subscriber metrics to measure growth for fuck's sake. so much so that they went on a punitive subscriber quest right during a writer strike and a dearth of content amd shitty content decisions. i never understood why netflix was always seen as such a market pioneer. now they seem to want to increase revenues with negative publicity. great idea dummies.
  7. he did it all during covid
  8. that escort is the most honest person in that picture. mr phlegm.
  9. see, i've taken the same position with my remote learning 15 year old youngest son who wants to stay up all night and sleep all day. i don't like it. i actually hate it, partly because i also want to stay up all night and sleep all day. my wife hates it hates it. she wants to see him during the day, etc, and she uses his schoolwork lack as a reason. a damn good one, in fact. i've told him, time and again, "look, dude, if you are current with your schoolwork, no one is in a position to complain about your hours." mom's only objection so far is "you're behind on your schoolwork" so prove her wrong, son, and then do what you want. apd is in a similar position. if you had, i dunno, been doing your jobs for, i dunno, maybe the last 20 years or so, things wouldn't have gotten so bad. if you keep up with property crime and sexual assault cases in any sense of the word"giveafuck" then you'd have a lot more sympathy in the community. but ever since apd went full on thug police force and started the mardi gras riot, it's been more of the same. then art acevedo came and probably set apd back another 20 years with his backasswards dumbassery.
  10. jesus christ yall, it was obviously hyperbole it's fucking mickey mouse and shit
  11. um, kind of? yeah, i'm thinking that's pretty much the biggest part of it. but it's a fact. elon has billions of something that ony has value because we value it. elon has value as a person because people like you value him. it's not a difficult concept. you kind of come to represent the people with whom you surround yourself and for whom you stan.
  12. well, the first step is realizing that things only have value if we value them.
  13. it's a weird dynamic. every time i think i've nearly got my finger on it, it wriggles away. there's something about bullies and powerful men going on with it. this weird hero worship of biff from back to the future as some paragon of mankind. it's got something to do with celebrating billy batts (a guy stomped and stabbed to death for saying it) saying "go get your shine box" or some weird infatuation and identification with the morals and worldview of colonel jessup, a worldclass fuckstain villain. there's mixed in some hearkening back to a time where date rape was kind of funny and women were slits and when the strong stuffing the weak into the locker was funny, i guess? being openly racist was funny, and fuck em if they can't take a joke, amiright? there's more to it, but it's all fucking toxic. that's the glory. musk is just another in the list of powerful and/or wealthy men that wraparound oakley bald guy wants to be. i think that must be it.
  14. i know that i, for one, am on fucking pins and needles wondering what 69floppycock69's take is on gay love.
  15. ah well tabc and apd are two different animals. both on the take obviously. I'm pretty sure when tabc was raiding those places, somebody wasn't getting their weekly envelope. think about how absurd those raids were. meanwhile for decades pay your protection.
  16. like I'm ready to fight for the gay mafia this june. this whole campaign of hate is going to boil over this summer. i know I'll be on the side of love. fuck all yall haters
  17. i almost drowned once. nothing so dramatic but when my boys were younger, think maybe fourish?, we were in port a and me and the brother in law decide to show the boys the sandbar out there. With each of us having one of my sons on his back, we set off. gd we made it but only just. we had both reached the point of no return when our muscles just decided we were stupid and they weren't going to put up with our bullshit. i mean you go from strong confident swimmer to oh God am i gonna drown my kids and myself out here in stupidly shallow water? and it happens so fast. damn near.
  18. lol you new to town? apd is a huge protection racket, like every other police force or organized crime operation
  19. good points good points good points but a still fuck disney twice for making me appreciate their corporate culture for something resembling a heart
  20. lol at watson doing anything but being austin's old white father
  21. this is how fucked things are. here we are, rooting for possibly the most evil corporation ever against a more oppresssive government. in what world is disney ever actually the good guy? well done republicans
  22. this earned a couple of days off. jesus christ, i get tired of suspending people for stupidf shit. stop doing stupid shit please.
  23. of course you know i agree with that. but let's assume that we achieve growth through immigration - at some point, we still need to plan for 0 or negative growth. what happens then? when do we get the fucking good life, the ten hour work weeks, and the goddamn flying cars for free? all this automation should get us SOMEthing.
  24. i honestly feel like we are on the edge of a population correction. the olds are going to die off, yeah, but we aren't replacing them at the same rate they are departing, so we really need to start thinking about what an economy with 0 or negative population growth looks like. because everything else has been a pyramid scheme.
